RESUMO

The study focuses on hyperbaric oxygenation (HBO) influence on the intracranial pressure (ICP) in patients with intracranial hemorrhages. Forty eight hyperbaric oxygenation sessions in 21 mechanically ventilated patients with intracranial hemorrhages were analyzed. HBO was accompanied by ICP increase in 31,3% of cases. ICP was stable during 54,2% of sessions and decreased during 14,5% of sessions. We didn 't find any relation between ICP dynamics and PaCO2. ICP increase correlated with mean BP dynamics which growth by 11% and more was an indicator of intracranial hypertension.

RESUMO

The paper presents the results of a study of the clinical features of psychoneurological disorders in 178 patients with acute intoxications by various psychotropic drugs. Hyperbaric oxygenation showed positive changes in psychopathological syndromic kinesis. A sanogenetic rationale is provided for the method of choice in treating this category of patients.

RESUMO

Hyperbaric oxygenation (HBO) was used in intensive care of patients with acute exogenous poisonings. Impaired oxygen homeostasis was pathogenetically significant, irrespective of the toxic agent. HBO added to a complex of intensive care measures was pathogenetically justified and promoted normalization of clinical and biochemical parameters of homeostasis.

RESUMO

Hyperbaric oxygenation (HBO) was used in the treatment of 475 patients with toxic encephalopathy (TE) developing as a result of exo- and endotoxicosis. HBO promoted correction of all components of homeostasis, decreased endotoxicosis, reduced psychopathological and neurological disorders, and promoted social adaptation.

RESUMO

Dynamic computer study of cardiointervalogram with determination of tension index (TI) has been conducted in the course of hyperbaric oxygenation (HBO) in 15 patients operated on for aneurysm ruptures in cerebral vessels. It has been established that TI evaluation makes it possible to register an adaptogenic effect of hyperoxia in these patients and is recommended for the continuation of HBO therapy which in some cases requires 10-12 sessions.

RESUMO

Hyperbaric oxygenation (HO) was used to treat the brain toxic edema excited by triethyltin++ chloride. Microscopic examination of the brains of two groups of animals (with and without HO) revealed the decay of pathologic signs of brain edema and reparative responses in the nervous tissue induced by HO.

RESUMO

Experiments were conducted on 30 rabbits with dosed injury inflicted on the brain; 15 animals were treated by means of hyperbaric oxygenation (HBO), the other 15 animals were not given treatment. The amount of total water in the brain tissue (separately in the grey and white matter) in various areas was determined by dessicating samples to constant weight. A significant reduction in the amount of tissue water in the brain in its traumatic edema occurred under the effect of HBO; a course of 10 sessions proved to be more effective than a course of 6 sessions.

RESUMO

The authors studied experimental brain edema and morphological changes in the cerebral tissue in 2 groups of animals: the test group receiving hyperbaric oxygenation (HBO) and the control group. The test animals showed a more favourable course of brain injury. Microscopic examination revealed a lesser degree of brain edema and intensification of reparative processes in the cerebral tissues of animals receiving HBO.

RESUMO

The course of the acute period of cerebral stroke was compared in two groups of patients matched by the major clinical criteria: the test group receiving hyperbaric oxygenation (HBO) and the control one given no such treatment. It was found that the patients of the test group developed no recurrent impairments of the cerebral circulation in the acute period whereas in the control group this complication occurred in ten patients. Possible mechanisms of action of hyperbaric oxygen in preventing recurrent cerebral strokes are discussed.

RESUMO

On the basis of a comparative analysis of the incidence of psychic disturbances seen in two groups of patients with craniocerebral trauma (subjects receiving HBO treatment and those without it), it is concluded that HBO is effective in preventing trauma-associated psychoses. The effect of HBO on the external respiration and central hemodynamics was also examined. The obtained results formed the basis for discussing possible pathogenetic mechanisms of hyperbaric oxygen action in this pathology.

RESUMO

The authors studied 52 patients with brain infarctions and transient disorders of cerebral circulation, which in the opinion of the authors developed as a result of arterio-arterial embolism. Besides, 16 post-mortem cases with arterio-arterial embolism were studied as well. On the basis of clinico-angiographical, clinico-laboratory and clinico-anatomical correlations, the authors come to the conclusion that this mechanism is frequently the main link in the pathogenesis of distrubed cerebral circulation. Embologenic materials in the development of brain infarctions are most often particles of parietal or obturating thrombi in the magistral cerebral vessels. In patients with transient disorders of cerebral circulation most likely embolism of the minor cerebral vessels by thrombocytic aggregates. The authors discuss the functional properties of thrombocytes in the pathogenesis of transient disorders of cerebral circulation and the feasibility of the use of antiaggregates for preventive purposes.

RESUMO

The paper is concerned with the results of fluorescent angiographies of the eye fundus in 24 patients with occlusions of the carotid arteries verified by angiographic methods. A comparison of clinical data, cerebral and fluorescent angiography of the eye ground revealed in the majority of the patients visual disturbances and a retardation of retinal circulation. It is assumed that the insufficiency of retinal circulation may be one of the pathogenetical mechanisms in the development of the optico-pyramidal syndrome in occulusions of the carotid artery.
