Objective: This review evaluated the outcomes of rhombic versus inverted triangle configuration fixation of femoral neck fractures. Methods: Six databases, PubMed, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science, Cochrane Library databases, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), were comprehensibly searched for the comparative studies of two configurations (rhombic versus inverted triangle) of neck femur fracture fixation. Ultimately seven studies were included in this systematic review for qualitative and quantitative analysis. A meta-analysis was performed with the software RevMan 5.4.1. Results: Fewer nonunion (OR 0.46 with 95 % CI 0.23, 0.94; p = 0.03), and early full weight bearing (MD -3.09 with 95 % CI -5.41, -0.77; p = 0.009) were seen in the rhombic than in the inverted configuration; however, a better hip function (MD 3.72 with 95 % CI 0.99, 6.44; p = 0.008), and lesser less blood loss (MD 3.84 with 95 % CI 1.19, 6.49; p = 0.004) during surgery were found in the inverted triangle configuration. There was no difference between the two fixation configurations regarding the duration of surgery, fracture union time, overall complications, femoral neck shortening, length of hospital stay, fluoroscopy times, and incision size. Conclusion: The rhomboid configuration showed fewer non-union, early weight bearing, better hip function and comparable complications rate than the inverted triangle configuration; however, there was more blood loss intraoperatively than inverted triangle configuration. Hence, the addition of a fourth screw in the rhombic configuration have an added advantage over the inverted triangle configuration in femoral neck fracture.

Introduction: Neglected bilateral clubfoot clubhand deformity is a mesomelic type of dysplasia that is characterized by disproportionate shortness of the middle segment of all limbs and is a form of short-limb dwarfism. Affected individuals are clinically of normal stature with particularly short mesomelic segments with nearly symmetric limb abnormalities. Case Report: The patient was a 20-year-old male Indian who came to outpatient department for cosmetic purpose. Upper limb abnormalities include short forearm, and elbow joints which are broad and deformed with limited flexion-extension range of motion and decreased pronosupination of the forearms. The hands are normal in appearance. The foot is also affected and deformed. The fibulae are malformed and long in relation to the tibiae. Both bones, tibia, and fibula are dysplastic. The atypical foot deformity seen in this patient is characterized by a severe equinovarus component. He is able to do his activities of daily living and can do activities such as gripping, holding a pen/cup, opening a door, and writing on paper comfortably. He is able to walk normally without any support. This patient has normal stature, normal systemic examination, and normal chromosomes. Conclusion: The neglected bilateral clubfoot clubhand deformity a type of mesomelic dysplasia was the most likely diagnosis in our patient. Disorders involving Nievergelt syndrome and mesomelic dwarfism were considered but none were likely possibilities. Our patient had the malformed fibulae and tibiae, and the severe equinovarus deformity of the feet. There were triangular shaped ulnae which were deficient distally, and the radii were bowed. Unlike Nievergelt syndrome, our patient did not have a severe deformity of hands and fingers. He is functionally sound and able to do his activities of daily living and can do activities such as gripping, holding a pen/cup, opening a door, and writing on paper comfortably. He is able to walk normally without any support. These features have not been previously described in literature leading to our diagnosis of neglected bilateral clubfoot clubhand deformity.

Introduction: Pan-labral tears, commonly associated with recurrent shoulder dislocations, are a well-documented pathology. However, circumferential pan-labral tears following a first-time shoulder dislocation represent a rare and scarcely reported entity in the literature. Accurate diagnosis requires a comprehensive clinical history, physical examination, and further evaluation, often involving MRI. Even with advanced imaging, the acute nature of the injury can lead to the oversight of pan-labral tears, necessitating arthroscopic assessment for definitive diagnosis. Repairing such extensive glenoid labral tears presents a challenging task, requiring skilled surgeons to utilize accessory portals and percutaneous techniques for optimal visualization and anchor placement trajectory. To the best of our knowledge, this case report represents the first documentation of a pan-labral tear associated with a 1st-time shoulder dislocation. Case Report: A 27-year-old Asian male presented with pain and limited range of motion in the left shoulder following a single episode of anterior shoulder dislocation during cricket. Initial X-rays were unremarkable, but subsequent MRI revealed an anteroinferior labral tear with intact rotator cuffs. Arthroscopic evaluation disclosed a pan-labral tear, prompting meticulous repair under general and locoregional anesthesia. The patient achieved full recovery postoperatively. Conclusion: While pan-labral tears are typically linked to recurrent dislocations, this case underscores their occurrence in a 1st-time traumatic shoulder dislocation without overt clinical signs or fractures. Arthroscopic repair demands careful intraoperative planning to achieve optimal tensioning and alignment of labral and capsular tissues. This report contributes to the limited literature on pan-labral tears associated with initial shoulder dislocations, emphasizing the importance of arthroscopic evaluation for accurate diagnosis and successful repair.

INTRODUCTION: Unstable thoracolumbar burst fractures are routinely encountered in orthopedic practice. Recently, short-segment fixation with pedicle screw augmentation of the fractured vertebra for unstable thoracolumbar burst fractures has gained popularity. Nonetheless, the maintenance of the kyphotic correction during the follow-up period remains controversial. This study aimed to examine the clinical-radiological outcomes, complications, and functional outcomes of fractured vertebrae augmentation with intermediate pedicle screws in short-segment instrumentation in acute thoracolumbar spine fractures. METHODS: This retrospective study was conducted in the Department of Orthopedics, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Jodhpur, using medical records from January 2021 to October 2022. Parameters such as local kyphosis correction, loss of kyphotic correction at final follow-up, anterior body height correction (%), and loss of correction (%) at final follow-up were measured as primary outcomes. Various other parameters such as operative time, blood loss, length of hospital stay, and visual analog scale were measured as secondary outcomes. RESULTS: The mean correction obtained via surgery in the immediate postoperative period was 13.7±2.3 degrees. The mean loss of correction at the final follow-up was 4.1±2.0 degrees, and the mean final local kyphotic angle was 7.2±2.4 degrees (P<0.05). The mean correction obtained via surgery in the immediate postoperative period was 37.2%±9.0%. The mean loss of correction at the final follow-up was 10.5%±5.3%, and the mean final anterior vertebral body height maintained was 72%±11.0% (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: Short-segment posterior fixation with pedicle screw augmentation achieves good correction of local kyphotic angle and anterior vertebral height in the immediate postoperative period, but some loss of correction at final follow-up is common. In our study, the loss of correction corresponded directly to the load-sharing score.

INTRODUCTION: Pelvic ring fractures, particularly those involving the posterior pelvis, pose significant challenges due to their inherent instability. The posterior pelvic ring is critical in providing structural support and stability to the pelvis. This study evaluates the functional outcomes and health-related Quality of life (HRQOL) of patients who underwent internal fixation for unstable pelvic fractures. Various factors influencing the outcomes are also investigated. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A single-center cross-sectional study was conducted on patients with unstable sacral fractures treated with posterior tension band plate or sacroiliac plating with or without symphyseal plating between 2016 and 2020. Patient demographics, injury mechanisms, associated injuries, surgical details, complications, and return-to-work data were collected. HRQOL was assessed using specific pelvic fracture instruments and general HRQOL questionnaires. Logistic regression analysis was performed to identify factors associated with lower SF-12 and SF-36 scores RESULTS: The study included 54 patients, predominantly males (55.6%), aged 18-70 years, with high-energy trauma mechanisms, such as road traffic accidents and occupational injuries. The majority of patients had lateral compression pelvic fractures. Overall, the functional outcomes were favorable, with excellent or good outcomes observed in 86.1% of cases. Patients with associated injuries, such as abdominal, chest, or head injuries, were likelier to have lower SF-12 physical component scores. Sexual satisfaction scores remained stable for most patients post-surgery. DISCUSSION: This study highlights the favorable functional outcomes and HRQOL for patients undergoing fixation for unstable pelvic ring fractures. Younger, working-age males were the most commonly affected demographic. Associated injuries significantly affected physical HRQOL scores. Despite high-energy trauma, patients generally reported satisfactory sexual function post-surgery.

BACKGROUND: The pararectus approach is a minimally invasive surgical approach for anterior acetabulum fracture, with an advantage of the medial window of the modified Stoppa approach (MSA). However, it is unclear whether the pararectus approach is superior to MSA. We aimed this systematic review and meta-analysis to compare the outcomes and complications of pararectus and MSA. METHODS: We performed a data search by conducting an electronic search across databases of PubMed, Embase, Scopus, Cinahl, CNKI, and Cochrane Library and included seven comparative studies for analysis. Statistical analysis was performed using the RevMan software 5.4.1. The risk of bias was evaluated using the Cochrane Collaboration's risk of bias tool for RCTs and the MINORS tool for non-RCTs. RESULTS: Two randomized control trials (RCTs), one prospective study, and four retrospective studies were included. Meta-analysis revealed a better Matta's reduction quality [OR 1.58, 95% CI 1.06, 2.37; p = 0.03] and radiological outcome [OR 2.18, 95% CI 1.03, 4.60; p = 0.04] in MSA than in pararectus approach. However, the pararectus approach has less intraoperative blood loss [MD - 9.79 (95% CI - 176.75, - 6.83; p = 0.03)] and a shorter hospital stay [MD - 2.61 (95% CI - 5.03, - .18; p = 0.04)] than MSA. Both approaches have failed to show a difference concerning overall complication rates [OR 0.66 (95% CI 0.28, 1.55; p = 0.34)], postoperative infection, DVT, duration of surgery [MD - 15.09 (95% CI - 35.38, 5.20; p = 0.15)], functional outcome, and incision length. CONCLUSION: The pararectus approach offers an advantage with lesser operative blood loss and shorter hospital stay, whilst MSA stands out with better reduction quality and radiological outcomes. Nevertheless, both approaches exhibit no difference in complication rates, duration of surgery, incision length, and functional outcome. Hence, the pararectus approach can be considered an alternative to MSA; however, the existing literature fails to demonstrate a distinct advantage over MSA.

RESUMO

Giant cell tumour (GCT) accounts for 5% of all primary bone tumours. GCT in the distal third of ulna is quite rare. We present a case of recurrent GCT in distal third of ulna with malignant features involving tenosynovium. The case was treated by wide resection of tumour and on follow up, patient recovered well with no evidence of further recurrence. Considering the features, according to the literature reviewed, is the first case of its type.

RESUMO

Osteoblastoma is a primary bone-forming tumour that usually occurs in the second decade with an affinity to the posterior elements when found in the spine. Its occurrence in the early first decade is uncommon and often causes a diagnostic dilemma. It usually has a late presentation and the symptoms may be non-specific which may lead the clinician to overlook this particular entity. We present a case of osteoblastoma of the posterior elements of the C5 vertebra in a pre-adolescent child who was diagnosed and successfully managed with surgical resection in a timely fashion that led to favourable recovery postoperatively.

PURPOSE: The complex anatomy of acetabular fracture needs a surgical approach that can achieve anatomical reduction with fewer complications for the fixation of these fractures. Current literature suggests that both Pararectus (PR) approach and Ilioinguinal (IL) approach can be used for the fixation of these fractures safely. However, superiority of the PR approach over the IL approach is not established. Hence, this meta-analysis aimed to compare the PR versus IL approach. METHODOLOGY: A literature search was performed on five databases Medline/PubMed, Scopus Embase, Cinhal, and Cochrane Library, from the inception to January 14, 2023. A qualitative and quantitative analysis was done for the five eligible studies from the literature search. Individual study characteristics data and outcomes were extracted, and Software version 5.4.1 of Review Manager was used for statistical analysis. RESULTS: Five articles, one Randomized trial (RCT), and four retrospective articles were included and analyzed in this meta-analysis. PR approach has a shorter surgical time [mean difference (MD) -48.4 with 95% CI -74.49, -22.30; p = 0.0003], less intraoperative blood loss (MD -123.22 with 95% CI -212.28, -34.15; p = 0.007), and smaller surgical incision (MD -9.87 with 95% CI -15.21, -4.52; p = 0.0003) than the IL approach. However, the meta-analysis failed to show a difference between the two surgical approaches concerning the quality of reduction, overall complications, nerve injury, vascular injury, heterotopic ossification, deep vein thrombosis, and pulmonary embolism. CONCLUSION: The PR approach has a shorter surgical duration, less blood loss, and a smaller surgical incision than the IL approach. However, both surgical approaches have equivocal results regarding fracture reduction quality, complication rates, and functional outcomes for acetabular fracture fixation. Hence, for acetabular fractures fixation, PR approach can be considered a safe and feasible alternative to the IL approach.

PURPOSE: A locking plate (LP) or non-locking plate (NLP) can be used for distal fibula fracture fixation. However, the advantages of LP over NLP in patients with distal fibula fractures are not clear. In terms of indications, the role of the two plates probably differs; however, to draw comparative conclusions, we conceptualized this systematic review and meta-analysis of studies that directly compared the two plates, wherein both groups' indications and baseline parameters were similar. METHODS: An electronic literature search was performed using PubMed/Medline, Embase, Scopus, and Cochrane Library databases for studies comparing the LP versus NLP fixation for the lateral malleolus fracture. A total of 18 studies were included in qualitative and quantitative analysis. A subgroup analysis was performed for patients aged < 55 years and patients aged > 55 years. The statistical analysis was performed by Review Manager Software version 5.4.1. RESULTS: A meta-analysis of 4243 fractures was performed across 18 studies. The rate of fracture union and overall complication rates did not differ between the two fixation groups with an OR of 0.71 (95% CI 0.26, 1.96, p = 0.51 and 1.11 (95% CI 0.84, 1.47, p = 0.47, respectively. There is no difference in the reoperation rate due to minor or major complications between the two groups. There was no difference in functional outcome (MD -0.85, with 95% CI -5.63, 3.93, p = 0.73), but NLP has a shorter surgical duration (MD 3.0, with 95% CI 0.26, 5.75, p = 0.03). A leave-one-out sensitivity analysis performed for overall complications affected the final outcome of the meta-analysis. CONCLUSION: This meta-analysis demonstrates no clear benefit in selecting LP over NLP for the fixation of lateral malleolus fractures.

RESUMO

Ewing's sarcoma is a malignant round cell tumour of bones and soft tissues that usually arises from the diaphyseal or meta-diaphyseal parts of long bones and less commonly from flat bones. It occurs rarely in the foot and if occurs, the calcaneus and the metatarsals are commonly involved. We present a case of a young woman diagnosed with primary Ewing's sarcoma of the talus with local spread to adjacent tarsals and the ankle joint. Ewing's sarcoma of feet, if present with even a trivial suspicion of spread either locally or distant, makes limb salvage surgery difficult. So, the treatment with radical surgery or by combined chemotherapy and radiotherapy should be considered-keeping in mind the complex anatomy of the foot and the difficulty in achieving tumour-free margins. Based on this experience, she underwent below-knee amputation. The patient received adjuvant chemotherapy and survived with a disease-free survival at the latest follow-up of 1 year.

The most prevalent metabolic bone disease, osteoporosis, is characterized by a decrease in bone mineral density and alterations to the bone's microstructure, both of which can result in fragility fractures. It affects a significant section of the population. Acute or chronic pain from these fractures is typical in elderly adults with other coexisting conditions. Since the antiresorptive medication only partially reduces pain, other analgesics are required for effective pain management. NSAIDs or selective COX-2 inhibitors can reduce acute pain, but persistent neuropathic pain is difficult to manage with these drugs. Opioids have their adverse effects and safety concerns, although they can be used to address acute or chronic pain. Hence, a multifaceted approach is to be implemented, including pharmacological and nonpharmacological therapy and surgical treatment in a selected number of cases. This chapter briefly describes the etiology of pain, its mechanism, and pain management in osteoporotic patients.

BACKGROUND: Early knee osteoarthritis (OA) treatment is multimodal, with physical therapy and pharmacotherapy commonly used. Although popular, oral supplements like glucosamine and diacerein have not been reported to have high efficacy. Undenatured collagen type II (UC-II) has been introduced for therapy in early OA; it helps in cartilage repair and preservation. The present review was done to ascertain its efficacy in pain relief and knee function. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A systematic literature search was performed on MEDLINE (PubMed), Embase, Scopus, and Cochrane Library for published literature; studies comparing the outcome of UC-II supplementation with placebo/control in adult humans with early knee OA were included. The outcomes evaluated were VAS Score, quality of life - Western Ontario and McMaster Universities (WOMAC-score), Knee function, Knee range of motion, and any complications during the course of treatment. RESULTS: A total of 293 results were obtained after a primary search; 8 randomized control trials (RCT) were finally included. A total of 243 patients received UC-II supplementation (91 men and 152 women). The overall mean age range for the intervention group was 53.5±0.99 to 68.7±5.3 years across all included studies, and the mean follow-up duration was 3 to 6 months. Outcome measures like WOMAC and VAS scores showed better outcomes with UC-II in comparison to placebo. Walking measurements improved significantly from the baseline, reflected in improved timed up-and-go and 6-minute walk tests (6MWT). The overall complications were similar to other supplements. CONCLUSION: With limited literature, UC-II has shown promise as a potent supplement in early knee OA with good pain relief and improved function. However, further large-scale studies are needed to substantiate these findings.

INTRODUCTION: Lumbosacral transitional vertebra (LSTV) is the most common congenital anomaly of the lumbosacral junction and is a frequent cause of back pain in young patients with a prevalence of 4.6% to 36% in different regions. OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to evaluate spinopelvic parameters in patients with lumbosacral transitional vertebra and to compare them with the same parameters of low back ache patients without lumbosacral transitional vertebra. METHODS: This was a cross-sectional and comparative study conducted among low back ache patients presenting to our tertiary care center. Low back ache patients presenting to the outpatient department of AIIMS Jodhpur were screened for LSTV using radiographs. The spinopelvic parameters of those with LSTV were measured using Surgimap software and compared with the parameters of low back ache patients without LSTV. An Independent sample t-test was done and p-values were calculated. RESULTS: The spinopelvic parameters, pelvic incidence, pelvic tilt and lumbar lordosis differed significantly in the patients with LSTV. Pelvic incidence was higher in the group with LSTV (58.5+9.3) when compared to the group without LSTV (50+8.8) with a p-value (<0.001). Pelvic tilt was higher in the group with LSTV (19.4+8.8) when compared to the group without LSTV (13.6+7.8) with a p-value (0.001). Lumbar lordosis was significantly higher in the group with LSTV (57.6+13.2) when compared to the group without LSTV (50.7+12.2) with a p-value (0.007). No significant differences were obtained in sacral slope and Pelvic-incidence and lumbar lordosis mismatch. CONCLUSION: LSTV alters the spinopelvic parameters. Altered spinopelvic parameters predispose to spondylolisthesis, degenerative disc disease, and facet joint arthritis and are important in preoperative planning in spine and pelvic surgeries.

Purpose: Intertrochanteric Femur Fractures (IFF) fixation could be done with short or long Cephalomedullary Nails (CMNs). Nevertheless, despite several studies in the literature, there has been a continued lack of consensus on which design of CMN is better than the other. Hence, the current review aimed to evaluate the evidence about short versus long CMNs for the fixation of IFF. Methodology: PRISMA guidelines were followed, and the protocol for the study was registered to PROSPERO. Four databases, Medline/PubMed, Embase, Scopus, and Cochrane Library, were searched. A total of 31 studies with 6 randomized trials (RCTs) and 25 non-randomized studies were included. Demographic data, follow-up period, and primary and secondary outcomes were extracted and evaluated from each of the included studies; statistical analysis was done by Review Manager Software version 5.4.1. Results: Fourteen thousand five hundred forty-seven patients were included in this review. Primary Outcomes: Long CMNs showed statistically significant lower rates of ipsilateral shaft femur refracture (OR 1.60, 95% CI 1.14, 2.24, p = 0.007); however, the difference was not statistically significant between the two groups for mortality at 30 days and within 1 year. Secondary Outcomes: Statistically significant shorter duration of surgery (MD-17.83 (95% CI - 22.03, - 13.63, p < 0.05), less intra-operative blood loss (MD - 62.65, 95% CI - 97.13 to - 28.17, p = < 0.05), and lower blood transfusion rates (OR 0.71, 95% CI 0.62, 0.83, p < 0.05) for short CMNs; no statistically significant difference for the length of hospital stay, implant-related complications, overall complications, re-operation rates, fluoroscopy time, and functional outcome between two groups of CMNs was seen. Conclusion: With shorter operative time, lesser intra-operative blood loss, and lower postoperative transfusion rates for short CMNs, they have certain benefits over longer CMNs. However, more distal shaft femur fractures were seen in the shorter version of nail, which should be considered before offering these nails to a patient; careful and individualized postoperative weight-bearing protocol could minimize the same. Chordoma is an uncommon malignant bone tumour of low metastatic potential, the commonest site of which being sacrum. We intend to report two cases of giant sacrococcygeal chordoma managed surgically. The first patient presented with natal cleft swelling since past 3 years which on examination had a size of 12*10*14 and was mildly tender, non reducible, non pulsatile and non fluctuant. The swelling had a variegated surface and extended from sacral region till 2 cm above anal verge. The second patient presented with low backache with radiation to the left lower limbs along with numbness in posterior aspect of left thigh. Physical examination in the second patient was near similar to that in first case except the decreased perianal sensation with otherwise normal neurology in the second patient. The imaging and histopathology was consistent with sacroccocygeal chordoma in both cases. Both patients underwent wide margin resection with preservation of both S2 and right S3 roots. Effective management of sacrococcygeal chordoma requires early diagnosis, accurate preoperative staging, definitive and adequate surgical resection with proved tumour-free cut margins while in those declining surgery, radiotherapy can be considered as an alternative.

BACKGROUND: Robot-assisted total hip arthroplasty (THA) is an emerging technology that claims to position implants with very high accuracy. However, there is currently limited data in literature on whether this improved accuracy leads to better long-term clinical outcomes. This systematic review compares the outcomes of THA done with the help of robotic assistance (RA) to those done with conventional manual techniques (MTs). METHODS: Four electronic databases were searched for eligible articles that directly compared robot-assisted THA to manual THA and had data on the radiological or clinical outcomes of both. Data on various outcome parameters were collected. Meta-analysis was conducted using a random-effects model with 95% CIs. RESULTS: A total of 17 articles were found eligible for inclusion, and 3600 cases were analysed. Mean operating time in the RA group was significantly longer than in the MT group. RA resulted in significantly more acetabular cups being placed inside Lewinnek's and Callanan's safe zones (p<0.001) and had significantly reduced limb length discrepancy compared with MT. There were no statistically significant differences in the two groups in terms of incidence of perioperative complications, need for revision surgery and long-term functional outcome. CONCLUSION: RA leads to highly accurate implant placement and leads to significantly reduced limb length discrepancies. However, the authors do not recommend robot-assisted techniques for routine THAs due to lack of adequate long-term follow-up data, prolonged surgical times and no significant differences in the rate of complications and implant survivorship compared with conventional MTs.

INTRODUCTION: tibial pilon fracture constitutes 5-7% of all tibial fractures. The treatment of choice is an open reduction with anatomical articular reconstruction and stable fixation. A relievable fracture classification is needed for the preoperative planning the surgical management of these fractures. Hence, we assessed the inter- and intra-observer variation of Leonetti and Tigani CT bases classification of tibial pilon fractures. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this prospective study, 37 patients aged between 18-65 years with an ankle fracture were included. All these patients underwent a CT scan for the ankle fracture, and the CT scan was further evaluated by 5 independent observers (Orthopaedic surgeon). A kappa value was determined for inter and intra-observer variation. RESULTS: Leonetti and Tigani's CT-based classification of the kappa values was 0.657 to 0.751, with a mean value of 0.700. The range of values for the intra-observer variation using Leonetti and Tigani CT-based classification on the kappa values was 0.658 to 0.875 with a mean value of 0.755. The P-value < 0.001 states that there was a significant agreement between the inter-observer and intra-observer classification. CONCLUSION: Leonetti and Tigani Classification have shown substantial inter- and intra-observer agreement, and the "4B" subclass of Leonetti and Tigani CT-based classification showed a predominance in the present study.

Background: Midline surgical incision used in Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) is associated with iatrogenic injury to the infrapatellar branch of the saphenous nerve, which leads to neuropathic dermatitis around the healed surgical scar. There are very few studies with a limited number of cases that have reported this complication. We evaluated the incidence of neuropathic dermatitis and its implication for the functional outcome in TKA patients. Methodology: Patients who underwent primary TKA between 1 January 2010 and 31 August 2019 and presented in follow-up with sensory disturbances and skin lesions adjacent to the surgical incision were evaluated in this study. Results: A total of 3318 patients with 4282 TKAs were included, of which 188 patients presented with the clinical picture of neuropathic dermatitis. There were 136 females and 52 males with a mean age of 67.13 years (range 37-92 years). The mean duration from surgery to the appearance of skin lesions was 4.4 months (range 2-6 months), and they resolved at a mean duration of 7.67 (range 6-12) weeks. In our study, we found an incidence of 5.52%. All these patients had a stable and well-functioning knee at the time of presentation of the lesion with a mean Knee Society Score (KSS) of 92 (range 84-96). Conclusion: In our study, we found the incidence of neuropathic dermatitis to be 5.52%, without any long-term implication on the functional outcome of operated knees. For a self-limiting complication of midline knee incision of TKA, it either resolves on its own or requires a short duration of topical steroid application.

RESUMO

Giant cell tumour of bone accounts for 5% of all primary bone tumours. Multicentric giant cell tumour is an infrequent variety be it either synchronous or metachronous accounting for less than 1% of all giant cell tumours. Synchronous multicentric giant cell tumour of foot and ankle with epiphysiometaphyseal origin is unheard of. We delineate a case of soap-bubble appearance lytic lesions at left distal tibia and talus in an early adolescent woman with biopsy proven giant cell tumour for its rarity and its successful management by extended curettage and allogenic impaction bone grafting.
