RESUMO

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) refers to an endocrine disorder syndrome that are correlated with multiple organs and systems. PCOS has an effect on women at all stages of their lives, and it has an incidence nearly ranging from 6% to 20% worldwide. Mitochondrial dysfunctions (e.g., oxidative stress, dynamic imbalance, and abnormal quality control system) have been identified in patients and animal models of PCOS, and the above processes may play a certain role in the development of PCOS and its associated complications. However, their specific pathogenic roles should be investigated in depth. In this review, recent studies on the mechanisms of action of mitochondrial dysfunction in PCOS and its associated clinical manifestations are summarized from the perspective of tissues and organs, and some studies on the treatment of the disease by improving mitochondrial function are reviewed to highlight key role of mitochondrial dysfunction in this syndrome.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Low density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 11 (LRP11) was involved in the progression of several tumors. However, its role in cervical cancer still remains uncertain. METHODS: The original tumor data was downloaded from the Cancer Genome Atlas and genotype-tissue expression databases. The expression of LRP11 in normal tissues, tumor tissues and adjacent tissues were evaluated. In addition, we also explored the genetic alteration, prognostic value, and gene function of LRP11. We deeply assessed the interaction between LRP11 and tumor immunity at the pan-cancer level. Finally, research on the association between LRP11 and the resistance of anti-tumor drugs was carried out. RESULTS: LRP11 was highly expressed and played a risk prognostic factor in cervical cancer and a variety of tumors. Enrichment analysis revealed that LRP11 was involved in multiple tumor malignant pathways. Our research also pointed out the unique role between LRP11 and tumor immune microenvironment. The tumor immune microenvironment of patients with high expression of LRP11 are lack of most immune cells, indicating a immune desert tumor microenvironment. The final drug resistant analysis suggested that patients with high expression of LRP11 may be related to the resistance of many anti-tumor drugs. CONCLUSION: LRP11 was a potential oncogene and prognostic marker in cervical cancer and pan-cancer. Patients with high LRP11 expression may have immune desert tumor microenvironment.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The recent article Copper induces cell death by targeting lipoylated TCA cycle proteins has attracted much attention. Although copper-induced cell death has only recently been formally proposed, it has been studied much earlier. This study aims to undertake a bibliometric analysis of the literature on copper-induced cell death to understand the development of copper-induced cell death better and identify potential new research directions. METHODS: With the help of Cite Space software, visual analysis is carried out on the annual number of published papers, countries/regions and institutions, journals co-citation, literature co-citation and reference burst, keywords co-occurrence, clustering, and burst. RESULTS: A search of 770 articles published in English over the last ten years showed a fluctuating trend of increasing numbers of articles. China had the highest number of articles (190% or 24.68%), followed by the USA and India. Inflammation, biological evaluation, nanoparticle, and cu(ii) have been popular research themes in the last 4 years. The keyword clusters are summarized in 8 categories, including exposure, complexe, er stress, cleavage, paraptosis, cancer, glutamate, reactive oxygen species (ROS), expression. The hot topics are mainly focused on the exploration of mechanisms and related diseases, including induced apoptosis, aggregation, autophagy, endoplasmic reticulum stress, induced oxidative stress, and inflammation. Parkinson's disease and cancer are 2 diseases that are closely related to copper-induced cell death. CONCLUSION: This study provides a visual analysis of copper-induced cell death trends and provides some hidden potentially useful information for future research directions.

RESUMO

The incidence of liver cancer is extremely high worldwide and poses a serious threat to human life and health. But at present, apart from radiotherapy, chemotherapy, liver transplantation, and early resection, sorafenib was the main systemic therapy proven to have clinical efficacy for unresectable liver cancer (HCC) until 2017. Despite the emerging immunotherapy in the past decade with immune inhibitors such as PD - 1 being approved and applied to clinical treatment, there are still some patients with no response. This review aims to elucidate the mechanisms underlying the tumor microenvironment of hepatocellular carcinoma and thus analyze the effectiveness of targeting the tumor microenvironment to improve the therapeutic efficacy of hepatocellular carcinoma, including the effectiveness and feasibility of immunotherapy, tumor oncolytic viruses and anti-vascular proliferation therapy.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Approximately 5%-20% of reproductive women suffer from polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Auricular points acupressure (AA) may serve as alternative management for PCOS for its benefits in both physical and psychological well-being. However, the effects of AA for insulin resistance (IR) in overweight/obese PCOS women have not been confirmed. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: The present study is designed as a randomised, placebo-controlled pilot trial to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of AA in treating IR in women with PCOS. A total of 60 eligible PCOS subjects will be randomised into an intervention group (AA group) and a control group (sham AA group) in a ratio of 1:1. Magnetic beads will be taped to the auricular points by the same senior acupuncture specialist from the First Affiliated Hospital, Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine. The treatment will last for 12 weeks. Primary outcome measure will be changes in homeostasis model assessment of IR between baseline and after 3 months of AA/sham AA treatment. Secondary outcomes include hormonal profile, weight, waist/hip circumference, body mass index, blood pressure, Ferriman-Gallwey score, acne and the assessment of health-related quality of life. Outcome measures are collected at baseline and the end of treatment visit. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: The protocol has been approved by the ethics committee of the First Affiliated Hospital of Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine (HZYLLKY201800301). Written informed consent will be obtained from all participants. The results will be disseminated through peer-reviewed journals for publications. TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER: NCT03546595; Pre-results.
