RESUMO

All fluorescence white organic light-emitting diodes (WOLEDs) based on thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters are an attractive route to realize highly efficient and high color quality white light sources. However, harvesting triplet excitons in these devices remains a formidable challenge, particularly for WOLEDs involving conventional fluorescent emitters. Herein, we report a universal design strategy based on a co-host system and a cascaded exciton transfer configuration. The co-host system furnishes a broad and charge-balanced exciton generation zone, which simultaneously endows the devices with low efficiency roll-off and good color stability. A yellow TADF layer is put forward as an intermediate sensitizer layer between the blue TADF light-emitting layer (EML) and the red fluorescence EML, which not only constructs an efficient cascaded Förster energy transfer route but also blocks the triplet exciton loss channel through Dexter energy transfer. With the proposed design strategy, three-color all fluorescence WOLEDs reach a maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 22.4% with a remarkable color rendering index (CRI) of 92 and CIE coordinates of (0.37, 0.40). Detailed optical simulation confirms the high exciton utilization efficiency. Finally, by introducing an efficient blue emitter 5Cz-TRZ, a maximum EQE of 30.1% is achieved with CIE coordinates of (0.42, 0.42) and a CRI of 84 at 1000 cd m-2. These outstanding results demonstrate the great potential of all fluorescence WOLEDs in solid-state lighting and display panels.

RESUMO

Tandem structures with different subpixels are promising for perovskite-based multicolor electroluminescence (EL) devices in ultra-high-resolution full-color displays; however, realizing excellent luminance- and color-independent tunability considering the low brightness and stability of blue perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) remains a challenge. Herein, a bright and stable blue gallium nitride (GaN) LED is utilized for vertical integration with a green MAPbBr3 PeLED, successfully achieving a Pe-GaN tandem LED with independently tunable luminance and color. The electronic and photonic co-excitation (EPCE) effect is found to suppress the radiative recombination and current injection of PeLEDs, leading to degraded luminance and current efficiency under direct current modulation. Accordingly, the pulse-width modulation is introduced to the tandem device with a negligible EPCE effect, and the average hybrid current efficiency is significantly improved by 139.5%, finally achieving a record tunable luminance (average tuning range of 16631 cd m-2 at an arbitrary color from blue to green) for perovskite-based multi-color LEDs. The reported excellent independent tunability can be the starting point for perovskite-based multicolor EL devices, enabling the combination with matured semiconductor technologies to facilitate their commercialization in advanced display applications with ultra-high resolution.

RESUMO

Fano resonance has an asymmetric and sharp resonance peak near the resonance wavelength, enhancing optical modulation performance. Here, a Fano resonant silicon optical modulator with a micro-ring resonator (MRR) coupled with a T-shaped waveguide is designed. Compared with an MRR modulator, a Fano resonance-based modulator has a smaller wavelength range of changes in optical intensity (from 0 a.u. to 1 a.u.). Under the condition of achieving the same light intensity change, Fano resonance only needs to shift the wavelength by 0.07 times compared with MRR. By optimizing the doping section and the Fano resonance line shape, the modulation depth of the Fano modulator is 12.44 dB, and an insertion loss of 0.41 dB is obtained. Moreover, it improves the modulation linearity. This modulator provides a new idea, to the best of our knowledge, for the single-cavity Fano resonance modulator.

RESUMO

Extracellular vesicles and particles (EVPs), which contain the same surface proteins as their mother cells, are promising biomarkers for cancer liquid biopsy. However, most of the isolation methods of EVPs are time-consuming and complicated, and hence, sensitive detection and classification methods are required for EVPs. Here, we report a facile polyethylene glycol (PEG)-based method for isolating and classifying EVPs with label-free surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) and pattern recognition algorithm. There are only three steps in the PEG-based isolation method, and it does not require ultracentrifugation, which makes it a low-cost and easy-to-use method. Three types of common male cancer cell lines, namely leukemia (THP-1), prostate cancer (DU-145), and colorectal cancer (COLO-205), and one healthy male blood sample, were utilized to isolate EVPs. To collect the SERS spectra of EVPs, a novel planar nanomaterial, namely amino molybdenum oxide (AMO) nanoflakes, was applied, with the enhancement factor being obtained as 3.2 × 102. Based on the principal component analysis and support vector machine (PCA-SVM) algorithm, cancer and normal EVPs were classified with 97.4% accuracy. However, among the cancer EVPs, the accuracy, precision, and sensitivity were found to be 90.0%, 90.9%, and 83.3% for THP-1; 86.7%, 80.0%, and 92.3% for DU-145; 96.7%, 83.3%, and 100% for COLO-205, respectively. Thus, this work will improve the isolation, detection, and classification of EVPs and promote the development of cancer liquid biopsies.

RESUMO

In this study, we analyze the influence of the pore structure of an SBA-15 particle on the light emission from its inner adsorbed quantum dots (QDs) and outer light-emitting diode (LED) chips. It is found that the particle features of a high refractive index, comparable feature size of pore structure, and lower amount of QD adsorption help with QD light extraction, demonstrating a mechanism to suppress QD light propagating through pores and thus reducing the reabsorption loss. We consequently developed highly efficient QD white LEDs with wet-mixing QD/SBA-15 nanocomposite particles (NPs) by further optimizing the packaging methods and the introduced NP mass ratio. The LEDs demonstrated a record luminous efficacy (the ratio of luminous flux to electrical power) of 206.8 (entrusted test efficiency of 205.8 lm W-1 certificated by China National Accreditation Service) and 137.6 lm W-1 at 20 mA for white LEDs integrating only green QDs and green-red QD color convertors, respectively, with improved operating stability. These results are comparable to conventional phosphor-based white LEDs, which can be a starting point for white LEDs only using QDs as convertors toward commercialization in the near future.

RESUMO

The structurally colored surface of anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) is highly useful for decoration and anti-counterfeiting applications, which are of significance for both scientific and industrial communities. This study presents the first demonstration of the fabrication of an iridescent film of porous AAO on an industrial aluminum alloy substrate, with alternatingly electrodeposited Cu and SiO2 nanoparticles (NPs). A rainbow effect was effectively obtained for the optimized sample with appropriate alternating electrodeposition times. The structure and optical properties of a series of the electrodeposited AAO-based thin film were investigated. The Cu and SiO2 NPs were found to be uniformly deposited into the porous structure of the AAO film, and the alternating electrodeposition repeating twice led to the formation of the optimal AAO-based thin film that exhibited a rainbow effect and superior anti-corrosion performance.
