RESUMO

The ultrasonic location technique was used to measure intima-media thickness (IMT), as well as internal systolic diameter of and linear blood velocity in the cervical arteries in people with initial hypertension. Correlation analysis elicited a temporal contingency between these parameters and daily average values of atmospheric pressure. Thus, common carotid artery IMT tended to increase on high-pressure days. Besides, diameters of the common and internal carotid arteries, and vertebral artery were narrowed and, consequently, linear blood velocity in these vessels increased. This relationship is more evident in men than women and in elderly subjects than young. These results are suggestive of a vasoconstrictive action of high atmospheric pressure on these arteries. The relationship is not universal, as it is nonlinear for diameter of the internal carotid artery and inverse for the external one. This implies different sensitivity of arteries to the factor under study and possible blood redistribution in the arterial basin depending on external pressure. The relationship was observed equally on the day of investigation and previous days, which points to its temporal stability.

RESUMO

Interphase prenucleolar bodies are globular structures which accumulate in large numbers in the nucleoplasm of cultivated cells after hypotonic treatment and subsequent return to isotonic conditions; detailed studies of the role of these structures in the recovery of the nucleolus have not yet been performed. The limited mobility of interphase pronucleoli within the nucleus has been demonstrated. Exchange of the major nucleolar protein B23 between prenucleolar bodies and the surrounding nucleoplasm, rather than stable binding of this protein to the prenucleolar bodies, has been demonstrated using fluorescence recovery after photobleaching method. Gradual accumulation of B23 in the recovering nucleolus with concomitant disappearance of prenucleolar bodies has been demonstrated.

RESUMO

The work was designed to study daily arterial pressure (AP) profile in 103 patients aged 20-70 (48.6 +/- 12.) years with grade I-II arterial hypertension and its relation to selected metabolic parameters, heliogeophysical factors and age. The patients underwent 24-hr AP monitoring, calculation of body mass index, measurement of blood glucose and cholesterol levels. Non-dippers showed higher mean nocturnal AP values than dippers probably due to higher BMI, glucose and cholesterol levels. These patients were more sensitive to heliophysical factors. Patients above 60 years displayed higher AP values in morning hours compared with 21-40 year-old ones. These data can be used in the development of primary and secondary prophylaxis of arterial hypertension.

RESUMO

Circadian blood pressure profile (CBPP) is considered to be a functional characteristic of the cardiovascular system, which reflects the severity and pathogenetic peculiarities of arterial hypertension. At the same time, blood pressure dynamics also depends on the state of environmental factors, the heliogeophysical medium in particular, which plays an important part in the formation of northern ecology. The purpose of the study was to evaluate the peculiarities of the correlations between morphofunctional characteristics of the cardiovascular system, circadian blood pressure rhythms in particular, and heliogeophysical environmental factors under North conditions. The data of 24-hour blood pressure monitoring (BPM) and echoCG, and the heliogeophysical factors during different ontogenesis periods in 257 residents of North and medium latitudes with arterial hypertension (AH), were analyzed. A considerable disorder of CBPP, manifesting by an insufficient (less than 10%) night-time decrease in blood pressure, was revealed in 46% of the hypertensive subjects, who lived in North. The circadian rhythm amplitude was low in cases of a high degree of coupling of hemodynamic indices with geomagnetic activity during the study. The study did not reveal such CBPP disturbances in AH patients living in medium latitudes. Left ventricular hypertrophy was more frequent in patients with an insufficient night-time BP decrease vs. patients with a normal one (39.7% and 22.2%, respectively). A test allowing evaluation of the hemodynamic mechanisms of magnetotropic responses to changes in heliogeophysical environment, was developed. This diagnostic test uses EchoCG and testing exposure to constant magnetic field, and is based on evaluation of changes in central hemodynamics allowing for the balance of geomagnetic activity during early ontogenesis and during the study.
