RESUMO

Iron oxide nanozymes (IONzymes) are a class of magnetic nanoparticles that mimic the enzymatic activity of natural enzymes. These particles have received significant attention in recent years due to their unique properties, such as high stability, tunable magnetic responsiveness, and ability to act as biocatalysts for various chemical reactions. In this review, we aim to provide an overview of the production methods of magnetic nanozymes, including chemical, physical, and biological synthesis. The structure and design of magnetic nanozymes are also discussed in detail, as well as their applications in various fields such as biomedicine and environmental science. The results of various studies and the latest advances in the field of magnetic nanozymes are also discussed. This review provides valuable insights into the current state of magnetic nanozymes and highlights their potential for further development and application in various fields.

This paper investigates the cavity-magnon steering and qubit-qubit steering of a hybrid quantum system consisting of a single-mode magnon, a two-qubit state, and a single-mode cavity field in the presence of their damping rates. The temporal wave vector of the system is obtained for the initial maximally entangled two-qubit state and initial vacuum state of the magnon and cavity modes. Additionally, the mathematical inequalities for obtaining the cavity-magnon steering and qubit-qubit steering are introduced. The findings reveal that steering between the magnon and cavity is asymmetric, while steering between the two qubits is symmetric in our system. Increasing the atom-field coupling improves steering from magnon to field, while reducing steering between the two qubits. Moreover, increasing magnon-field coupling enhances and elevates the lower bounds of qubit-qubit steering. Further, adding the damping rates causes deterioration of the cavity-magnon steering and qubit-qubit steering. However, the steering persistence is slightly greater when damping originates from the cavity field rather than the magnon modes based on the coupling parameters.

We report a unique case of a 53-year-old male with idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH), predominantly affecting overweight young women. The patient, known to have diabetes mellitus, familial Mediterranean fever, and dyslipidemia, presented with blurred vision and throbbing headaches. Clinical examination, brain MRI/MRV, and a lumbar puncture confirmed the IIH diagnosis. Management with acetazolamide improved the patient's symptoms significantly. This case highlights the potential for IIH occurrence in men and underscores the need for early diagnosis and intervention to prevent potential visual impairment, typically more severe in male patients.

Oncologic disorders, such as lung adenocarcinoma, can intricately interplay with the coagulation cascade, often leading to thromboembolic events, of which deep vein thrombosis (DVT) stands out prominently. In this report, we present a unique case of a 50-year-old non-smoking Jordanian male who exhibited bilateral DVT as an unexpected preliminary manifestation of an aggressive lung adenocarcinoma. Although the patient did not possess common risk factors for DVT, the bilateral presentation drew attention to the possibility of an underlying malignancy. Subsequent investigations revealed a stage 4 primary lung adenocarcinoma. This case underscores the imperative of maintaining a broad differential in cases of DVT, especially when presenting bilaterally and without evident etiology. Such early detection and intervention, accompanied by collaborative medical strategies and specialized care, can play a pivotal role in enhancing patient prognosis and survival rates. This case exemplifies the potential of DVT, particularly when bilateral, as a harbinger of a more sinister underlying pathology like lung adenocarcinoma.

The third most lethal cancer in the world is gastric adenocarcinoma, which is uncommon in children. Patients with gastric adenocarcinoma typically experience vomiting, abdominal pain, anemia, and weight loss. We present a case of a 14.5-year-old male with gastric adenocarcinoma that manifested as left hip pain, epigastric pain, dysphagia, weight loss, and melena. Physical exam revealed cachexia, jaundice, a palpable epigastric mass, palpable liver edge, and left hip tenderness. Laboratory tests showed microcytic anemia, increase in carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), and abnormal liver function test. Endoscopy revealed a cardial mass extending to the esophagus involving the gastroesophageal junction (GEJ). The gastric mass biopsy was consistent with invasive, moderately-differentiated gastric adenocarcinoma, which confirmed the diagnosis of gastric adenocarcinoma. Furthermore, a bone isotope scan revealed mildly hypervascular active bone pathology within the left proximal femur implying possible metastasis. Computed tomography scans and barium swallow were also helpful in supporting the diagnosis. Our case report emphasizes that gastric adenocarcinoma should be encompassed in the differential diagnosis of pediatric patients with hip pain.

P2Y12 has a key role in platelet aggregation and thrombus formation via an ADP-induced platelet activation mechanism. Recently, P2Y12 antagonists have become of great interest in the clinical management of antithrombotic therapy. In light of this, we explored the pharmacophoric space of P2Y12 using structure-based pharmacophore modelling. Subsequently, genetic algorithm and multiple linear regression analyses were conducted to select the best combination of physicochemical descriptors and pharmacophoric models to create useful predictive quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) equation (r 2 = 0.9135, r (adj) 2 = 0.9147, r (PRESS) 2 = 0.9129, LOF = 0.3553). One pharmacophoric model emerged in the QSAR equation and was validated by analysing receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. The model was then used to screen 200 000 compounds from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) database. The top-ranked hits were in vitro tested, where their IC50's range between 4.20 to 35.00 µM when measured via the electrode aggregometry assay. Whilst, the VASP phosphorylation assay showed 29.70% platelet reactivity index for NSC618159, which is superior to that of ticagrelor.

By creating a precise access cavity (AC) and finishing the pulp chamber, less invasive endodontic therapy attempts to improve conventional endodontic therapy. The cingulum, oblique ridge, and roof of the pulp chamber, which all play a vital role in functional activity, might be preserved to increase fracture resistance. To reduce tooth structure loss, endodontic new ACs have recently been created. The preparation of the conservative access opening had advanced to a new level with the advent of microscopes and improved root canal equipment. The conservation of the cervical dentin is the most essential factor in preserving the restored tooth's normal function and lifespan. In recent years, minimally invasive endodontics has posed a challenge to the traditional method.

P2Y12 is a platelet surface protein which is responsible for the amplification of P2Y1 response. It plays a crucial role in platelet aggregation and thrombus formation through an ADP-induced platelet activation mechanism. Despite that P2Y12 platelets' receptor is an excellent target for developing antiplatelet agents, only five approved medications are currently in clinical use which are classified into thienopyridines and nucleoside-nucleotide derivatives. In the past years, many attempts for developing new candidates as P2Y12 inhibitors have been made. This review highlights the importance and the role of P2Y12 receptor as part of the coagulation cascade, its reported congenital defects, and the type of assays which are used to verify and measure its activity. Furthermore, an overview is given of the clinically approved medications, the potential naturally isolated inhibitors, and the synthesised candidates which were tested either in-vitro, in-vivo and/or clinically. Finally, we outline the in-silico attempts which were carried out using virtual screening, molecular docking and dynamics simulations in efforts of designing novel P2Y12 antagonists. Various phytochemical classes might be considered as a corner stone for the discovery of novel P2Y12 inhibitors, whereas a wide range of ring systems can be deliberated as leading scaffolds in that area synthetically and theoretically.

Background: Pharmacists have an important role in providing correct information, education, and counseling to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic and other health crisis. In order to perform their duties in a correct manner, they must receive adequate and evidence-based information from official resources. Objectives: The objectives of the study were to examine the practices of community pharmacists towards dispensing drugs during the COVI-19 pandemic and assess their knowledge concerning the safety and efficacy of these drugs in managing the COVID-19 infection. Methods: This was a web-based cross-sectional study conducted through the distribution of the questionnaire via the social media through a google form. The drugs examined were azithromycin, hydroxychloroquine, dexamethasone, and certain antiviral drugs. Results: A total of 485 community pharmacists responded to the questionnaire. Pharmacists dispensed these medications based on the physician's orders, 420 (86.6%), according to the pharmacist´s recommendations 327 (67.4%), or upon patient´s request 278 (57.3%). Azithromycin was the most dispensed drug and two thirds of the pharmacists dispensed drugs more than 10 times. Community pharmacists did not possess adequate knowledge concerning the effectiveness and safety of the drugs in the management of COVID-19 infection. In the multivariate linear regression analysis; education, type of university, and the average number of daily customers were statistically significant, p values: 0.004, 0.002, and 0.016, respectively. Pharmacists did not have a positive attitude towards dispensing drugs based on their own recommendations. More than half of the pharmacists agreed that they thought it was a correct decision to give these drugs based on their own judgment. Conclusion: Community pharmacists should not receive information from non-official sources. Strict regulations and implementation of disciplinary actions against pharmacists that dispense prescription only drugs based on their medical judgment are necessary to stop this illegal behavior. A proactive role demonstrated by the pharmacists and based on scientific facts will reduce misconceptions and hazardous behavior of self-medication using prescription only drugs based on rumors and fictitious news.

The interacting of two qubits and an N-level atom based on su(2) Lie algebra in the presence of both qubit-qubit interaction and dissipation term is considered. The effects of the qubit-qubit interaction and the dissipation term on the dynamics of the proposed system are discussed in detail for certain values of the number of levels. The dynamical expressions of the observable operators are obtained using the Heisenberg equation of motion. The population inversion and linear entropy, as well as the concurrence formula as a measure of entanglement between the two qubits are calculated and discussed. The roles of the number of levels, the qubit-qubit coupling parameter and the dissipation rate on these quantities are also discussed. We explore the sudden birth and sudden death of the entanglement phenomena with and without the dissipation term.

BACKGROUND: Although there is a recommendation that toddlers be screened for Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) during their 18- and 24-month well-care child visits, diagnosis often occurs well after the child turns 4 years old. Such delayed diagnosis hinders the implementation of early intervention thus worsens the long-term prognosis of ASD. OBJECTIVE: The current community-based study in its stage I aimed at early screening of Egyptian toddlers for ASD using an Arabic validated version of Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers (M-CHAT). METHODOLOGY: A cross-sectional community-based descriptive study was carried out enrolling 5546 Egyptian toddlers. They were randomly recruited from those attending Primary Health Care Units in six Egyptian governorates with a fair representation of the urban, semi-urban, and rural Egyptian populations. An Arabic validated version of M-CHAT was used as a screening tool for ASD. RESULTS: The current study revealed failure of M-CHAT (suspected to have ASD and needs further evaluation) in 1320 out of the enrolled 5546 Egyptian toddlers (23.8%). CONCLUSION: M-CHAT as a screening tool for ASD has flagged a considerable percent of the enrolled toddlers that necessitates referral for further evaluation (stage II) to settle the diagnosis of ASD in the true positive cases. Perfecting the delicate balance between sensitivity and specificity for ASD screening tools is crucial in order not to miss early detection of ASD cases and at the same time, to avoid over-diagnosis with subsequent abuse of the limited healthcare resources in developing countries.

Motivated by the growing interest in the nanophysics and the field of quantum thermodynamics we study an open quantum system consisting of two spatially separated two-level atoms (spins) coupled to a quantum oscillator (resonator field mode). There is no external driving. The spins of different energy splittings are each linked to a heat bath with different temperature. We find that the temperature gradient imposed on the system together with the oscillator operating as a kind of work reservoir makes this system act as a thermodynamic machine, in particular, as a heat engine (laser). We analyze the properties of the resulting resonator field and of the engine functionality. For the latter problem we use recently developed definitions of heat flux and power as well as a test, in which the resulting field is used as an input for a heat pump.
