RESUMO

Magnetic spinel ferrite materials offer various applications in biomedical, water treatment, and industrial electronic devices, which has sparked a lot of attention. This review focuses on the synthesis, characterization, and applications of spinel ferrites in a variety of fields, particularly spinel ferrites with doping. Spinel ferrites nanoparticles doped with the elements have remarkable electrical and magnetic properties, allowing them to be used in a wide range of applications such as magnetic fields, microwave absorbers, and biomedicine. Furthermore, the physical properties of spinel ferrites can be modified by substituting metallic atoms, resulting in improved performance. The most recent and noteworthy applications of magnetic ferrite nanoparticles are reviewed and discussed in this review. This review goes over the synthesis, doping and applications of different types of metal ferrite nanoparticles, as well as views on how to choose the appropriate magnetic ferrites based on the intended application.

RESUMO

Toxic dyes are irrefutable effluent components of textile wastewater, so they have become a major economic and health concern. With the purpose of efficient removal of textile dyes, multiple nature-inspired adsorbents have been applied. Herein, raw corncob is proposed as a novel highly efficient, low-price, and abundantly attainable adsorbent with the potential for uptake of methyl red and methyl orange. Multiple experiments were carried out to optimize parameters including pH, primary concentration, adsorbent dosage, temperature, and contact time. The adsorption was raised with the mounting of the contact time and it was alleviated with the addition of initial concentration. The foremost uptake of dye was apperceived at an acidic medium pH 4 for methyl red and pH 1 for methyl orange. Scanning Electron Microscopy and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy were employed to characterize the surfaces of corncobs. The well-fitted Langmuir and Freundlich models (methyl red: R2 = 0.9956 and methyl orange: R2 = 0.9883) confirmed the homogeneous monolayer adsorption process on the raw corncob surface. The obtained results disclose that corncob is an effectual biosorbent for eliminating anionic dyes without the necessity for any prior modifications.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) is one of the most momentous carbonaceous nanoparticles which is widely used for various applications such as electronics, vehicles, and therapeutics. However, their possible toxicity and adverse effects convert them into a major health threat for humans and animals. RESULTS: In this study, we employed weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) to identify the co-expressed gene groups and dysregulated pathways due to the MWCNT exposure. For this purpose, three weighted gene co-expression networks for the microarray gene expression profiles of the mouse after 1, 6, and 12-month post-exposure to MWCNT were constructed. The module-trait analysis specified the significant modules related to different doses (1, 10, 40, and 80 µg) of MWCNT. Afterward, common genes between co-regulated and differentially expressed genes were determined. The further pathway analysis highlighted the enrichment of genes including Actb, Ube2b, Psme3, Ezh2, Alas2, S100a10, Ypel5, Rhoa, Rac1, Ube2l6, Prdx2, Ctsb, Bnip3l, Gp6, Myh9, Ube2k, Mbnl1, Kbtbd8, Riok3, Itgb1, Rap1a, and Atp5h in immune-, inflammation-, and protein metabolism-related pathways. CONCLUSIONS: This study discloses the genotoxicity and cytotoxicity effects of various doses of MWCNT which also affect the metabolism system. The identified genes can serve as potential biomarkers and therapeutic candidates. However, further studies should be performed to validate them in human cells.
