RESUMO

The investigations were carried out on 20 men (aged 32-48), hospitalized after lower extremity fractures, in whom no systemic diseases or disorders were found. The activity of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6P-DH), aldolase (A1), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and the concentrations of pyruvate, lactate, nicotinamide-adenine dinucleotide (NAD), nicotinamideadenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP), adenosine-5'-triphosphate (ATP), adenosine-5'-diphosphate (ADP), adenosine -5'-monophosphate (AMP) and 2,3-diphosphoglycerate (2,3-DPG) in erythrocytes taken from patients were estimated. After a two-week hypokinesia G6P-DH, A1, LDH activities and ATP, ADP, AMP concentrations decreased, whereas other estimated parameters did not differ from the control levels. During a 30-day hypokinesia of patients with fractures of the lower extremity a transient decrease of erythrocyte metabolic activity was observed after two weeks. off

RESUMO

The mutagenicity of three sulfides--sulfur yperites--was investigated in vitro by a method of chromosome structural aberrations and sister chromatid exchange (SCE) on metaphasic chromosomes of the peripheral blood. The study demonstrated a relatively low mutagenicity of 2-chloroethyl-3-chloropropyl sulfide and permitted initiation of clinical investigation of this compound as a potential antipsoriatic agent.

RESUMO

The authors studied the effects of gamma radiation and submaximal physical exercise on aldolase activity in healthy men erythrocytes. Twelve men aged 20-22 were examined. They underwent physical exercise at doses of 2 W/kg body weight for 15 minutes. Erythrocytes were exposed to gamma radiation (500 Gy doses) from 60Co source. The activity of aldolase in erythrocytes was estimated by Fermognost test. The submaximal physical exercise was indicated to increase the aldolase activity. Gamma radiation at 500 Gy dose was found to increase aldolase enzymatic activity in erythrocytes both a rest and after submaximal physical exercise.

RESUMO

The level of lipid peroxides was significantly increased in the blood of patients with Down's syndrome. In erythrocytes increased activities of superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase were confirmed while catalase activity was similar to that of healthy controls. The concentration of selenium in erythrocytes of Down's syndrome patients was reduced, in spite of increased glutathione peroxidase activity. These results confirm the hypothesis of an altered oxidative metabolism in Down's syndrome.

RESUMO

The authors studied effects of gamma radiation and submaximal physical exercise on G6P-DH activity in healthy men erythrocytes. Twelve men aged 20-22 were examined. They were loaded by physical exercise (at doses of 2 W/kg body weight) for 15 minutes. Erythrocytes were exposed to gamma radiation (500 Gy doses) from 60Co source. The activity of G6P-DH in erythrocytes was estimated by Boehringer-Mannheim test. Gamma radiation at 500 Gy dose was found to inhibit G6P-DH enzymatic activity in erythrocytes both at rest and after submaximal physical exercise. Furthermore, submaximal physical exercise was indicated to increase the G6P-DH activity in irradiated erythrocytes.
