RESUMO
Barlericin, the new neolignan diglycoside, has been isolated from the n-butanol soluble sub-fraction of Barleria acanthoides along with dehydrodiconiferyl alcohol 12-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (2), reported for the first time from the genus Barleria. Their structures have been assigned on the basis of spectral studies.

Barlerisides A (1) and B (2), new phenolic glycosides, have been isolated from the n-butanol soluble sub-fraction of Barleria acanthoides along with two known compounds acteoside (3) and p-hydroxycinnamic acid (4). Their structures have been assigned on the basis of spectral studies. Both 1 and 2 showed significant activity in the superoxide scavenging assay while weak inhibitory activity was observed against the enzyme xanthine oxidase.

Rosenones A (1) and B (2), new anthraquinone derivatives, have been isolated from the ethyl acetate soluble fraction of Aitchisonia rosea along with 1,3,6-trihydroxy-2-methylanthraquinone (3) reported for the first time from this species.

Aitchisonides A (1) and B (2), new iridoid glucosides, were isolated from the n-butanolic fraction of Aitchisonia rosea along with deacetylasperulosidic acid (3) and nepetanudoside B (4), which were reported for the first time from the genus Aitchisonia. Their structures have been assigned on the basis of spectral analysis including (1)H and (13)C NMR spectra and by DEPT, 2D COSY, NOESY, and HMBC experiments.

Pervosides A (1) and B (2), two new isoferulyl glucosides, have been isolated from the ethyl acetate soluble fraction of Perovskia atriplicifolia and their structures have been assigned on the basis of spectroscopic data. 3-Hydroxyestragole beta-D-glucopyranoside (3) has also been isolated and characterized for the first time from this species.
