RESUMO

The development of Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) has also allowed researchers to understand the complexity of diseases better and find new treatments for difficult-to-treat conditions. Using mAbs, researchers can identify and target specific molecules in the body involved in the disease process. This has allowed for a more targeted treatment approach, which has resulted in improved outcomes for many patients. This hypothesis has been the basis for the development of mAbs that can target an array of illnesses. In the past two decades, therapeutic mAbs have been developed to treat cancer, autoimmune diseases, cardiovascular diseases, and metabolic diseases. For instance, using mAbs has improved outcomes in treating rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, and Crohn's disease. However, delivering mAbs in biological systems remains a significant challenge in drug delivery. This is due to their large size, low stability in circulation, and difficulties in achieving their desired action in the target cells. Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) are an essential tool in biological systems, as they can be used to deliver drugs to specific cell types or tissues. Cloning methods of monoclonal antibody production have been developed to produce mAbs with therapeutic potential. Hence, the present review focused on the development and drug delivery of Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) in biological systems, which includes cloning methods, various drug delivery technologies, formulation production technology, and its applications in multiple diseases were focused for this review.

Quantum dots (QDs) have received much attention due to their extraordinary optical application in medical diagnostics, optoelectronics and in energy storage devices. The most conventional QDs are based on semiconductors that comprise heavy metals whose applications are limited due to toxicity and potential environmental hazard. Of late, researchers are focusing on carbon-based quantum dots, which have recently emerged as a new family of zero-dimensional nanostructured materials. They are spherical in shape with a size below 10 nm and exhibit excitation-wavelength-dependent photoluminescence (PL). Carbon quantum dots (CQDs) have unique optical, photoluminescence and electrochemical properties. They are environment-friendly with low toxicity as compared to toxic heavy metal quantum dots. Generally, CQDs are derived from chemical precursor materials, but recently researchers have focused their attention on the production of CQDs from waste biomass materials due to the economic and environmental exigency. In this review, recent advances in the synthesis of CQDs from waste biomass materials, functionalization and modulation of CQDs and their potential application of biosensing are focused. This review also brings out some challenges and future perspectives for developing smart biosensing gadgets based on CQDs.

Sandfly prevalence in the Kani tribe settlements of Western Ghats in India was investigated. A total of 1,279 sandflies comprising 17 species was obtained. Sandfly abundance showed a negative correlation (r = -0.97, p = 0.003) with increase in altitudinal ranges from 0-1,000 m. When sandfly samples were grouped according to landscape characteristics of the location, the estimated Shannon-Weiner index (H) and species richness index (S) were high and species evenness index (J) was low in settlements located at 0-300 m altitudinal range. On the contrary, the values of H and J were high, while S was low at 301-600 m altitudinal range. With further increase in altitude, species diversity, S and J were low. Though the relative abundance of sandflies decreased with increase in altitude, the influence of altitudinal variation could not be attributed to determine sandfly diversity, since the number of sampling units were not uniform at all the altitudinal gradients due to nonavailability of suitable resting shelters. Sandfly species showed great aggregation at 0-300 m altitude interval, where not only the number of settlements were maximum (n = 19), but also the environmental conditions favoured sandfly abundance due to the concentration of tribal settlements, human dwellings and his activities.
