RESUMO

The activity of Na+, K+, Mg2+-ATPase in plasma membranes of the rat liver was studied as affected by thiamine, oxythiamine and food B1-avitaminosis. It is shown that the ATPase activity of the liver plasma membranes is inhibited only in case of modelling the alimentary thiamine deficiency.

RESUMO

The properties of the membrane-bound succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) of rat liver mitochondria were studied in the presence of thiamine excess and deficiency in the body. In acute oxythiamine B1-avitaminosis, the content of phosphatidyl choline in the mitochondria fell and SDH activity was suppressed. After incubation of such mitochondria with a sonicated phospholipid emulsion from egg yolk the activity of the enzyme virtually returned to control values. Incubation of the mitochondria from control rats and animals given thiamine contained by phospholipid emulsion did not affect SDH activity.

RESUMO

Single administration of thiamin at a high dose (40 mg) 100 g of body weight into rats led to an increase in content of phospholipids in liver plasmatic membranes; cholesterol and the ratio between phospholipid fractions were unaltered. Maintaining of rats on a rice diet (dietary B1-avitaminosis) as well as a single administration of hydroxythiamin into animals at doses 10 mg and 40 mg per 100 g of body weight did not affect the content of cholesterol and phospholipids in liver plasmatic membranes. At the same time, the ratio of the phospholipid fraction was altered in plasmatic membranes: in dietary B1-avitaminosis content of lecithin was decreased and the content of lysolecithin was increased, high of hydroxythiamin decreased the content of sphingomyelin. Hydroxythiamin at a dose of 10 mg/kg of body weight did not affect these patterns.

RESUMO

The influence of different methods of simulating B1 avitaminosis on the lipids of the erythrocytes membranes was studied. The greatest changes were found to occur in alimentary B1 avitaminosis. Then, in all the age populations of erythrocytes the cholesterol content decreases, in membranes of old and young erythrocytes the amount of cardiolipine rises, while in the mature ones the sphingomyelin level goes up. In a dose of 40 mg/100 g body weight oxythiamine forces down the cholesterol content in the "shadows" of old and mature erythrocytes and brings down the amount of lecithin in young cells. In a dose of 10 mg/100 g oxythiamine lowers the cholesterol level only in the membranes of mature erythrocytes. In these conditions the total phospholipids in the red blood cells remains unchanged.
