RESUMO
In this study, an improved, rapid, high yield synthesis of N,N'-4,4'-bis(benzyl-2-boronic acid)-bipyridinium dibromide (o-BBV) is described. The obtained o-BVV is applied in a two-component saccharide sensing system (complex) where it serves as a fluorescence quencher and a saccharide receptor. This system was applied to different natural oligosaccharides isolated from molluscan Rapana venosa (RvH1-a) and arthropodan Carcinus aestuarii (CaeH) hemocyanins (Hcs) and cyclodextrins (CDs). The carbohydrate contents of both Hcs were calculated in our previous work to be 1,6 % and 7 % for CaeH and RvH1-a, respectively. We propose that the difference in fluorescence increase of the native CaeH and RvH1-a when titrating them with the complex is due to the fact that the carbohydrate content of CaeH is lower and the carbohydrate chains are buried in between the structural subunits of the native molecule, while the glycans of the functional unit RvH1-a are exposed on the surface of the molecule leading to a 4-fold fluorescence's intensity change.

The luminescence of thenoyltrifluoroacetonate (TTA) coordination complexes of trivalent europium ion (Eu(III)) in aqueous solutions and in solid-state polymeric films is probed upon single- and two-photon preresonant excitation with Ti:sapphire femtosecond laser. Particularly, diamine-liganded Eu(III)(TTA)(3) and poly(oxyethylene phosphate)tris(beta-diketonate)Eu(III) complexes are examined aiming their possible applications as luminescent labels for sensing and imaging of biological molecules. Even at a pre-resonance, the excitation of these compounds with high-intensity, broadband light of frequency-doubled Ti:sapphire femtosecond laser centered around 400 nm results in a luminescence response suitable for fluorometric applications.

Structure, magnetic and optical properties of tetraphenylborate salts of 2,5-[1-methyl-4-[2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethenyl]piridinium]-propane and butane are performed in gas and condense phase by means of solution and solid-state conventional and linear-polarized IR-spectroscopy of oriented colloids in nematic liquid crystal suspension, UV-vis and fluorescence methods, HPLC tandem ESI mess spectrometry (MS/MS), (1)H, (13)C and (1)H-(1)H COSY NMR, TGV and DSC methods. Quantum chemical DFT calculations are used for performing of the structures, optical and nonlinear optical properties of the studied compounds.

Quantum chemical DFT calculations are performed for structural optimization and spectroscopic properties prediction.

Counterions affect on the substructures formation in the case of the merocyanine dye, 1-methyl-4-[2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethenyl)]piridinium] hydrogensquarate both in gas and condense phase. Spectroscopically and structural elucidation of these aggregates have been performed, using solid-state conventional and linear-polarized IR-spectroscopy of oriented colloids as a nematic liquid crystal suspension, UV-vis spectroscopy, HPLC tandem ESI mass spectrometry, 1H and 13C NMR, TGV and DSC. Quantum chemical DFT calculations have been carried out as well. Experimental and theoretical data are compared with analogous ones of corresponding iodide salt of dye studied.
