Population morbidity in the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant observation zone as an integral part of public health. / STAN ZAKhVORIuVANOSTI NASELENNIa ZONY SPOSTEREZhENNIa ZAPORIZ'KOÏ ATOMNOÏ ELEKTROSTANTsIÏ IaK SKLADOVA GROMADS'KOGO ZDOROV'Ia.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the health status of adult population living in the Ukrainian nuclear power industry obser vation zone on the example of Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. MATERIALS AND METHODS: System review, analytic, sociological survey and statistical methods. RESULTS: There was established an increase in the incidence of digestive diseases among adult population in Nikopol of Dnipropetrovsk region, which is included in the Zaporizhzhia NPP observation zone. The highest increase was observed in the incidence of peptic ulcer, gastritis and duodenitis, cholecystitis and cholangitis by 340 %, 305 % and 83 %, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: In connection with the residence in industrially developed region and NPP life extension in Ukraine, the possible influence of harmful factors on health status of the population of observation zones, an increase in the incidence of digestive diseases among adult population, there is required continuous monitoring and detailed study of public health.

[Structural-functional status of the cardiomyocyte cell membrane under experimental pathology]. / Strukturno-funktsional'nyi stan plazmatychnykh membran kardiomiotsytiv za umov eksperymental'noï patolohiï.

The results of research conducted on the cardiomyocytes plasma membranes structural and functional state under the experimental stress and atherosclerosis are displayed in this article. These experimental pathology is determined to be accompanied by some stereotypic quantitative and qualitative modifications occurred in the lipid matrix of the cardiomyocytes plasma membranes--increase of cholesterol content, decrease of phospholipids, accumulation of lisophospholipids and fatty acid. There are demonstrated results that the experimental stress has an atherogenic effect on the plasma membranes of cells by imputting the cholesterol into the membrane even in the intact animals with normal lipid metabolism. All these modifications are also accompanied by the activation of free-radical oxidation. All these changes are capable to lie in the basis of physical and chemical properties mechanism modification of membranes: modification of lipid matrix, change of viscosity, ion-transport properties of cardiomyocytes membranes, oppression of Na+, K(+)-ATPase activity.

The authors demonstrate the need in a law of the Ukraine on organization of population health protection by using an original methodological approach: they separate organization of medical activity and primary health care. The state is expected to play the leading role in public health as a regulator, but not manager. Philosophy of financial/economic and organization/financial basis of medical activities is described in the context of modern legislation.

[Functional and morphological characteristics of coronary vessels in varying degree of coronary perfusion]. / Funktsional'no-morfolohichna kharakterystyka koronarnykh sudyn pry riznii vyrazhennosti obmezhennia koronarnoï perfuziï.

Limitation of coronary perfusion of different degree induces inhomogeneous changes in resistance of vessels in the hypoperfusing zone: an adequate dilatory regulatory reaction may be followed by an increase in resistance of the coronary vessels. An active component of diastolic coronary resistance used to analyze vascular reactions, rate and character of changes in resistance under conditions of coronary perfusion as well as histological and electron-microscopic estimation of the vascular wall state testify to reversibility and active character of the observed changes in coronary resistance including its increase. This increase is pathogenetically significant as it may induce further development of the coronary perfusion disorder.
