RESUMO

The objective of the present work was to highlight and systematize the current scientific concepts of the role of psychological factors in the psycho-social adaptation of the patients presenting the Meniere's disease. The authors analysed the data concerning the psycho-social adaptation of the patients presenting with this condition that were published in the scientific literature during many years. The detailed analysis of the psychological characteristics of the patients allowed to reveal peculiarities of their psychological response to the disease and conserved personal-environmental resources that can be used in the development of stress-adaptation models for the psychological correction and psychotherapeutic treatment with a view to their subsequent introduction into the routine clinical practice of healthcare service institutions.

RESUMO

A detailed analysis of the findings of registration of short-latent evoked acoustic potentials (SLEP) in neonates with symptoms of ante- and postnatal affection of the central nervous system (CNS) and in healthy children has shown that some SLEP parameters (latent periods, interpeak intervals) in neonates with impaired CNS and healthy infants differ.

RESUMO

A trial of a novel pathogenetic method to prevent recurrent scarring in surgical treatment of patients with adhesive otitis media was made. The test group consisted of 36 patients with adhesive otitis media in whom surgical treatment was combined with application of mithomycin C (0.2 mg/ml) to the wound area. 27 patients of the control group received conventional treatment. The efficacy of the surgical treatment was assessed by reduction of the osteopneumatic interval. The results show that postoperative hearing was more stable in the test group.

RESUMO

A novel method of treatment of otitis media purulenta chronica in children implies administration of donor (from the parents or donor with the same blood group) plasm possessing a complete set of humoral and cellular immunity components. As a monotherapy, plasm treatment proved highly effective both before surgery and after it.

RESUMO

Characteristics of chronic ENT diseases in European migrants and native Mongoloid population of the East Siberian North have been analysed epidemiologically. Epidemiological differences and similarities between the above populations are explained by their immunogenetic peculiarities.

RESUMO

The article presents classification of mixed forms of hypoacusis based on certain combination of audiological criteria reflecting the impact of a hypoacusis neurosensory component. A differential approach to rehabilitation of patients with mixed hypoacusis caused by chronic pathological processes in the middle ear is proposed. The approach allows for severity of neurosensory hearing disorders.

RESUMO

Hearing disorders are characterized for citizens of the East Siberia belonging to Europeoid or Mongoloid race. Interpopulation features of hypoacusis of various genesis and effects of natural-geographic and ethnic factors on hypoacusis manifestations in native Mongoloid and migrant Europeoid Siberian population are shown.

RESUMO

Thirty six patients with oropharyngeal leptotrichosis were examined and treated. Antistaphylococcal bacteriophage solution was used for their treatment. Tonsillar lacunae were washed with bacteriophage 2-3 times a week, the course of treatment included 6-8 washings. Thirty four patients showed clinical recovery shown as full clearance of the affected sites and elimination of subjective manifestations of leptotrichosis.

RESUMO

The paper analyzes the outcomes of treatment of 326 patients with acute and chronic exudative sinusitis by using low-frequency vibratory massage--vibrotherapy that has antiinflammatory, antiedematous, and antiallergic effects, promotes normalization of body defenses and may be used as monotherapy. The therapy is shown to have a marked therapeutical effect and advantages over conventional treatments. The method is physiological, reduces the number of punctures in maxillary sinusitis, leaves the skin and mucosa intact, and decreases the use of drugs.

RESUMO

Augmentin (SmithKline Beecham) was used in the treatment of 24 patients after operations on the otorhinolaryngologic organs. The drug was administered orally, intravenously or applied locally. After a radical operation on the maxillary sinus the use of augmentin resulted in a marked decrease of the wound secretion and soft tissue edema on the 6th-7th days. After tonsillectomy cleaning of the tonsil niche from the fibrin patches and the epithelialization started on the 4th-5th days. After operations on the temporal bone cleaning of the postoperative cavity and beginning of the epithelialization were observed on the 9th-10th days. On the whole, the use of augmentin accelerated the cure which was recorded 3-4 days earlier.

RESUMO

The hearing function in 32 patients with various forms of disseminated sclerosis was measured. Their hearing sensitivity, loudness and discrimination as well as spatial hearing and ability to localize sound sources were determined. In the absence of changes in hearing sensitivity, loudness and discrimination all the patients displayed marked disorders or complete loss of their capability to localize sound sources in the vertical plane but retained their capability to localize sound sources in the horizontal plane. Therefore, in contrast to the widely recognized concept that the hearing function in patients with disseminated sclerosis remains intact, spatial hearing impairment should be viewed as a pathognomonic symptom which is very important for diagnosing it at all stages of its development, including the earliest stages.
