RESUMO
Lipopeptides on the basis of L-glutamic acid and glutamine di- and monoesters with aliphatic alcohols of various lengths that contain L-arginine, L-ornithine, and L-lysine were synthesized. The behavior of these amphiphiles in aqueous medium was shown to depend on their structure.

New O- and S-glycosylated derivatives of pyropheophorbide a were synthesized in the context of the design of photosensitizers for photodynamic cancer therapy. The resulting amphiphilic conjugates were found to be sufficiently water-soluble and suitable for the study of the photosensitizer penetration and accumulation in tumors.

New pheophorbide and pyropheophorbide derivatives containing carbohydrate fragments, derivatives of galactopyranose, were synthesized. Galactopyranosylpheophorbide and galactopyranosylpyropheophorbide with free hydroxyl groups were found to be water-soluble and useful as sensitizers in photodynamic therapy of cancer.

Reviewed are the modern state and prospects of using lipid-porphyrin assemblies and lipoporphyrins to study fine functional mechanisms of complex biological systems and to solve applied problems in biochemistry and medicine. Data on the interaction of porphyrin derivatives with natural and artificial membranes are summarized. Models for electron transfer and oxygen transport via lipid-porphyrin assemblies are discussed.

Using alpha- and beta-forms of the non-ionic detergent octyl glucoside the conditions have been developed for treatment of influenza virus and Sendai virus suspensions with the purpose of solubilization from virions of exclusively surface glycoproteins. Both alpha- and beta-forms of the detergent have been shown to have similar effectiveness for the recovery of chromatographically pure preparations of surface glycoproteins.
