RESUMO
The frequency of ocular herpes has increased in the last time. The pathogenic mechanisms of herpetic ocular inflammation consist in cells degeneration produced by intracell virus accumulation, and immunopathological processes. It is presented the antiviral treatment in ocular herpes and antiviral efficacity of acyclovir, in comparison with other chemotherapeutics.

In Ophthalmological Clinic of the District Bucharest Hospital, the authors studied 59 patients with herpetic keratitis, and keratouveitis treated with Zovirax (acyclovir). They try to prove with clinical arguments the efficacity of this treatment in different forms of herpetic keratitis. The authors consider the acyclovir like the election therapy of ocular herpes, because it determines the increase of ocular vision in almost cases with short average hospitalization.

The authors study etiopathogenic clinical and therapeutic features of ocular injuries on a group of 175 children hospitalised and treated in the Department of Ophthalmology from Municipal Clinical Hospital of Bucharest. The study includes also the immediately and belated sequels.
