RESUMO

The imaging spectrometer's high performance in practical applications may be compromised by environmental factors, particularly temperature variations, posing a challenge to its stability. Temperature fluctuations can induce spectral shift, directly impacting the accuracy of spectral measurements, subsequently influencing the precision of radiometric measurements. To address this issue, this study investigates a dual-channel UV imaging spectrometer. This instrument boasts a wavelength calibration accuracy of 0.01 nm. This paper conducts an in-depth analysis of the various mechanisms through which temperature changes influence the spectral line offset in the imaging spectrometer, integrating actual orbital temperature data to discuss the instrument's temperature load settings. The impact of temperature on spectral shift is examined using finite element analysis and optical design software. Estimations of spectral shift were made based on temperature variations. Simulation results indicated that the maximum deviation of spectral shift is estimated at 0.018 nm under a temperature condition of 16 ± 1°C. Under a more controlled orbital temperature condition (16 ± 0.3°C), the maximum deviation of spectral shift decreased to 0.01 nm. Experimental data revealed that at 16 ± 1°C, the maximum deviation of spectral shift did not exceed 0.01 nm. This effectively corroborates our theoretical analysis. The relationship between temperature and spectral shift offers a crucial theoretical foundation for calibrating spectral measurements and managing the thermal conditions of the instrument.

RESUMO

In the marine environment, steel materials usually encounter serious problems with chemical or electrochemical corrosion and fouling by proteins, bacteria, and other marine organisms. In this work, a green bifunctional Z-scheme CuOx/Ag/P25 heterostructure coating material was designed to achieve the coordination of corrosion prevention and antifouling by matching the redox potential of the reactive oxygen species and the corrosion potential of 304SS. When CuOx/Ag/P25 heterostructure was coupled with the protected metal, the open circuit potential under illumination negatively shifted about 240 mV (vs. Ag/AgCl) and the photoinduced current density reached 16.6 µA cm-2. At the same time, more reactive oxygen species were produced by the Z-shape structure, and then the photocatalytic sterilization effect was stronger. Combined with the chemical sterilization of Ag and the oxide of Cu, the bacterial survival rate of CuOx/Ag/P25 was low (0.006%) compared with the blank sample. This design provides a strategy for developing green dual-functional coating materials with photoelectrochemical anticorrosion and antifouling properties.

RESUMO

ABSTRACT: The empty-nest older people are becoming a significant social phenomenon in the rural of China. Most studies on the health of the empty-nest older people contain these older people who have no children or dead children. The emotional experience of the older people with and without children is quite different, our study only chose the empty-nest older people who had children in the rural of Lishui, China. The purpose of this study is to explore the differences of the health conditions between empty-nest and non-empty-nest older people living in the rural areas of China, including items of chronic metabolic diseases, fall injury, and mental health. Our research found that empty-nest older people had higher incidence of fall injury (17.00% vs 6.31%, P = .006) and suffer more severe depression (P = .015) than the non-empty-nest older people. The adjusted odds ratio of fall injury and depression for empty-nest older people compared with the non-empty-nest older people were 2.76 (95% CI, 1.17-6.48) and 2.25 (95% CI, 1.36-3.67), respectively. Our results suggest that empty-nest older people are more likely to suffer from depression and fall injury than non-empty-nest older people living in the rural of China.

RESUMO

Dimethylformamide (DMF) is widely used as a solvent in the production of synthetic leather. Previous studies have focused on workers exposed to DMF in leather factories; however, little attention has been paid to the general population. This study was conducted to examine the effects of DMF exposure on elderly residents living near synthetic leather factories. A total of 962 subjects over 60 years of age in proximity to these factories (monitoring points) were enrolled as the exposure group, and 1924 permanent residents living distant from the factories were enrolled as the control group. The exposure group was divided into 3 groups according to their distance from the monitoring points. Physical examination, routine blood tests, and liver and renal function data were collected, and the DMF concentration in the air was analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy. The prevalence of abnormal heart rhythm, electrocardiogram and B-mode ultrasound results in the exposure group was significantly greater than in the control group. Aspartate transaminase (AST), alanine transaminase (ALT), and blood urea nitrogen (BUN) levels in the exposure group also were higher than those in the control group (P < .01). There was an effect of distance from leather factories on liver and kidney dysfunction in the 3 exposure groups. Compared with the exposure group at >3 km distance from the source, the prevalence of increased AST, ALT, and BUN in the exposure group at <1 km was significantly greater (P < .001). It was concluded that DMF exposure was related to an increased risk of a cardiac injury and liver and kidney dysfunction.

RESUMO

NF-E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) plays an important role in tumour proliferation and chemoresistance. Nrf2 expression levels may be associated with prognosis of lung cancer, but previous results have been inconsistent. Pooled hazard ratios (HRs) and odds ratios were calculated to assess the prognostic value of the Nrf2 expression in this meta-analysis. Nine studies with 940 patients were included. A high Nrf2 expression level was significantly related to decreased overall survival (OS) (HR = 1.948, 95% CI = 1.564-2.427), lower response rate (HR = 2.675, 95% CI = 1.553-4.610), and poor progression-free survival (HR = 3.078, 95% CI = 1.791-5.293). Subgroup analysis demonstrated that high-Nrf2-expression was significantly correlated with worse OS of patients possessing epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs) or undergoing chemotherapeutic treatments (HR = 2.500, 95% CI = 1.556-4.018). Conversely, this high expression was not significantly related to the OS of patients with surgical resection (HR = 1.750, 95% CI = 0.995-3.080, and p=.052). High Nrf2 expression was significantly correlated with worse OS of patients in advanced stage (HR = 2.500, 95% CI = 1.556-4.018), compared with early cancer stage (HR = 1.609, 95% CI = 0.675-3.835, and p=.283). This meta-analysis suggests that high Nrf2 expression may be a predictive factor of poor outcomes in lung cancer. Therefore, Nrf2 likely plays an important role in prognostic evaluation and may be a therapeutic target for EGFR-TKIs therapy and chemotherapy.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the key genes in vitamin D metabolic pathway on the serum 25(OH)D level after long-term vitamin D3 supplementation and provide a theoretical basis for rational vitamin D3 supplementation in diabetic patients with different genetic backgrounds. METHODS: Patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) who met the inclusive criteria were given 800 IU of vitamin D3 daily for 30 consecutive months. Serum 25(OH)D levels was measured at enrollment and every 6 months after enrollment. The average value of four-time measurements represented individual serum 25(OH)D level during vitamin D3 supplementation. Multiplex TaqMan genotyping was used to determine the distribution of eight candidate SNPs in genes of DHCR7, CYP2R1, CYP27B1, CYP24A1, and VDR, which are key genes in the vitamin D metabolic pathway, in diabetic patients. RESULTS: At baseline, the average serum 25(OH)D level was 22.71 ± 6.87 ng/mL, and 17.9% of patients had a ≥30 ng/mL level. During supplementation, the level of 25(OH)D increased significantly at each time point, and the average 25(OH)D level increased to 30.61 ± 5.04 ng/mL; however, there were 44.6% of patients whose serum 25(OH)D levels were still below 30 ng/mL. In the patients with CYP27B1 (rs10877012) G/T genotype, 71.79% achieved sufficient level of 25(OH)D, which was significantly higher than the other two genotypes (P < 0.05). Compared with those with T/T genotype, the RR of the patients with rs10877012 for <30 ng/mL level was 0.544 (95% CI: 0.291-0.917), and the RR after adjusting age and outdoor activity was 0.560 (95% CI: 0.292-0.970). CONCLUSION: The serum 25(OH)D level in patients with diabetes mellitus after long-term vitamin D3 supplementation is associated with CYP27B1 polymorphism. Patients with rs10877012 G/T allele have a better response to vitamin D3 supplementation. TRIAL REGISTRATION: This trial is registered with ChiCTR-IPC-17012657.

RESUMO

Vitamin D deficiency is highly prevalent all over the world and dietary intakes of vitamin D are very low in China. In this study we aimed to determine whether vitamin D deficiency is associated with increased risk of metabolic syndrome (MetS) among Chinese type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients aged over 50 y. Serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] concentrations were measured in a cross-sectional sample of 270 T2DM patients aged over 50 y from Zhejiang. Data on demographic characteristics, anthropometry and other variables were collected. The mean of serum 25(OH)D was 22.93 ng/mL, and percentages of vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency were 43.71% and 39.63%, respectively. Serum 25(OH)D concentrations were significantly lower in subjects with MetS than in those without MetS (21.74 vs 24.96 ng/mL, p=0.001), and the prevalence of MetS significantly increased according to tertiles of serum 25(OH)D concentrations. After adjusting for multivariate factors, the adverse effect of lower serum 25(OH)D concentrations was significant (OR: 3.26, 95% CI: 1.03-7.34; p=0.044) in the group with BMI≥24 kg/m2 while the change in OR of MetS for each 10 ng/mL decrease in the serum 25(OH)D concentrations was 2.03 (95% CI: 1.10-3.79). These results suggest that serum 25(OH)D deficiency may be a risk factor of MetS among Chinese type 2 diabetic patients, especially in the T2DM with BMI≥24 kg/m2. The challenge is determining the mechanisms of vitamin D action for recommendation of vitamin D supplementation that reduces the risks of MetS and progression to T2DM.

RESUMO

The results investigating the relationship between vitamin D levels and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) are inconsistent. Thus, we focused on evaluating the association of vitamin D deficiency with GDM by conducting a meta-analysis of observed studies. A systematic literature search was conducted via PubMed, MEDLINE, and Cochrane library to identify eligible studies before August 2015. The meta-analysis of 20 studies including 9209 participants showed that women with vitamin D deficiency experienced a significantly increased risk for developing GDM (odds ratio (OR) = 1.53; 95% confidence intervals (CI), 1.33, 1.75) with a little heterogeneity (I² = 16.20%, p = 0.252). A noteworthy decrease of 4.93 nmol/L (95% CI, -6.73, -3.14) in serum 25(OH)D was demonstrated in the participants with GDM, and moderate heterogeneity was observed (I² = 61.40%, p = 0.001). Subgroup analysis with study design showed that there were obvious heterogeneities in nested case-control studies (I² > 52.5%, p < 0.07). Sensitivity analysis showed that exclusion of any single study did not materially alter the overall combined effect. In summary, the evidence from this meta-analysis indicates a consistent association between vitamin D deficiency and an increased risk of GDM. However, well-designed randomized controlled trials are needed to elicit the clear effect of vitamin D supplementation on prevention of GDM.
