RESUMO

We studied structural rearrangement of the myometrium of C57BL/6 mice during the postpartum period under conditions of acute toxic hepatosis induced by CCl4 injection and its correction with immobilized hyaluronidase. In contrast to physiological pregnancy, involution of the myometrium in mice under conditions of acute toxic hepatosis were not completed by the 10th day of the postpartum period. When toxic hepatosis was corrected with immobilized hyaluronidase, the main mechanism of postpartum involution of the mouse myometrium was clasmacytosis, the process of postpartum involution was significantly accelerated, but not completed by the 10th day, probably due to reduced vascularization of the myometrium.

RESUMO

Expression of VEGF-A in Walker 256 carcinosarcoma and mandibular salivary gland of rats during paraneoplastic process and various regimens of chemotherapy with melatonin and cyclophosphamide were studied by immunohistochemical methods. VEGF-A expression increased in the tumor node and salivary gland after monotherapy with melatonin and cyclophosphamide during progression of tumor growth and paraneoplastic syndrome. A decrease in VEGF-A expression in the tumor node and salivary gland was found after monotherapy with melatonin and cyclophosphamide and, especially, after combined treatment, which proves maximum therapeutic efficiency of combined administration of chemical agents with various mechanisms of action. Overexpression of VEGF-A in the mandibular salivary gland can have diagnostic and predictive value in early diagnostics of neoplasms.

RESUMO

We studied the main biological characteristics of spontaneous growth of Walker 256 carcinosarcoma and under conditions of antitumor therapy. A combination of whole-body hyperthermia and cytostatic treatment (cyclophosphamide and melatonin) produced maximum suppression of the tumor growth, inhibition of mitotic activity of tumor cells, and stimulation of their necrotic and apoptotic death. The maximum decrease in mitotic activity of tumor cells was observed after combined exposure to whole-body hyperthermia and both cytostatic preparations; enhancement of apoptotic cell death and the decrease in the tumor node weight were also most pronounced under these conditions and practically no body weight loss was recorded in this case.

RESUMO

Quantitative changes in mononuclear phagocytes in lymph nodes and tuberculous granulomas in patients with generalized tuberculosis suggest that accumulation of these cells in granulomas occurs due to their recruiting from bone marrow precursors, rather than from lymph nodes. Antimycobacterial therapy leads to dissociation of granulomas accompanied by accumulation of macrophages in lymph nodes. The number of granulomas decreases, but not their size and relative content of epithelioid cells remain unchanged. With due regard of the microanatomy of granulomas, epithelioid cells are regarded as the main site of mycobacterium persistence and the object of targeted drug delivery.
