RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Assessment of antibacterial properties of a new intracanal paste based on calcium hydroxocuprate (CHC) and silver nanoparticles hydrosol for passive root impregnation. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The study included 55 teeth with 69 root canals belonging patients with chronic apical periodontitis. The main group, including 44 root canals, was filled with a new paste based on CHC and silver nanoparticles for 7 days after preparation and irrigation. In the control group, 25 root canals were sealed with an aqueous paste of calcium hydroxide for 14 days. The presence of the endodontic microorganisms was evaluated by real-time PCR. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: Further analysis showed that the amount of the DNA, common for P. gingivalis, T. forsythia and T. denticola, after treatment was less in the main group, where the new paste was applied. These results were significant at the p=0.05 level (p=0.005, p=0.006, p=0.003 according to each mentioned bacterial sample). No significant differences were found between the groups in the number of genome equivalents specific for P. intermedia and F. nucleatum (p=0.543, p=0.554). CONCLUSION: These findings suggest that the new method of passive root impregnation with the CHC and silver nanoparticles paste may be an effective method for the treatment of chronical apical periodontitis.

RESUMO

The reason for insufficient efficiency of endodontic treatments is a complex structure of root canals system and presence of dentine tubules (DT) in a root dentine. For sterilization and obturation of all spaces in a root canal system the method of cupper-calcium hydroxide (CCH) electrophoresis was developed. The authors proposed more effective method of CCH galvanophoresis by means of galvanic pins based on electrophoresis principles but allowing deep impregnation of the root dentine by nanoparticles of CCH. The purpose of the study was to validate the parameters of root dentine nanoimpregnation by CCH at endodontic galvanophoresis. Material and methods. Research has carried out on 24 removed teeth in laboratory model. The impact of irrigation of root canal and nanoimpregnation duration on the microflora, dentine smear layer, depth of penetration of CCH particles in dentine tubules was studied by scanning electronic microscopy. Results. Irrigation of root canals essentially reduces the amount of microorganisms and eliminates the dentine smear layer. Nanoimpregnation of root dentine by CCH for 1 day results in obtuation of 60-70% of DT up to 100-200 nm, for 1 week - promotes uniform obturation of DT to 35-50 microns. These values proves galvanophoresis to be a useful tool for pulpitis treatment. By nanoimpregnation for 2 weeks DT were filled with nanoparticles of CCH on depth up to 1.2-1.5 mm, and for 4 weeks - up to 2.5 mm. These terms can be recommended for treatment of apical periodontitis.

RESUMO

In experimental research on 52 removed teeth an opportunity of sharing of a technique nanoimpregnation dentin a root hydroxide cuprum-calcium (Cupral) and sealings root the channel with application polypropylene pins Flex Point Neo was studied. Before sealing of root channela in laboratory model there was carried out within 7 day galvanophoresis of hydroxide cuprum-calcium with the help of invented by author's galvanic pins. Then channels were sealed up by material Dentalis KEZ with polypropylene pins. Methods of dye microinfiltration and scanning electronic microscopy revealed high efficacy of the specified way of endodontic treatments, consisting in good hermetic sealing system of root channels. In addition the autors defined, that temperature sterilization and efforts to bend did not cause essential deformation of pins and they corresponded to the ISO requirements.

RESUMO

The results of questionnaires and body-weight technique (applicable to nutrition assessment) (14 days in 40 families) of the Chuvash Republic were evaluated. The questionnaires' data were analyzed for 3, 7, 10 and 14-day periods and separately for weekends. A statistical analysis showed a lack of reliable quantitative differences both in respect to calculating all nutrients and in respect to the food value of daily rations during different time periods; however, reliable differences were detected between families' nutrition in weekends and working days. It was recommended to conduct such studies at least for as long as 7 days in order to ensure a complete hygienic evaluation of a balanced daily ration and to take account of all consumed foodstuffs.

RESUMO

A hydrogen-oxidizing actinomycete (Z-1046) was isolated from a flood-plain marsh in the Moscow Region. Its taxonomy was compared with that of similar cultures belonging to international special standards of actinomycetes (ISP). The strain Z-1046 was found to be identical with Streptomyces autotrophicus ISP-5011 (RIA-1008, ATCC-19727, CBS-466.68, IFO-12743). It has been also shown that the generic identification of the standard culture ISP-5011 is erroneous: as Hirsch (1960) holds, the culture belongs to the genus of Nocardia (Proactinomyces). Thus, the culture Streptomyces (Actinomyces) autotrophicus ISP-5011 must be eliminated from the international special standards of the genera Streptomyces and Streptoverticillium. The autotrophous actinomycete that we have isolated is classed as Proactinomyces autotrophicus comb. nov. (=Streptomyces autotrophicus Takamiya et Tubaki, 1956, ISP-5011, RIA-1008, ATCC-19727, CBS-466.68, IFO-12743, =Nocardia autotrophica, Hirsch, 1960).

RESUMO

Cell walls of Actinomyces erythraeus RIA-1387 were found to contain m-diaminopimelic acid, arabinose, and galactose (type IV of cell walls). The mycelium undergoes fragmentation during superficial and submerged growth, and is not susceptible, or only mildly sensitive, to the action of lysozyme. The colonies of Act. erythraeus have no horizontal layers. These data suggest that the organism was erroneously classed as belonging to the Actinomyces genus. It should be transferred to the Proactinomyces genus under the name of Proactinomyces erythraeus (Waksman et Curtis) comb. nov.

RESUMO

Studies on variation of the streptomycin-producing organism Act. streptomycini 773 on its storage in lyophilized state showed that prolonged maintenance (for 8 years) resulted in increased percentage of "oligospore" (up to 6.9 per cent) and asporogenic (up to 6.0 per cent) variants in the population. The variants had lower transamidinase and antibiotic activity.
