RESUMO

The nuclear charge radius of ^{32}Si was determined using collinear laser spectroscopy. The experimental result was confronted with ab initio nuclear lattice effective field theory, valence-space in-medium similarity renormalization group, and mean field calculations, highlighting important achievements and challenges of modern many-body methods. The charge radius of ^{32}Si completes the radii of the mirror pair ^{32}Ar-^{32}Si, whose difference was correlated to the slope L of the symmetry energy in the nuclear equation of state. Our result suggests L≤60 MeV, which agrees with complementary observables.

RESUMO

Molecules containing short-lived, radioactive nuclei are uniquely positioned to enable a wide range of scientific discoveries in the areas of fundamental symmetries, astrophysics, nuclear structure, and chemistry. Recent advances in the ability to create, cool, and control complex molecules down to the quantum level, along with recent and upcoming advances in radioactive species production at several facilities around the world, create a compelling opportunity to coordinate and combine these efforts to bring precision measurement and control to molecules containing extreme nuclei. In this manuscript, we review the scientific case for studying radioactive molecules, discuss recent atomic, molecular, nuclear, astrophysical, and chemical advances which provide the foundation for their study, describe the facilities where these species are and will be produced, and provide an outlook for the future of this nascent field.

Emotional processing is a cognitive function essential for the interaction of humans with their environment and the development of adaptive behaviors. Adolescent offenders (AOs) express difficulty in cognitive processes linked to emotional processing, which is a response consistently observed during the endogenous (i.e., controlled) control of attention. Less remains understood of the extent to which such atypical responses extend beyond controlled attention and influence exogenous mechanisms (i.e., automatic). This study explores this hypothesis using the recently devised emotional Flanker paradigm. It recruited a group of 39 male AOs and 39 nonoffenders from Barranquilla, Colombia. Assessment consists of an emotional Flanker paradigm administered along with traditional neurocognitive and social cognition tasks. The AOs displayed the well-known attentional bias to threat and a relatively atypical response to emotional targets in which they detected emotions, particularly negative ones, faster than did nonoffenders. Frontal lobe functions account for these effects but not sociodemographic variables nor general cognitive abilities. The results are interpreted in light of evidence suggesting that youngsters with high levels of antisocial behaviors (e.g., callous-unemotional traits) present an enhanced orientation toward distressing stimuli, which is explained by lifelong experiences (e.g., histories of abuse). The findings suggest that environmental influences seemingly exist in the development of these traits, but additional research is required to elucidate the role of cognitive and environmental factors in the development of antisocial behavior.

RESUMO

One of the most important properties influencing the chemical behavior of an element is the electron affinity (EA). Among the remaining elements with unknown EA is astatine, where one of its isotopes, 211At, is remarkably well suited for targeted radionuclide therapy of cancer. With the At- anion being involved in many aspects of current astatine labeling protocols, the knowledge of the electron affinity of this element is of prime importance. Here we report the measured value of the EA of astatine to be 2.41578(7) eV. This result is compared to state-of-the-art relativistic quantum mechanical calculations that incorporate both the Breit and the quantum electrodynamics (QED) corrections and the electron-electron correlation effects on the highest level that can be currently achieved for many-electron systems. The developed technique of laser-photodetachment spectroscopy of radioisotopes opens the path for future EA measurements of other radioelements such as polonium, and eventually super-heavy elements.

Visto desde un ángulo netamente económico, el tratamiento termal puede constituir un importante factor de ahorro de costos. Se hacen necesarios, en muchos casos, menos medicamentos. Reduce la dependencia o adición a ciertos fármacos como analgésicos, antinflamatorios, sedantes y otros. Reactiva y prolonga la capacidad de trabajo posponiendo el retiro prematuro por razones de salud. Se expone de manera general su acción sobre el organismo humano y cómo repercute en la calidad de vida de la población y en los sistemas de salud. Se muestra una cita de trabajos científicos que corroboran estas ventajas para la calidad de vida y la salud.


The main objective of Medical Hydrology is to provide medical and health care services, essentially preventive and rehabilitative and, in many cases, mainly in the workplace but also in the passive class and elderly people in general, in children and youth, in the sport, etc. Therapeutic treatment can be an important cost-saving factor (many drugs are needed in many cases), reducing dependence on or adding to certain drugs such as analgesics, anti-inflammatory, sedatives and others. And it prolongs the capacity of work postponing the premature retirement by reasons of health. It is exposed in a general way its action on the human organism and as it has repercussion in the quality of life of the population and in the Health Systems finally shows a work appointment Scientists who corroborate these advantages for quality of life and health.

RESUMO

ß-nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is highly sensitive compared to conventional NMR spectroscopy, and may be applied for several elements across the periodic table. ß-NMR has previously been successfully applied in the fields of nuclear and solid-state physics. In this work, ß-NMR is applied, for the first time, to record an NMR spectrum for a species in solution. (31)Mg ß-NMR spectra are measured for as few as 10(7) magnesium ions in ionic liquid (EMIM-Ac) within minutes, as a prototypical test case. Resonances are observed at 3882.9 and 3887.2 kHz in an external field of 0.3 T. The key achievement of the current work is to demonstrate that ß-NMR is applicable for the analysis of species in solution, and thus represents a novel spectroscopic technique for use in general chemistry and potentially in biochemistry.

RESUMO

Se presentó estudio retrospectivo, descriptivo, a pacientes que se le realiza endoscopia digestiva. Los estudios indoscopicos fueron realizados por especialistas en médicina interna, cirugía general y gastroenterología. Se realizá el estudio en ayuna con anestesia local en spray (xilocaina 2 porciento) generalmente se utiliza la clasificación de Borman para la descripción macroscópica de la lesión, posteriormente se toman muestras para biopsia entre 3 y 6 como promedio dependiendo del lugar de la lesión, luego se envían a patología donde son recibidas y etiquetadas para su introducción en máquinas procesadoras de tejidos, la cual luego en 17 horas apróximadamente,se incluyen en focos, de parafinas para realizar cortes histológicos con micratomos, posteriormente se procede a desparafinar y se realiza tinción en lámina porta objetos con hematoxisilina y Eosina se montan con láminas cubre objeto para realizar diagnósticos histopatológicos con microscopio por médico especialista en patología. Considerando el diagnóstico patológico, localización del tumor si hay o no diseminación metastásica se planifica el procedimiento quirúrgico en el paciente (Gastrectomía total, subtotal, radical y poliativo etc.)
