RESUMO
Evidence-based medicine is the application of high-quality research findings to treatment decisions, utilizing practitioner expertise and taking into account patient variability and preference. Key elements necessary for successful evidence-based decision making are clinical guidelines and outcomes monitoring. Outcomes focus on measuring the result of actions taken, not on the processes used to obtain the result. Common outcomes monitors include survival, morbidity, patient satisfaction, and patient quality of life.
