RESUMO

Distance measure is one of the research hotspot in Pythagorean fuzzy environment due to its quantitative ability of distinguishing Pythagorean fuzzy sets (PFSs). Various distance functions for PFSs are introduced in the literature and have their own pros and cons. The common thread of incompetency for these existing distance functions is their inability to distinguish highly uncertain PFSs distinctly. To tackle this point, we introduce a novel distance measure for PFSs. An added advantage of the measure is its simple mathematical form. Moreover, superiority and reasonability of the prescribed definition are demonstrated through proper numerical examples. Boundedness and nonlinear behaviour of the distance measure is established and verified via suitable illustrations. In the current scenario, selecting an antivirus face-mask as a preventive measure in the COVID-19 pandemic and choosing the best school in private sector for children are some of the burning issues of a modern society. These issues are addressed here as multi-attribute decision-making problems and feasible solutions are obtained using the introduced definition. Applicability of the distance measure is further extended in the areas of pattern recognition and medical diagnosis.

RESUMO

The instability of organic-inorganic hybrid halide perovskites due to light, heat, and moisture restricts them for practical use despite having most suitable photovoltaic properties and higher power conversion efficiency. Several methods such as surface engineering, carbon electrode utilization, and optimization of the components are applied to increase the stability; still, it is far from the practical implementation. Moreover, the toxicity of Pb in most of the efficient hybrid halide perovskites is another major issue. It motivates us to search for a stable and Pb free perovskite solar cell. Hence, a systematic investigation within density functional theory has been made on the structural, electronic, and optical properties of RbMI3compounds (whereM= Ge and Sn). The structural properties such as lattice parameters, formation energy are calculated. The calculated negative formation energy confirms the chemical stability for both compounds. The electronic properties like partial density of states, band structures with Perdew-Burke-Ernzerhof, Tran-Blaha modified Becke-Johnson (TB-mBJ) and HSE06 are discussed. Band gaps are calculated for RbGeI3(2.645 eV) and RbSnI3(2.544 eV) with TB-mBJ potential, which is proved to estimate the band gap values accurately for inorganic solids. SOC influences the conduction band minimum without any changes in the valence band maximum and thus reduces band gaps to 2.021 for RbGeI3and 1.865 eV for RbSnI3. The optical properties like the real and imaginary part of the dielectric constants, absorption coefficients, refractive indices, and reflectivities have also been discussed. Further, transport properties like effective masses, binding energy of excitons, and spectroscopic limited maximum efficiency (SLME) are calculated for both RbMI3compounds. The excitons for both structures are found to be Frenkel type. SLME for RbGeI3and RbSnI3having the thickness of 0.5 µm at a temperature of 300 K are found as 16.5% and 18%, respectively. Finally, the possibility of RbGeI3and RbSnI3in the solar cell configuration with TiO2as the hole transporting material have been explored.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Genus Swertia is valued for its great medicinal potential, mainly Swertia chirayita (Roxb. ex Fleming) H. Karst. is used in traditional medicine for a wide range of diseases. Mangiferin one of xanthoids is referred with enormous pharmacological potentials. OBJECTIVE: The aim of the study was to quantify and compare the anticancerous and antidiabetic drug mangiferin from 11 Swertia species from India. The study also evaluates hierarchical relationships between the species based on mangiferin content using multivariate analysis. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The reverse phase-ultra flow liquid chromatography-diode array detector analyses was performed and chromatographic separation was achieved on a Lichrospher 100, C18e (5 µm) column (250-4.6 mm). Mobile phase consisting of 0.2% triethylamine (pH-4 with O-phosphoric acid) and acetonitrile (85:15) was used for separation with injection volume 20 µL and detection wave length at 257 nm. RESULTS: Results indicated that concentration of mangiferin has been found to vary largely between Swertia species collected from different regions. Content of mangiferin was found to be highest in Swertia minor compared to other Swertia species studied herein from the Western Ghats and Himalayan region also. The same was also evident in the multivariate analysis, wherein S. chirayita, S. minor and Swertia paniculata made a separate clade. CONCLUSION: Conclusively, the work herein provides insights of mangiferin content from 11 Swertia species of India and also presents their hierarchical relationships. To best of the knowledge this is the first report of higher content of mangiferin from any Swertia species. SUMMARY: The present study quantifies and compares mangiferin in 11 species of Swertia from India. The study also evaluates hierarchical relationships between the species based on mangiferin content using multivariate analysis. The mangiferin content was highest in S. minor compared to the studied Swertia species. To the best of our knowledge this is the first report of higher content of mangiferin from Swertia species.
