[The mineralization of the regenerate and the hormonal regulation of bone formation during the treatment of a malunited diaphyseal fracture of the shin bones]. / Mineralizatsiia regenerata i gormonal'naia reguliatsiia kosteobrazovaniia pri lechenii nepravil'no srosshegosia pereloma diafiza kostei goleni.

In 68 patients with imperfectly united fracture of the crural bones who underwent treatment with the use of the Ilizarov's method, the processes of mineralization of the osseous regenerate being formed were studied. The most rapid deposition of the mineral substances was noted in gradual elimination of a deformity. In shortening of an extremity, the rate of mineralization depended on a size of the elongation performed. Increase in content of the osteotropic hormones and cyclic. nucleotides was indicative of the presence of favourable conditions for formation of osseous regenerate in correction of angular deformity by means of the Ilizarov's method.

[The role of cyclic nucleotides in reparative bone formation]. / Rol' tsiklicheskikh nukleotidov v reparativnom kosteobrazovanii.

Distinct alterations in content of cyclic nucleotides were observed during treatment of 133 patients with fractures of long tubular bones. The following effects were found after initial increase in cAMP content: increase in tissue permeability, aseptic inflammation, inhibition of cell mitosis, acceleration of cell enzymes synthesis, of protein biosynthesis and of the rate of microcirculation in the traumatized region. Elevation of cGMP concentration led to initiation of bone marrow proliferation, to augmented formation of organic matrix and its mineralization. Monitoring of cyclic nucleotides concentration enabled to evaluate the reparative osteogenesis activity.

[Radionuclide research on reparative bone formation during the treatment of spiral bone fractures of the leg by G. A. Ilizarov's method]. / Radionuklidnye issledovaniia reparativnogo kosteobrazovaniia pri lechenii vintoobraznykh perelomov kostei goleni po G. A. Ilizarovu.

A study was made of reparative osteogenesis and the content of mineral bone components in 60 patients with spiral fractures of the leg bones during treatment by transosseous osteosynthesis. The time of maximum labeled pyrophosphate accumulation was determined by a degree of the initial dislocation of fragments: in the dislocation to the cortical layer it was noted on the 42nd day, by 1/3 on the 45th day, by 2/3 on the 50th day, to the cross section on the 60th day. The demineralization of bone fragments in the dislocation to the cortical layer was 34%, by 1/2 37%, by 2/3 41% and to the cross section by 44%. The labeled sulphuric colloid accumulation by bone marrow cells was maximal in minimal dislocations and decreased with growing dislocation.

[Radionuclide studies on healing in closed transverse fractures of the long tubular bones]. / Radionuklidnye issledovaniia zazhivleniia pri zakrytykh poperechnykh perelomakh dlinnykh trubchatykh kostei.

A total of 86 patients were examined by 99mTc-pyrophosphate in the course of therapy using the transosseous synthesis method. An elevated accumulation of the radiopharmaceutical was observed since the first day following a trauma. Maximum enhancement of metabolic processes in the absence of fragment displacement was noted on the 8th week and in the lack of displacement on the 9th-10th week. Then the intensity of bone formation got weaker. It was found appropriate that G. A. Ilizarov's apparatus should be removed exactly at that time. The content of mineral components in the regenerate was over 60% which demonstrated the bone ability to stand physiological loads.
