RESUMO

Pleural cavity exudates obtained from 26 patients with cancer of the lung, ovary, stomach and breast and 13 cases of nononcological pathologies were studied using enzymatic cytochemical methods and monoclonal antibodies. A complex of tissue markers (carcinoembryonic antigen, 90 kdalton glycoproteid, activity of alkaline phosphatase and nonspecific alpha-naphthylacetate esterase, and PAS-positive bodies) was identified. It allows to differentiate between malignant and mesothelial cells in smears prepared from exudates.

RESUMO

The literature data and the results of the authors' own investigations on the enzymatocytochemical signs, surface membrane receptors and antigens of Hodgkin's and Reed-Sternberg cells have been presented. Possible genesis of giant multinuclear cells from activated T- or B-lymphocytes, histiocytes,+-macrophages or interdigitirring reticular cells in lymphogranulomatosis have been discussed.

RESUMO

ICO, IPO, LT monoclonal antibodies and lectins were used to study blood cells in 18 children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). The immunological phenotype has been characterized, and two cytological variants of ALL of T-cell nature, and four variants of ALL of B-cell origin have been distinguished, differing by the degree of blast cell maturity.

RESUMO

The level of activity in natural killer cells (mononuclears) of peripheral blood relative to 51C-labelled K-562 cells is found to be significantly lower in patients with germinative testicle tumours than in donors. At the same time neither mononuclears of the peripheral blood nor those isolated from the tumour tissue practically lyse tumour tissue cells. The higher activity of natural killer cells relative to K-562 cells corresponds to the higher immunocellular infiltration of the tissue from nonseminomatous tumours.

RESUMO

The study of surface membrane receptors by the methods of combined patch-formation and cytochemical markers of blast cells has revealed 57 cases of childhood ALL which were classified as non-T, non-B cell, pre-T, T- and B-cell forms. Using the panel of monoclonal antibodies (IKO-1, 02, 10, 11 and I10P-1-8) the surface differentiation antigens have been studied in certain patients. Significance of cytochemical studies for definition of main forms of acute leukemias and immunocytology for differentiation of some types of ALL was suggested.

RESUMO

Cytochemical methods were used to study the activity of acid and alkaline phosphatases, neutral and acid nonspecific esterases, and peroxidase in the clones of stromal human marrow stromal fibroblasts at the 10th-12th day of cultivation with rabbit feeder. All the cells in the clones contained acid phosphatase. All the colonies had 5 to 90% of cells with positive response to alkaline phosphatase. The colony cells did not show any neutral and acid nonspecific esterases or peroxidase.
