RESUMO

The microstructural characteristics of the leaf of Rhododendron ponticum L., an alternative source of biologically active compounds - constituents of the antiherpetic ointment Rhodopes, were studied. The study resulted in the establishment of the sustainable diagnostic characteristics of Rh. ponticum L. leaf. The leaf is naked, double-sided, hypostomatic, with dorsoventral structure of mesophyll; the conductive system represents a vascular fibrous, reverse collateral structure. Druze crystals of calcium oxalate are found in the pulp of the leaf. The underlying cells of the adiaxial and abaxial leaf epidermis are uneven, oblong and curved. The robustness of the main vascular bundle is determined by increased amount of mechanical cells - collenchyma, layer of sclerenchyma cells and xylem fibers. In the phloem, differentiation of secretory channels is visible; the lumen of the wood conducting vessels is rounded, with a spirally thickened inner shell; radial rays are short, single-layered.

RESUMO

The aim of the study was a preliminary study of plant samples collected by targeted expeditions of the department of pharmacobotany (Department of Phytochemistry) of the IG Kutateladze Institute of Pharmacochemistry for the period 2016-2017. In total, 341 objects from (106 various) plants belonging to 36 families and 93 genus were analyzed. The objects were obtained polar and non-polar fractions; flavonoids and triterpenoids were found in them qualitatively. To characterize used P /CH and TLC analysis in various solvent systems. Flavonoids were isolated from Geranium ibericum and Polygonum carneum, which were identified as quercetin-3-0-ß-D-galactopyranoside-hyperin (G. ibericum), 3 5, 7 ', 3'.4' pentahydroxy-flavone - quercetin (G. ibericum, P. сarneum) and quercetin-3-0-rutinozide - rutin (P. сarneum). G. ibericum and P.carneum flora of Georgia are found and studied for the first time. Representatives of the family Asteraceae, Fabaceae, Helleboraceae, Polygonaceae, Scrophula riaceae deserve a particular interest in the content of triterpenoids.

RESUMO

The antioxidant activity of extracts obtained from different parts of Georgian flora species Hamamelis virginiana L., Astragalus caucasicus Pall., Astragalus microcephalus Willd., Vitis vinifera L., Rhododendron ponticum L., Rhododendron Ungernii Trautv., Ginkgo biloba L., Salvia officinalis L., Querqus iberica Stev., Maclura aurantiaca Nutt., Cotinus coggygria Ledeb., Fraxinus ornus L., Urtica dioica L., Rhododendron caucasicum Pall., Pueraria hirsuta Matsum., Geranium pusillum L., Astragalus Tanae Sosn., Pinus silvestris L. has been studied. Comparison with ethylentetraacetate and α-tocopherole revealed high efficacy of all extracts studied. 45 individual phenolic compounds were isolated and described by chemical examination of biologically active objects. Common sage (Salvia officinalis) extract turned out as the most active (200 %). The chemical study revealed the dominant content of condensed tannins and low molecular phenolic compounds, which may be attributed to the high antioxidant activity. Biologically active antiatherosclerotic food additive "Salbin" was developed on the basis of Common sage - Salvia officinalis L. phenolic compounds.

RESUMO

A chemical investigation of plant Rhododendron ungernii revealed that its leaves are rich in phenolic compounds: flavonoids, catechins and leucoanthocyanidins. An ointment for external application containing 5% of crude phenolic compounds from R.ungernii leaves named Rodopes, was developed at the I. Kutatateladze Institute of Pharmacochemistry and approved for treatment of various forms of herpetic disease. Wound healing potential of Rodopes was investigated in an excision wound model in mice. Faster wound closure of excision wounds in Rodopes-treated animals in comparison with untreated controls due to the increased wound contracting ability, wound closure time, and regeneration of tissues at wound site was observed. Treatment with Rodopes in an animal model of wound healing caused the increased infiltration of macrophages, neutrophils, and fibroblasts in the wound bed compared to untreated wounds. Moreover, Rodopes exhibited the ability to accelerate scab rejection and full reepithelization in test wounds with no signs of bacterial contamination and to form smooth soft scars disappearing in just 1-2 days. We suggest that Rodopes ointment can find application in the treatment of wounds which require quick coverage of skin epithelial layers.

RESUMO

There was created new medical form of antiviral reparation Rodopes that surpassed previous forms - Rodopes adhesive ointment and Rodopes ointment - and also traditional preparations Zovirax and Interferon with its increased therapeutic effectiveness. Rodopes polymer films are much more comfortable way of clinical usage and can be successfully and widely used in stomatological practice.

RESUMO

Open randomized 2-year trial has been performed to analyze effectiveness of Unguentum of a hesperidin developed by us for the treatment of recurrent aphthous stomatitis. 80 patients with recurrent aphthous stomatitis in the age from 15 till 60 years from the contingent of the polyclinic of the veterans of Tbilisi were studied. After inclusion of the preparation into the treatment the pain and duration of inflammatory process have been decreased; the complications were not observed. In the group of patients getting treatment with hesperidin, frequency of unsatisfactory outcomes decreased significantly (chi(2)=9,8, p < 0,05). Reduction of relative risk of unsatisfactory outcomes was about 0,8 (95% CI: 0,29-0,86), reduction of absolute risk - 0,33 (95% CI: 0,13-0,52). It may be concluded that application of a preparation may be considered as one of the options for the treatment of recurrent aphthous stomatitis.
