[Prospects for using chemiluminescence technique for the solution of certain topical problems of forensic medicine].

Chemiluminescent techniques are employed in forensic medicine for the elucidation of such important problems as prescription of death coming, prescription and life-timeliness of a mechanical injury. Oxidation of free radicals is known to play an important role in pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases. The present study demonstrates the necessity of investigation of chemiluminescent properties of the blood and tissue homogenates during the postmortem period for differential diagnosis of the causes of sudden death.

[Study of ethno-racial and sexual specificity of hard palate mucosa for person identification].

Relief of hard palatal mucosa was examined to identify ethno-racial and gender affiliation in representatives of europeoid, mongolid, and intermediate racial groups, viz Estonians (northern europeoid type), Azerbajaninans (southern europeoid), Koreans (Far East mongoloid), and Kasakhs (intermediate). The results of the study suggest the possibility in principle to identify the ethno-racial affiliation of human subjects from the distribution pattern of hard palate mucosal folds.

[Concerning the criteria of expert assessment of unfavorable outcomes in implantological stomatology].

The state of complex forensic-medical expertise in implantological stomatology was analyzed in the article. The questions of assessment of medical aid quality with the use of score system of risk degree and factors determination are considered. The authors suggest to use the score system of unfavorable outcomes with the purpose of objectification of expert conclusions.

[Forensic stomatology as independent division of forensic medicine].

A modern condition of identification with use of stomatological state is set out in details. Dissertations of research assistants and competitors of the department of forensic medicine were analyzed in connect with the problem of identification using anatomy, morphological and morphometrical peculiarities of tooth, dental arches, dental plates, oral cavity organs and others. A possibility of identification of sex, age, ethno-racial affiliation using peculiarities of structure of dental-jaw system was presented. A question connected with coverage of this problem in pages of "Forensic examination".

[Comparative characteristics of angulometric parameters of teeth and dentitions in terms of personal identification].

Angulometric teleroentgenographic characteristics of teeth were compared for 158 subjects. A computer technology of calculation and assessment of 47 angular (quantitative) parameters characterizing spatial position of the teeth and jaws is proposed. This complex of parameters can be used as an additional test in personal identification.

[Defects in conducting case histories in urgent abdominal surgery and their importance].

Information available in case histories is of great importance, e.g. for court examinations on "medical suits". So, we have investigated 472 case histories for the period from 2000 through 2004. It was found that the number of errors and short-comings in case histories still remains rather great. High professional and juridical competence is thought to be the way to avoid the patient's complains and improve effectiveness of treatment.

[Personal identification by complex study of characteristics of the teeth and dentition structures].

A multimodality dental examination was made and anatomomorphological features of teeth and tooth sequences were studied in 200 policemen using clinical examination, morphological investigation of plaster jaw models, analysis of x-rays and statistics, intraoral videocamera pictures, computer processing. The scheme of creation of dental data bank applicable in personal identification is offered.

[ELISA-based determination of opiates in purulent transformation of cadaveric material].

Abuse of drugs has been a topical issue up to the present-day. Opiates like morphine and heroin are still prevalent. The routine methods of determination of drugs in blood made within the forensic medical expertise are time-consuming and samples must be specially prepared for them. ELISA, when used for the determination of opiates in blood and urine, significantly cuts the test time. According to our research results, the diagnosis of opiates by ELISA is advisable at the preliminary stage of the forensic expertise of cadaver; the method is informative, which is of extra importance in cases of purulent transformation of cadaveric material.

[Responsibility of ENT specialists in rendering medical care in present-day social-economic conditions].

The article contains basic legal and standard acts on regulating law in health service, rights and responsibilities of patients and doctors. Knowledge of the regulation raises responsibility of otorhinolaryngologists in rendering medical care and must improve quality of ENT service.

[Expert evaluation of medical care quality in otorhinolaryngology]. / Ekspertnaia otsenka defektov okazaniia meditsinskoi pomoshchi v otorinolaringologii.

Defects related with rendering medical care (DMC) in the managerial and information-deontological spheres of healthcare are evaluated. Reasons of the above defects and the related peculiarities are elucidated; the necessity in eliminating them is substantiated. The authors put forward their own definition of DMC on the basis of an independent analysis.
