[Spontaneous retroperitoneal hematoma from ileopsoas muscle bleeding. A case report]. / L'ematoma retroperitoneale spontaneo da sanguinamento del muscolo ileopsoas. Considerazioni su un caso clinico.

The Authors report a case of spontaneous retroperitoneal hematoma due to iliopsoas muscle bleeding. The different causes responsible of such hematomas are taken into account as well as clinical, therapeutical and pathophysiologic aspects connected with the spontaneous bleeding of the iliopsoas muscle. As in the case observed, the Authors suggest that often a careful wait-and-see approach represents the most appropriate therapeutical choice.

[Idiopathic retroperitoneal fibrosis]. / La fibrosi retroperitoneale idiopatica.

The authors, on the basis of a case recently observed dwell upon the natural history, the etiopathogenesis, and diagnosis of idiopathic retroperitoneal fibrosis. After confirming that medical therapy may be successful in selected cases only, different surgical procedures are analysed. It is concluded that outcome and prognosis of these subjects depend on early diagnosis.

[Role of screening as an index of predictability in the early diagnosis of nonpalpable lesions of the breast]. / Il ruolo dello screening in senologia quale indice di predittività nella diagnostica precoce delle lesioni non palpabili della mammella.

The Authors, on the basis of their personal experience and supported by more significative data from the international literature, underline the validity of the screening in detecting non palpable lesions of the breast. They conclude by asserting that mortality for breast cancer may be further reduced if more and more women undergo screening programmes.

[Wilms' tumor in adults]. / Il tumore di Wilms nell'adulto.

The Authors report a case of Wilms' tumor in a 38-year-old woman. Through a review of such neoplastic condition some etiopathogenetic and clinical considerations are made. It is concluded that postsurgical adjuvant therapy in adulthood must not differ from that of childhood.
