RESUMO

A particularly striking new phenomenon in recent years is the live streaming of video games through popular platforms, such as Twitch. This study focuses on the motivations and types of use underlying viewer participation in live streaming platforms. Based on the uses and gratifications theory, this paper aims to analyse how three basic motivations are related to the use of video game streaming platforms. Furthermore, it examines the moderating effects that significant variables, such as the audience member's age, sex or self-perception of level as a player may exert on this relationship. The results reveal that the three types of motivations are positively associated with use of the platform, although notable differences appear, with informational motivations outweighing entertainment and social motivations. At the same time, no moderating effects on the results of the proposed model were found for the heterogeneity stemming from sex and age. Conversely, the influence of informational motivations on the use of these platforms is moderated by the self-perception of level as a player.

RESUMO

El presente trabajo, analiza los conceptos de cultura organizacional y capital intelectual proponiendo un modelo de medición de este último que considera la cultura como el núcleo central alrededor del cual se configuran el resto de los elementos integrantes del mismo. Realizando un análisis del concepto de cultura organizacional en relación a los principales modelos de capital intelectual, se ha detectado su presencia en mayor o menor medida en cada uno de ellos, lo que lleva a los autores a la hipótesis de su posible configuración como un capital independiente dentro del modelo de medición del capital intelectual que se propone. El análisis de la cultura justifica su establecimiento como centro del modelo y nexo de unión del resto de elementos. La importancia del capital cultural dentro de las organizaciones se ha resaltado en dos niveles: estructural y operativo y se destaca como factor esencial, dotando de lógica interna al modelo propuesto (AU)


This paper addresses the concepts of organizational culture and intellectual capital and suggests a model for measuring the latter. In this model, culture is considered the core issue around which the other components of intellectual capital take shape. A review of the main models of intellectual capital showed that organizational culture was present in all models although to a different extent. This let the authors suggest a hypothesis of the intellectual capital as independent assets in terms of measurement. The analysis of culture makes it clear its key role in the model and as a link between the rest of elements.The relevance of cultural capital within organizations has been highlighted at two levels –structural and operational. Cultural capital is also a critical aspect since it provides the model with an internal logic (AU)
