RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Family centered developmental care (FCDC) are a philosophy of care in the neonatal care units (NICU), based on the control of sensory stimulation the adequate position and of newborn and the family involvement of cares. Nursing staff are the main providers of this care. Sanitary measure to control of the COVID-19, such as the use of masks, isolation of positive cases and capacity limit, conditioned the implementation of FCDC. OBJECTIVES: To understand the meaning of the experience of the nursing staff of a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) on the implementation of the FCDC, under the sanitary measures imposed for the containment of COVID-19. METHODS: A qualitative study was conducted from the descriptive phenomenological paradigm in which NICU nurses were recruited. The qualitative data collection was carried out through open-ended and semi-structured interviews. These were analyzed respectively through a preliminary narrative analysis and a thematic analysis of the informant nurses' narratives and discourses. RESULTS: Three open-ended and 7 semi-structured interviews were conducted from which three main topics emerged: 1) changes in the FCDC derived from the sanitary restrictions implemented for the containment of COVID-19; 2) changes in interpersonal relationships in the context of a pandemic, and 3) transition to normality. CONCLUSIONS: The nurses of NICU perceived changes in the implementation of the FCDC due to the containment of COVID-19, that modified the relationship with the parents of NB, accelerating their training as caregivers, and involved the implementation of new measures such as video calls.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To determine the efficacy of dry needling (DN) in the treatment of myofascial trigger points (MTrP) compared to other methods of physical therapy in the treatment of neck pain. METHOD: A systematic search was carried out in the MEDLINE Complete (EBSCO), Pubmed, PEDro and Scopus databases. The quality of the studies was assessed using the standard of biases of the Cochrane Collaboration. RESULTS: Eleven articles met the eligibility criteria. The characteristics of the participants and the results of the comparison of the application of DN with ultrasound, TENS, manual therapy techniques (passive stretching, strain-counterstrain, ischaemic pressure) and kinesiotape bandage are described. CONCLUSION: DN was a useful technique in reducing neck pain. However, its efficacy in the treatment of cervicalgia could not be determined in comparison with other physiotherapy approaches.

RESUMO

The stomatognathic system is the anatomo-functional unit of the cranio-cervico-facial region. Some dysfunctions affect its motor control. The aim of this study was to analyse the clinical usefulness of the various scales and instruments used in the assessment of postural control in people with temporomandibular disorders. A systematic review was carried out by 2independent reviewers in the PubMed, Medline, Ebsco, Science Direct and PEDro databases, selecting observational studies published between January 2006 and March 2017. The risk of bias and methodological quality was analysed following Cochrane indications and the Downs and Black quality scale. Ten studies were included, of which 9used computerised platforms, one added photogrammetry and one used electromyography. Seven studies were classified as moderate quality and 3as low quality. Posturography was the most widely used assessment instrument. Methodological differences did not allow determination of their clinical implications or the relationship between balance and the presence of temporomandibular disorders.

RESUMO

This work proposes a spatially explicit mixed integer linear programming modelling framework representing the dynamic evolution of a bioethanol supply chain (SC) under increasing biofuel demand and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission savings over time. Key features of the proposed framework comprise: (i) the incorporation of available set-aside rural surfaces for energy crop cultivation; (ii) the acknowledgement ofan economic value to the overall GHG emissions through the introduction of an Emission Trading System. Multiple technological options are assessed to exploit the co-product Distiller's Dried Grains with Solubles either as animal fodder (standard usage) or as fuel for heat and power generation or as raw material for biogas production (and hence heat and power). Bioethanol production in Northern Italy is chosen as a demonstrative case study.
