RESUMO

In 1990-2006 Tashkent Medical Academy Clinic admitted 71 patients (63 boys and 8 girls) with subtotal and total forms of epispadia which in some cases combined with extrophy of the bladder. Thirty-nine patients of this group were treated with conventional Derzhavin sphynctroplasty with suturing the borders of the pubic symphysis. Urinary incontinence was eliminated partially or completely in 72.3% cases, diastasis of pubic symphasis was not corrected. Thirty two patients were treated with modified Derzhavin sphyncteroplasty and an original technique of symphysis diastasis correction. Good and satisfactory results were obtained in 90.6% patients. X-ray detected no cases of divergence of symphysis 2 months after surgery.

RESUMO

This study examined the results of embolization of the splenic artery (ESA) in 30 children (age ranged from 5 to 14 years) with portal hypertension. Effectiveness of ESA was evaluated by a decrease in spleen size, hypersplenism, disappearance of esophageal varices and improvement in blood count. The results show that chronic embolization of the splenic artery in children is relatively safe and effective surgical treatment for portal hypertension. It lessens portal hypertension, reduces and in some cases eliminates hypersplenism and splenomegaly. Furthermore, being pathogenically sound it may be operation of choice in treatment of chronic hepatitis with portal hypertension and is well tolerated by children.

RESUMO

2765 children with abdominal pains were observed in the clinic of pediatric surgery from 1995 to 1999. During the observation period the abdominal pains persisted in 85 children. As it was not possible to resect the acute abdominal diseases, these children underwent diagnostic laparoscopy. Destructive changes in the appendix were revealed in 12 patients, 73 patients have avoided unnecessary laparotomy and appendectomy. It is concluded that diagnostic potential of laparoscopy is not inferior to diagnostic laparotomy. Moreover laparoscopy has advantage as a method of final diagnosis.
