RESUMO

Three strains, YP416 T , YP421 T, and Y422, were isolated from soil samples in Pocheon City, Gyeonggi province, South Korea. The strains belong to two novel yeast species in the genus Mrakia. Molecular phylogenetic analysis showed that the strain YP416 T was closely related to Mrakia niccombsii. Still, it differed by 9 nucleotide substitutions with no gap (1.51%) in the D1/D2 domain of the LSU rRNA gene and 14 nucleotide substitutions with 7 gaps (2.36%) in the ITS region. The strain YP421 T differed from the type strain of the most closely related species, Mrakia aquatica, by 5 nucleotide substitutions with no gap (0.81%) in the D1/D2 domain of the LSU rRNA gene and 9 nucleotide substitutions with one gap (1.43%) in the ITS region. The names Mrakia terrae sp. nov. and Mrakia soli sp. nov. are proposed, with type strains YP416 T (KCTC 27886 T ) and YP421 T (KCTC 27890 T ), respectively. MycoBank numbers of the strains YP416 T and YP421 T are MB 836844 and MB 836847, respectively.

RESUMO

A novel Gram-stain-positive, motile, white color and endospore-forming bacterium, designated 18JY67-1T, was isolated from soil in Jeju Island, Korea. The strain grow at 15-42 °C (optimum 30 °C) in R2A medium at pH (6.0-9.5) (optimum 7.5). Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain 18JY67-1T formed a distinct lineage within the family Paenibacillaceae (order Bacillales, class Bacilli), and was closely related to Paenibacillus rhizoryzae (KP675984; 96.9% 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity). The major cellular fatty acids of the strain 18JY67-1T were C16:0 and anteiso-C15:0. The predominant respiratory quinones were MK-7. The major polar lipid was identified as diphosphatidylglycerol. On the basis of phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and genotypic properties clearly indicated that isolate 18JY67-1T represents a novel species within the genus Paenibacillus, for which the name Paenibacillus flavus sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain of Paenibacillus flavus is 18JY67-1T (= KCTC 33959T = JCM 33184T).

RESUMO

Two Gram-positive-staining, endospore-forming, rod-shaped, motile bacteria, strains DCY35(T) and C17, were isolated from soil of a ginseng field in South Korea and were characterized in order to determine their taxonomic positions. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed that the two strains belonged to the family Paenibacillaceae; strain DCY35(T) showed highest levels of similarity to strain C17 (99.9 %), Brevibacillus invocatus LMG 18962(T) (98.9 %), B. centrosporus DSM 8445(T) (98.0 %), B. borstelensis DSM 6347(T) (97.6 %), B. formosus DSM 9885(T) (97.4 %), B. agri DSM 6348(T) (97.3 %), B. brevis DSM 30(T) (97.3 %) and B. levickii LMG 22481(T) (97.0 %). Chemotaxonomic analyses revealed that strains DCY35(T) and C17 possess menaquinone MK-7, common to members of the genus Brevibacillus, and that the predominant fatty acids were iso-C(15 : 0) (37.3 % of the total), anteiso-C(15 : 0) (32.9 %), iso-C(14 : 0) (11.8 %) and iso-C(16 : 0) (6.5 %). The results of physiological and biochemical tests clearly demonstrated that strains DCY35(T) and C17 represent a distinct species. Based on these data, the two strains are considered to represent a novel species of the genus Brevibacillus, for which the name Brevibacillus panacihumi sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is DCY35(T) (=KCTC 13206(T) =JCM 15085(T)).
