RESUMO

Increasing the light extraction efficiency has been widely studied for highly efficient organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). Among many light-extraction approaches proposed so far, adding a corrugation layer has been considered a promising solution for its simplicity and high effectiveness. While the working principle of periodically corrugated OLEDs can be qualitatively explained by the diffraction theory, dipolar emission inside the OLED structure makes its quantitative analysis challenging, making one rely on finite-element electromagnetic simulations that could require huge computing resources. Here, we demonstrate a new simulation method, named the diffraction matrix method (DMM), that can accurately predict the optical characteristics of periodically corrugated OLEDs while achieving calculation speed that is a few orders of magnitude faster. Our method decomposes the light emitted by a dipolar emitter into plane waves with different wavevectors and tracks the diffraction behavior of waves using diffraction matrices. Calculated optical parameters show a quantitative agreement with those predicted by finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. Furthermore, the developed method possesses a unique advantage over the conventional approaches that it naturally evaluates the wavevector-dependent power dissipation of a dipole and is thus capable of identifying the loss channels inside OLEDs in a quantitative manner.

How can sport community involvement influence life satisfaction during a pandemic? Self-expansion theory posits that individuals seek to gain resources such as positive interpersonal relationships for growth and achievement. By considering psychological capital (PsyCap) as a dispositional resource intervening between sport community involvement and life satisfaction, we examined an empirical model to test the chain of effects. Based on the stress process model, distress and generational group (Generation Z vs. others) were tested as moderators. Participants (N = 233) responded to the scale item questionnaire for model assessment. Supporting the hypothesized relationships, the model was supported with a significant moderated-moderated mediation. The mediation effect of PsyCap was stronger when distress level was lower and such interaction effect was amplified for Generation Z (Gen Z). Whereas the global sport communities and Gen Z were found to be more particularly vulnerable to COVID-19, our findings suggest that there are psychological pathways for fans to maintain their resilience. It is foremost imperative to lower the stress level of sport fans for their community involvement to positively affect life satisfaction. Gen Z were more stressed during the pandemic but individuals who managed to cope with stress were able to leverage community involvement to boost positive psychological resources. Acknowledgment of these effects brings implications for better management strategies and provides avenues for new research.

Active metasurfaces have been proposed as one attractive means of achieving high-resolution spatiotemporal control of optical wavefronts, having applications such as LIDAR and dynamic holography. However, achieving full, dynamic phase control has been elusive in metasurfaces. In this paper, we unveil an electrically tunable metasurface design strategy that operates near the avoided crossing of two resonances, one a spectrally narrow, over-coupled resonance and the other with a high resonance frequency tunability. This strategy displays an unprecedented upper limit of 4π range of dynamic phase modulation with no significant variations in optical amplitude, by enhancing the phase tunability through utilizing two coupled resonances. A proof-of-concept metasurface is justified analytically and verified numerically in an experimentally accessible platform using quasi-bound states in the continuum and graphene plasmon resonances, with results showing a 3π phase modulation capacity with a uniform reflection amplitude of ~0.65.

How can corporate social responsibility initiatives influence brand love? Based on the theory of social identity complexity, we examined whether greater complexity of a sport fan's multiple identifications with sport leagues led to higher multicultural tolerance and more positive perceptions of leagues' corporate social responsibility activities. Further, brand authenticity was tested as a variable intervening between perceived corporate social responsibility and brand love. We analyzed this serial mediation effect impacting sport fans' brand love for their multiple, favored and less favored, sport leagues. Participants (N = 242 Amazon Mechanical Turk workers) answered the scale item questionnaire for model assessment. The hypothesized model was supported as the indirect effect through all mediators was significant (43.42% of total indirect effects). Our results suggest that when sport fans acknowledge a high overlap among league fan groups (low social identity complexity), their tolerance is more likely to be higher than those who have a low overlap. Such high levels of tolerance influence how fans perceive corporate social responsibility initiatives, and these effects build up for fans to perceive the brand to be more authentic (i.e., based on their continuity, credibility, integrity, and symbolism). These antecedents affected brand love through a serial mediation. Sport league managers should consider the diverse aspects across leagues (i.e., different fan characteristics, media operations, game schedules) for harmonious coexistence with other leagues (e.g., by collaborating on promotions and reducing overlap of schedules) and maintain brand authenticity for their social initiatives to result in a greater brand love in the consumer's mind.

RESUMO

The use of arthroscopic Bankart repair to treat anterior shoulder instability has become increasingly widespread. However, high rates of recurrent instability within the presence of glenohumeral bony defects, specifically Hill-Sachs lesions, have well documented a key concern regarding the arthroscopic Bankart repair process. Our technique describes the pairing of a remplissage to fill the Hill-Sachs lesion with the Bankart repair, preventing loss in shoulder stiffness and stability. This technique involves a double-pulley-combined remplissage and Bankart repair to maintain a low-failure, minimally invasive procedure.

RESUMO

Revision anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (R-ACLR) has become more common as the number of failed primary ACLRs increase. Although increasingly common, R-ACLR has a greater failure rate than a primary reconstruction. Technical errors, particularly in tunnel placement, account for a large proportion of graft failure in R-ACLR as well as re-revision cases. Tunnel placement and trajectory is particularly important in R-ACLR and becomes more challenging with each additional revision attempt. This is in part because any tunnels created for revision may converge with formerly drilled tunnels or face interference hardware creating, complicating proper graft fixation. While there are many approaches to revision ACL surgery, our technique describes a simple, tibial tunnel-first graft-sizing method initially reaming tunnels with very small diameters and sequentially working your way up to more anatomic diameters.

RESUMO

Posterior shoulder instability occurs when the labrum detaches posteriorly from the glenoid owing to significant trauma and is a relatively uncommon type of shoulder dislocation. Although posterior instability has often been treated with open shoulder stabilization, modern arthroscopic procedures are being rapidly pursued by surgeons as an improved option because of decreased invasiveness and reduced operative times. Arthroscopic stabilization of the posterior glenoid labrum typically involves 2 working portals, but the procedure still yields successful results when performed with a single posterior portal and a suture passer. Our technique involves 1 less portal to reduce invasiveness, lower the risk of nerve damage, and decrease the operative time and postoperative pain. The purpose of this article is to describe an arthroscopic posterior stabilization technique with a single working portal.
