RESUMO

We have devised innovative anti-loosening bolts with a double thread-mechanism (denoted DTB-IIC) composed of coaxial single and multiple coarse threads. In this study, we first developed a high-speed and high-precision grinding system for dedicated thread rolling dies of the DTB-IIC. Compared to conventional electro-discharge machining dies, ground dies significantly reduced processing time and costs, and achieved more than 10 times higher durability in thread rolling tests. Comparative Junker vibration loosening tests based on an ISO standard were conducted on several types of DTB-IICs. The amount of backlash δ between the inner multiple-thread nut and DTB-IIC bolt has a great effect on the initial drop of the bolt axial preload, and the rolled DTB-IIC with a relatively small δ secured a residual axial load rate of ≥85%, which satisfies the rating-1 of good self-locking behavior. A 3D FEM model was employed to simulate the initial loosening process in the Junker test, and the analytical results agreed well with the experimental ones by adjusting δ appropriately. Both experimental and analytical results indicate that the high loosening resistance of DTB-IIC is due to the synergistic effect of the interference mechanism of two types of nuts and the jammed locking state.

RESUMO

Understanding the factors driving the spread and evolution of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) at the local, regional, national, and international levels is important in protecting against future pandemics. By exploring their viral genomes, we attempted to analyse the spread of SARS-CoV-2 and its evolutionary convergence in Kashiwa City, as an example of a representative commuter town in Japan. From September 2020 to January 2023, a total of 47,134 nasopharyngeal swab and saliva specimens were collected from patients in 47 local clinics and hospitals, covering the vast majority of healthcare facilities. All SARS-CoV-2-positive samples were subjected to whole genome sequencing. Based on the analysis of 5,536 identified genomes, all major strains were represented. Unique regional mutations were occasionally identified in each strain. Inspection of these mutations revealed that the overall base substitution rate increased with progressive waves of the pandemic, at an overall rate of 2.56 bases/year. Interestingly, the spread and evolutionary patterns appeared to be distinct between regions and between individual clinics. Further analysis of the synonymous base substitution rate showed that the speed of viral evolution accelerated coincident with the beginning of public vaccination. Comprehensive genomic epidemiological studies, as presented here, should be useful in precisely understanding the pandemic and preparing for possible future pandemics.

RESUMO

The ability of a rapid-heating solvothermal process to synthesize porous nanocrystal assemblies composed of the multiple transition metals was demonstrated. The rapid heating facilitated the quick formation of nascent nanocrystals to generate homogeneous mixed transition-metal oxides. Systematic studies of the synthesis of mixed-metal oxides under various experimental conditions indicated that the present simple method is suitable to develop a wide variety of binary and ternary transition-metal systems such as Co/Mn, Ni/Mn, and Co/Mn/Fe mixed-metal oxides. The products obtained from the rapid heating process were hierarchically assembled porous nanospheres composed of sub-10 nm nanocrystals, which had an extraordinarily high surface area and nano/mesopores. Electrochemical tests revealed the high catalytic ability of the porous nanocrystal assemblies in water oxidation.
