RESUMO

An attempt to evaluate the influence of tritium oxide on the metabolism by some indices of lipid metabolism (common lipids, beta-lipoproteins, cholesterin), protein metabolism (cholinesterasa) and carbohydrate metabolism (blood sugar) was made. It was established that the introduction into organism of tritium oxide in the quantities, which could form lethal and sublethal doses of internal radiation, provoked the main changes of values of mentioned indices of metabolism. The character of metabolism changes in the remote period allows us to judge about the development of sclerosis processes, which can be the result of radiation-stipulated acceleration of organism aging.

RESUMO

The effect of Medetopect, a food additive, on the metabolic kinetics of transuranics (239Pu and 241Am) has been studied experimentally in white mongrel rats following chronic intake by ingestion. The Medetopect application has been shown to be advantageous for reduction of the 239Pu and 241Am absorption from and content of the gastrointestinal tract of the animals.

RESUMO

Biological effects of multiple gamma irradiation combined with incorporated 241Am were studied. A cumulative effect provided by each agent was estimated. The radiation disease development was more serious than that caused by a separate action of each radiation agents in the same doses.

RESUMO

The distribution of two transuranic elements, plutonium and americium, in pregnant rats and in their fetuses, and the carcinogenic effects seen in progeny exposed perinatally are discussed. The appearance of malignant tumours in the liver and skeleton corresponds to the pattern of deposition of these radionuclides in the body.

RESUMO

In experiments with rats a study was made of a number of factors influencing the resorption of 241Am from the gastrointestinal tract (GIT). The resorption of 241Am from GIT was found to be 120-245 times more intensive in neonatal rats, during the first 21 days after birth (a milk diet), than in adult animals. A milk diet for adult rats produced a 5-fold increase in the resorption of 241Am from GIT. The additional administration of digestive enzymes, as a homogenate from pancreas and small intestine, produced a 7--9-fold increase in the rate of 241Am resorption from GIT.

RESUMO

Production of exocellular higher fatty acids by Candida yeasts was studied during their growth in a mineral medium with hexadecane. The qualitative and quantitative composition of exocellular higher fatty acids was investigated during cultivation of Candida lipolytica VCM Y 2378(695) under the conditions of different aeration (5 and 80% saturation of the medium with oxygen). Palmitic (C16:0), palmitooleic (C16:1), oleic (C18:1) and linoleic (C18:2) acids predominated among other higher fatty acids. The overall amount of fatty acids increased and the content of unsaturated fatty acids decreased when the yeast growth was limited with oxygen.

RESUMO

The method of potarographic assay of nicotinic acid in the culure liquid has been developed. The effect of all the constituents of the culture liquid on the accuracy of measurements has been tested. The analytic scheme which provides elimination of interfering components has been devised. As the polarographic medium 0.1 n HCl was used. The quantity of nicotinic acid was measured with respect to the wave of E1/2 = - 1.18 v. The described method makes it possible to identify nicotinic acid at concentrations of 3.3 X 10(-4) M to 3.3 X 10(-3) M in the culture liquid with an error of not more than +/-5%.

RESUMO

Alkaloid-like substances have been obtained from the cultivation of fungi Penicillium granulatum and Penicillin corylophillum. The procedure for their preparative isolation has been developed. They do not have physico-chemical characteristics typical of alkaloids viridicatine and cyclopenine, previously isolated from Penicillium fungi. The presence of nitrogen in the structure has been shown in the product synthesized by Penicillium granulatum. Ultraviolet, infrared, nuclear magnetic resonance and mass spectra have been recorded for the product.

RESUMO

Studies of the kinetic sorption of nicotinic acid have demonstrated that the ionites AH-22, AH-31 and IR-45 absorb it quantitatively from water solutions. The static exchange capacity of nicotinic acid makes 3.5 mmole/g for AH-22 and IR-45 and 2.0 mmole/g for AH-31 and remains unchanged after ionite sterilization. Ionite AH-22 absorbs also quantitatively nicotinic acid from reaction mixtures used in its microbiological synthesis from 3-methyl pyridine. Formic acid (2n) desorbs entirely nicotinic acid from the above ionites. The sorption of nicotinic acid on AH-22 and IR-45 ionites is associated with diffusion processes; there is no chemical interaction between nicotinic acid and the ionites tested.
