RESUMO

Correlations between clinical variants of neurodermatitis course and patients' lymphocyte sensitivity to histamine are analyzed. The atopic form is associated with high lymphocyte sensitivity to histamine. Administration of H-1 antihistaminic agents to these patients is not always justified. Antihistaminic drugs should be prescribed to neurodermatitis patients with due consideration for the individual sensitivity of patient's lymphocytes to histamine.

RESUMO

It has been demonstrated in experiments that histamine is capable of suppressing the antigen-induced proliferation of mouse spleen cells. This histamine effect was suppressed by its H-2 antagonist metiamide but not H-1 antagonist mepiramine. Carnosine exerted an action similar to metiamide, also inhibiting the histamine-caused suppression of murine lymphocyte proliferation. This makes it possible to classify it with the group of H-2-histamine blockers. The H-2-antihistamine properties exhibited by carnosine necessitate its further study as a new antiallergic drug.

RESUMO

It was found that carnosine, like metiamide, an H-2 antagonist of histamine, is capable of inhibiting the histamine caused suppression of T rosette-formation by guinea-pig blood and spleen lymphocytes. The other histidine derivatives, imidazole lactate, imidazole pyruvate and N-acetyl histidine did not exhibit such properties. The data obtained allow classifying carnosine with H-2-histamine blockers and serve as one of the explanations of the mechanism of its antiallergic action.
