RESUMO

The morphological ontogeny of Carinogalumna erciyesi sp. nov. from Turkey is described and illustrated. The adult of this species is most similar to that of C. montana Engelbrecht, 1973 but differs from it mainly by the shape of the bothridial seta and porose areas Aa and A2. The larva of C. erciyesi has 12 pairs of gastronotal setae, including alveolar h3, nymphs have 15 pairs; most setae are of medium size and barbed, except for short p2 and p3, smooth in protonymph; setae p2 and p3 are inserted on unsclerotized integument. In all juveniles the bothridial seta is clavate with long, narrow, barbed head. The gastronotal shield is well-developed with setae of d-, l-series and h1 in the larva, and of d-, l-, h-series and p1 in the nymphs. Setae of c-series of juveniles are inserted on microsclerites, and genital opening is placed on a large sclerite. In all juveniles a humeral organ is present, with porose area above it.

RESUMO

The morphological ontogeny of Nanhermannia sellnicki Forsslund, 1958 is described and illustrated. In all juvenile stages the bothridial seta is minute, and two pairs of exobothridial setae are present (exa reduced to its alveolus, exp short). In the larva, the seta f1 is setiform but in the nymphs it is unobservable among cuticular tubercles. Most prodorsal and gastronotal setae of the larva are short while thouse of nymphs are long; seta in and all gastronotal and adanal setae are inserted in small individual depressions. In all instars the leg segments are oval in cross section and relatively thick, and most setae on tarsi are relatively short, thick or conical. The seta d accompanies solenidion on all genua, 1 on tibia I and on other tibiae.

RESUMO

The morphological ontogeny of Oribatula heterochaeta (Feider et al., 1970) is described and illustrated. The larva of this species has 12 pairs of gastronotal setae including h3 and the nymphs have 15 pairs; most are of medium size and barbed except for short and smooth h3 in the larva and p3 in the protonymph and deutonymph. In the larva, the excentrosclerites are present at four pairs of gastronotal setae (c2, la, lp, h1), and in the nymphs at seven pairs (c2, la, lp, h-series, p1). Comparisons of known morphological ontogeny of species in Oribatula are given.

RESUMO

The morphological ontogeny of Zachvatkinibates svanhovdi A. Seniczak & S. Seniczak, 2023 is described and illustrated. The juveniles of this species are light brown with slightly darker colour on the prodorsum, gastronotal shield, surrounding of gla opening, and legs. The larva has 12 pairs of gastronotal setae, most are of medium size and barbed; the nymphs have 15 pairs, most are short and smooth. In all juveniles, the setae of c-series are inserted on unsclerotized integument. In the larva, the pygidial shield is absent but, in the nymphs, the gastronotal shield is present and the setae p2 and p3 are inserted on unsclerotized integument. In the larva, a humeral organ is absent but is present in the nymphs.

RESUMO

The morphological ontogeny of Ceratozetes parvulus Sellnick, 1922 is described and illustrated. Some aspects of its ecology are also investigated. The juveniles of this species have short prodorsal and gastronotal setae, tubercles and transverse folds on the gastronotum and setiform bothridial seta. Most leg setae are short, thick and strongly reduced (lack of setae l on femur III of deutonymph and tritonymph, pl on tarsus I, it on all tarsi, and pv on tarsus IV of nymphs), which are unique in Ceratozetes Berlese, 1908. This species is common in peatlands, where it seems to prefer specifically drier microhabitats, like hummocks.

RESUMO

Morphological ontogeny of Oribatella similesuperbula Weigmann, 2001 based on specimens from Romania, is described and illustrated. The nymphs of this species are apopheredermous, i.e. they carry the exuvial scalps of previous instars away from the dorsal integument, using modified setal pair da. The prodorsal and most gastronotal setae of juveniles are long and barbed, except for medium sized h2 and minute h3 in the larva, and medium sized c1, p2 and p3 in the nymphs. The larva has 12 pairs of gastronotal setae, the nymphs have 15 pairs. In all juveniles, a humeral organ is present.

RESUMO

The morphological ontogeny of Perlohmannia nasuta Schuster, 1958 is described and illustrated. The adult of this species is the most similar to that of P. dissimilis (Hewitt, 1908), but differs from it by having alveolar seta exp (versus setiform in P. dissimilis), which is unique in Perlohmannia Berlese, 1916. It also has more spines on the bothridial seta and shorter seta c1 than has P. dissimilis. The juveniles of P. nasuta have the prodorsal seta exp alveolar, 78 anterior spines on the bothridial seta, and seta e2 longer than f2. Clapardes organ of larva is long and cudgel-shaped. This species differs clearly from P. dissimilis in the ontogeny of leg setae. In both species, hypertrichy occurs on tarsi, especially on tarsus I, but P. nasuta has more setae on tarsus I of deutonymph, tritonymph and adult than has P. dissimilis.
