To explore the combination effects of plasma-activated water and dielectric barrier discharge (PAW-DBD) cold plasma treatment on the formation of volatile flavor and lipid oxidation in Asian sea bass (ASB), the volatile flavor compounds and lipid profiles were characterized by gas chromatography-ion mobility spectrometry and LC-MS-based lipidomics analyses. In total, 38 volatile flavor compound types were identified, and the PAW-DBD group showed the most kinds of volatile components with a significant (p < 0.05) higher content in aldehydes, ketones, and alcohols. A total of 1500 lipids was detected in lipidomics analysis, phosphatidylcholine was the most followed by triglyceride. The total saturated fatty acids content in PAW-DBD group increased by 105.02 µg/g, while the total content of unsaturated fatty acids decreased by 275.36 µg/g. It can be concluded that the PAW-DBD processing increased both the types and amounts of the volatile flavor in ASB and promoted lipid oxidation by altering lipid profiles.

Cold plasma (CP) is a non-thermal preservation technology that has been successfully used to decontaminate and extend the shelf life of aquatic products. However, the preservation effect of CP treatment is determined by several factors, including voltage, time, and gas compositions. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the effects of gas composition (GasA: 10% O2, 50% N2, 40% CO2; GasB: air; GasC: 30% O2, 30% N2, 40% CO2) on the lipid oxidation of tilapia fillets treated after CP treatment. Changes in the lipid oxidation values, the percentages of fatty acids, and sensory scores were studied during 8 d of refrigerator storage. The results showed that the CP treatment significantly increased all the primary and secondary lipid oxidation values measured in this study, as well as the percentages of saturated fatty acids, but decreased the percentages of unsaturated fatty acids, especially polyunsaturated fatty acids. The lipid oxidation values were significantly increased in the GasC-CP group. After 8 d, clearly increased percentages of saturated fatty acids, a low level of major polyunsaturated fatty acids (especially linoleic (C18:2n-6)), and a decrease in the percentages of eicosapentaenoic acid (C20:5n-3) and docosahexaenoic acid (C22:6n-3) were found in GasC-CP; that is, the serious oxidation of lipids was found in the high O2 concentration group. In addition, the sensory score was also lower than that of the hypoxia CP group. Therefore, high O2 concentrations can enhance lipid oxidation and the changes in the fatty acid concentration. Controlling the O2 concentration is reasonable to limit the degree to which lipids are oxidized in tilapia after the in-package CP treatment.

A lipidomics approach based on liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry was employed to investigate alterations in lipid profiles within the muscles of Asian sea bass (ASB) (Lates calcarifer) post-treatment with plasms-activated water (PAW). Lipidomics studies detected 1500 diverse lipid types in ASB muscles; the phosphatidylcholine (PC) lipid subclass constituted the highest number of lipids (21.07 %), followed by triglycerides (TGs, 20.53 %) and phosphatidylethanolamine (PE, 12.73 %). Comparative analysis between PAW-treated ASB and raw ASB revealed the presence of differentially abundant lipids, with 48 lipids accumulating at high levels and 92 at low levels. Pathway enrichment analysis identified a total of seven lipid-related metabolic pathways; glycerophospholipid metabolism emerged as the predominant pathway. Furthermore, the content of saturated fatty acids in PAW-treated ASB increased from 1059.81 µg/g (raw ASB) to 1099.77 µg/g. Conversely, the content of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids decreased from 645.81 µg/g and 875.02 µg/g to 640.80 µg/g and 825.25 µg/g, respectively. Collectively, these results indicate significant alterations in ASB lipid profiles following PAW treatment, establishing a theoretical foundation for understanding the mechanism involved in promoting lipid oxidation.

A comprehensive LC-MS-based lipidomics analysis of Asian sea bass (Lates calcarifer) muscle after dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) atmospheric plasma treatment was performed. Through the analysis, 1500 lipid species were detected, phosphatidylcholine (PC, 27.80%) was the most abundant lipid, followed by triglyceride (TG, 20.50%) and phosphatidylethanolamine (PE, 17.10%). Among them, 125 lipid species were detected and identified as differentially abundant lipids in Asian sea bass (ASB). PCA and OPLS-DA showed that ASB lipids changed significantly after DBD treatment. Moreover, glycerophospholipid metabolism was key metabolic pathways, as PC, PE, and lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) were key lipid metabolites. The findings concerning fatty acids revealed that the saturated fatty acids (SFA) content of ASB after DBD treatment increased by 8.54%, while the content of monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) and polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) decreased by 13.77% and 9.16%, respectively. Our study establishes a foundation for the lipid oxidation mechanism of ASB following DBD treatment.

BACKGROUND: Cold plasma exhibits broad applicability in the realm of fish sterilization and preservation. The combination process of plasma-activated water and dielectric barrier discharge (PAW-DBD) was optimized, and its disinfection effects on bass fillets were studied. RESULTS: The best conditions for disinfection of PAW-DBD were as follows. Bass fillets were soaked in PAW for 150 s, and then treated by DBD system at 160 kV for 180 s. The total viable count (TVC) reduced by 1.68 log CFU g-1 . On the 15th day of refrigerated storage, TVC of PAW-DBD group was 7.01 log CFU g-1 , while the PAW and DBD group exhibited a TVC of 7.02 and 7.01 log CFU g-1 on day 12; the TVC of the control group was 7.13 log CFU g-1 on day 6. The sensory score, water-holding capacity, and 2-thiobarbituric acid reactive substance values of the PAW-DBD group were significantly higher than those of PAW and DBD group (P < 0.05), whereas the TVC, Pseudomonas spp. count, and pH of the group were significantly lower (P < 0.05) during refrigerated storage. CONCLUSION: PAW-DBD treatment can enhance the disinfection effect, maintain good quality, and extend the storage period of bass fillets. © 2023 Society of Chemical Industry.

Objective: To explore the influence of negative psychology and burnout in clinical nurses, and to analyse the mediating role between self-efficacy and emotional intelligence in emotion management. Methods: From January 2022 to December 2022, 12,704 clinical nurses from 32 general hospitals in Hunan Province were selected as research participants by convenience sampling. Negative psychology, emotion management, self-efficacy, emotional intelligence and burnout in clinical nurses were measured, and structural equation models were constructed to explore their impact on burnout in clinical nurses. Results: Clinical nurses' negative psychology had a positive effect on burnout (ß=0.60, 95% CI: 0.63-0.66), emotional intelligence (ß=-0.08, 95% CI: -0.10, -0.06) and the self-efficacy of emotion management (ß=-0.60, 95% CI: -0.05, -0.03) on burnout. Moreover, emotional intelligence and emotion management self-efficacy played a mediating role between negative psychology and burnout in nurses. Conclusion: Clinical nurses' negative psychology had a positive impact on burnout, and emotional intelligence and the self-efficacy of emotion management could alleviate the influence of negative psychology on burnout among nurses. Nurses' emotional intelligence and emotion management self-efficacy can be improved through practical training to help them cope with emotionally loaded situations and reduce stress responses.

OBJECTIVE: To search and evaluate the literatures on the application of mechanical insufflation-exsufflation technique (MI-E) in patients with invasive mechanical ventilation in China and abroad, and to summarize the best evidence to provide evidence-based basis for clinical practice. METHODS: The literatures related to the use of MI-E technique in invasive mechanical ventilation patients were searched from the establishment of the database to April 1, 2022 in BMJ Best Practice, UpToDate Clinical Advisor, Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN), Guidelines International Network (GIN), National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), National Guideline Clearinghouse (NGC), Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO), medlive, Cochrane Library, Joana Briggs Instiute, Web of Science, PubMed, Embase, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL), SinoMed, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Database, China Science and Technology Journal Database, and Website of American Association for Respiratory Care, including guideline, expert consensus, clinical decision, evidence summary, systematic review and randomized controlled trial. The JBI Center for Evidence-Based Health Care Expert Consensus Evaluation Criteria (2016) was used to evaluate the quality of the included systematic reviews; the JBI Center for Evidence-Based Health Care Evaluation Criteria for Randomized Controlled Trials was used to evaluate the quality of the included randomized controlled trial. Two researchers independently evaluated the quality of literature, and extracted and summarized the evidence based on professional judgment. RESULTS: A total of 7 literatures were enrolled, including 3 systematic reviews and 4 randomized controlled trials. After quality evaluation, 7 articles were all enrolled. Thirteen best evidences were formed from four aspects of indications, contraindications, parameter settings, and attention. CONCLUSIONS: The study summarizes the best evidence for the application of MI-E technique in invasive mechanical ventilation patients. It is recommended that medical staff undergo professional training, combined with their professional judgment as well as the patient's clinical specific conditions and willingness, and accurately apply MI-E technology to invasive mechanical ventilation patients.

In order to investigate the effects of high voltage atmospheric cold plasma (HVACP) treatment on the number of microorganisms in and the quality of Trachinotus ovatus during refrigerator storage, fresh fish was packaged with gases CO2:O2:N2 (80%:10%:10%) and treated by HVACP at 75 kV for 3 min; then, the samples were stored at 4 ± 1 °C for nine days. The microbial numbers, water content, color value, texture, pH value, thiobarbituric acid reactive substance (TBARS), and total volatile base nitrogen (TVB-N) values of the fish were analyzed during storage. The results showed the growth of the total viable bacteria (TVB), psychrophilic bacteria, Pseudomonas spp., H2S-producing bacteria, yeast, and lactic acid bacteria in the treated samples was limited, and they were 1.11, 1.01, 1.04, 1.13, 0.77, and 0.80 log CFU/g-1 lower than those in the control group after nine days of storage, respectively. The hardness, springiness, and chewiness of the treated fish decreased slowly as the storage time extended, and no significant changes in either pH or water content were found. The lightness (L*) value increased and the yellowness (b*) value decreased after treatment, while no changes in the redness (a*) value were found. The TBARS and TVB-N of the treated samples increased to 0.79 mg/kg and 21.99 mg/100 g, respectively, after nine days of refrigerator storage. In conclusion, HVACP can limit the growth of the main microorganisms in fish samples effectively during nine days of refrigerator storage with no significant negative impact on their quality. Therefore, HVACP is a useful nonthermal technology to extend the refrigerator shelf-life of Trachinotus ovatus.

Fresh tilapia fillets are susceptible to perish due to the microbial contamination during storage. High voltage atmospheric cold plasma (HVACP), a non-thermal technology, can effectively inactivate various microorganism. The aim of this study was to identify the microorganism amount and diversity changes of fresh tilapia fillets during refrigerator storage after HVACP treatment. Samples were treated at 70 kV for 1, 3 and 5 min by dielectric discharge barrier (DBD) cold plasma then stored at 4 °C. During the storage, amounts of Total viable bacteria (TVB), Psychrophilic bacteria, Pseudomonas spp., Lactic acid bacteria, Enterobacteriaceae, H2S-producing bacteria were measured, and microbial diversity of samples was analyzed. Long treatment time showed a great reduction effect on amounts of all bacteria. When tilapia fillets were treated at 70 kV for 5 min and stored for 12 d, amounts of TVB, Pseudomonas spp. and Enterobacteriaceae were 7.15, 6.99 and 4.23 log CFU/g, respectively, which were significantly lower (P < 0.05) than those in control group. High-throughput sequencing results showed that microbial diversity of tilapia fillets treated by HVACP was fluctuated as storage time extend, microbial species richness was decreased during first two days, and increased to the peak till 9 d, then decreased again. The dominant bacteria in fresh samples were Acinetobacter, Macrococcus, Pseudomonas, and Lactococcus. The abundance of both Acinetobacter and Macrococcus were decreased gradually during storage, while the abundance of Lactococcus was increased at first 3 d then decreased. After 12 d of storage, the dominant bacteria were transformed into Pseudomonas, Arthrobacter, and Kurthia.
