A cross-sectional study was carried out in ten urology departments over a two-week period. Three categories of data were collected concerning socio-economic status and epidemiological profiles and management of the patients. The results are presented with comparative analysis of performance of the clinics, and the epidemiological data are analysed with reference to the inpatient case mix.

In an open randomised comparative study, the efficacy of perioperative treatment with pivmecillinam (from the evening before the operation to the day after removal of the catheter) in urinary tract endoscopic surgery complicated by a serious uronephrological history was evaluated in 27 subjects versus a control group of 25 subjects. 80% of patients in this group had an uncomplicated postoperative course compared with only 40% of the subjects in the control group (p less than 0.010). The authors conclude on the value of this type of prophylaxis.

[Modification of the infectious state following surgical treatment of primary vesicorenal reflux in adults. Apropos of a series of 17 patients]. / Modification de l'état infectieux aprés traitement chirurgical du reflux vésico-rénal primitif de l'adulte. A propos d'une série de dix-sept patientes.

Seventeen adult female patients with primary vesico-renal reflux were treated surgically (6 nephrectomies, 5 reimplantations and 3 ureteropelvic anastomoses). The risk of severe upper tract infection was eliminated in all seventeen cases, but lower urinary tract infection persisted in two cases.
