RESUMO

The active fraction, production, and respiration of heterotrophic bacteria are determined to assess their growth efficiency and their role in the carbon cycle in the pelagic zone of Rybinsk Reservoir in summer. The greater part of organic substances assimilated by bacteria is mineralized to CO2. It has been established that the essential part of the constructive and energy metabolism of bacteria is supported by the input of allochthonous substances. Bacterioplankton, producing the biomass at their expense, performs functions similar to the functions of phytoplankton, and substantially supports the structural and functional organization of the planktonic food web in the reservoir.

RESUMO

The eutrophic effect of products of vital activity of colonies of hydrophilic birds on the community of heterotrophic plankton in shallow parts of the plain reservoir is shown. The strongest effect of birds is observed in a protected part of the reservoir. Specific changes in some characteristics of zooplankton as distinct from the response to the anthropogenic effect are found.

RESUMO

Examinations of the hemostasis system parameters in patients with scleroderma, psoriatic arthritis, malignant lymphoma of the skin have revealed a significant elevation of fibrinogen concentration, acceleration of blood clotting time, increased prothrombin consumption in all the patients. Elevation of the prothrombin index was detected in the patients with scleroderma and psoriatic arthritis. A direct relationship between the disease severity, size of the involvement of the skin integument, inflammation activity in the joints, and severity of hemostasis impairment has been revealed.

RESUMO

Analysis of the informative value of signs and prognostic coefficients for 35 clinical amnestic and laboratory parameters helped make up a prognostic table for the assessment of the severity of psoriasis course and therapy efficacy. After consecutive Wald's processing 28 signs were selected out of these 35. The prognostic threshold was calculated, that permitted distribution of the patients into groups with favorable and unfavorable course of psoriasis.

RESUMO

The mutations in genes for nucleoside catabolism--dra (deoxyriboaldolase) and drm (phosphodeoxyribomutase), which belong to the same deo opron in Escherichia coli, have been mapped in different regions of the Bacillus subtilis chromosome. The drm mutation is cotransduced (by AR9 phage) with the citK gene at frequency of about 50%, while the dra mutation is cotransduced with the hutH gene at frequency of 57%.

RESUMO

By means of selection for a low thymine requirement the mutants fo thymine auxotrophs for deoxyriboaldolase (dra) and phosphodeoxyribomutase (drm) genes were obtained. Besides the mutants for pyrimidinenucleoside phosphorylase gene (pdp) were olso isolated using selection on the fluorodeoxyuridine resistance. The latter enzyme provides for pyrimidine nucleosides catabolism (thymidine, uridine) in Bacilli, as well as the conversion of exogenous thymine to thymidine in thymine auxotrophs. The data obtained when studying the deo-enzymes activities in various types of the mutants and also under the condition of induction by thymidine and acetoaldehyde are in accordance with the assumption that deoxyriboso-5-phosphate is an inductor of the deo-enzymes in Bacillus subtilis. The genes dra and pdp were tightly linked as it had been shown by the transformation experiments; in contrast, no linkage was revealed between dra and drm or pdp and drm. A secondary mutation (adn), not linked with dra and blocking the ability of bacteria to catabolise adenosine (purine nucleoside phosphorylase activity remains constant) was found in some dra-mutants.
