RESUMO

The purpose of this investigation was to define the efficiency of inclusion of antihistamines (suprastin or tavegil), enzyme drugs (pancreatin or mesim forte) and their combinations into therapy for a mild icteric form of acute viral hepatitis B (VHB) in children with food allergy (FA). Among the examinees, there were 61 children with FA who had experienced a mild icteric form of VHB and who received traditional therapy at the age of 3-14 years. Of them, 36 children were additionally given antihistamines (n = 7), enzyme drugs (n = 20), and their combination (n = 9). About half the children (47.54%) were boys. Blood samples were biochemically tested in children for bilirubin and enzymes 1, 3, 6, 9, and 12 months after their hospital discharge. The similar laboratory tests were carried out in 20 healthy children--a comparison (control) group. Analysis of discriminant functions stated the high efficiency of inclusion of enzyme drugs, or antihistamines in particular, or their combinations with enzyme drugs, that considerably reduce the time it takes to normalize the complexes of the indices of a blood biochemical test for bilirubin and enzymes.

RESUMO

The purpose of this investigation was to define the impact of food allergy (FA) in children on the time of normalization of a complex of the indices of a blood biochemical test for bilirubin and enzymes in acute viral hepatitis B (VHB). Discriminant function analysis through the mathematical expression of the combined influence of variables in a complex of the values of a blood biochemical test for bilirubin and enzymes in children with FA who had experienced a mild icteric form of VHB showed the absence of their normalization throughout one-year follow-up after hospital discharge. Among the examinees, there were twenty-five 3-14-year-old children with FA who had experienced a mild icteric form of VHB. About half of them were girls (44%). Blood biochemical tests for bilirubin and enzymes were carried out in both the acute stage of the disease and in convalescence at least 5 times 1, 3, 6, 9, and 12 months after their hospital discharge. The similar laboratory tests (blood biochemical tests for bilirubin and enzymes, marker spectrum to hepatitis virus) were performed in 20 healthy children (a control group).

RESUMO

The paper presents a method of quantitation of endogenous and exogenous glucocorticoids by high-efficiency liquid chromatography. The developed technique is implemented on the basis of Russian equipment and Russian reagents (except for etalons). A "Milichrom" Russian chromatograph is convenient and safe in operation; as for the detection limit, it is not inferior to its foreign analogues. The suggested technique is simple, safe and can be implemented at city and district patient-care facilities.

RESUMO

The kinetics of cortisol was investigated in 26 healthy subjects and in 9 patients with rheumatoid arthritis induced by exogenous glucocorticosteroids. The cortisol concentration was determined in blood serum by using a high-efficiency liquid chromatography method. The cortisol kinetic parameters were found by empirically constructed formulae. An inadequate synthesis of cortisol was found in patients with rheumatoid arthritis after prednisolone administration. The results can be used for evaluating the pharmacodynamic properties of glucocorticosteroids.

RESUMO

AIM: To study pharmacokinetics of prednisolone in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). MATERIAL AND METHODS: The examination of 10 RA patients included blood tests for glucocorticoids 1, 2, 4 and 6 hours after the drug intake. Serum steroids were measured using high performance liquid chromatography. Pharmacokinetic parameters were estimated in one-chamber model with absorption. RESULTS: In spite of the same dose of prednisolone, its serum concentration as well as pharmacokinetic parameters were individual in each patient. CONCLUSION: Pharmacokinetic indices of prednisolone in RA patients provide more reliable information for design of treatment scheme for each patient individually.

RESUMO

The volume of retention of corticosterone, hydrocortisone, aldosterone, dexamethasone, cortisone, methylprednisolone, and prednisolone during their separation by high-performance liquid chromatography was evaluated. The studies were performed on a Milichrome microcolumn chromatographer. The order of glucocorticoid release and volume of their retention were under study. Measurement of endogenous and exogenous plasma glucocorticoids is practically important in clinical medicine. Steroid concentrations indicate the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of exogenous glucocorticoids and their effects on the production of endogenous steroids and reflect the biorhythms of corticosterone and hydrocortisone.
