RESUMO

Despite advancements in therapeutic techniques, restoring bone tissue after damage remains a challenging task. Tissue engineering or targeted drug delivery solutions aim to meet the pressing clinical demand for treatment alternatives by creating substitute materials that imitate the structural and biological characteristics of healthy tissue. Polymers derived from natural sources typically exhibit enhanced biological compatibility and bioactivity when compared to manufactured polymers. Chitosan is a unique polysaccharide derived from chitin through deacetylation, offering biodegradability, biocompatibility, and antibacterial activity. Its cationic charge sets it apart from other polymers, making it a valuable resource for various applications. Modifications such as thiolation, alkylation, acetylation, or hydrophilic group incorporation can enhance chitosan's swelling behavior, cross-linking, adhesion, permeation, controllable drug release, enzyme inhibition, and antioxidative properties. Chitosan scaffolds possess considerable potential for utilization in several biological applications. An intriguing application is its use in the areas of drug distribution and bone tissue engineering. Due to their excellent biocompatibility and lack of toxicity, they are an optimal material for this particular usage. This article provides a comprehensive analysis of osteoporosis, including its pathophysiology, current treatment options, the utilization of natural polymers in disease management, and the potential use of chitosan scaffolds for drug delivery systems aimed at treating the condition.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Pneumoconiosis mostly combines pulmonary and cardiovascular diseases, among which pulmonary heart disease (PHD) is of major concern due to its significant impact on the survival of pneumoconiosis patients. White cell count (WCC), red cell distribution width (RDW) and platelet parameters are thought to affect inflammatory responses and may be predictors of various cardiovascular diseases. However, very few studies have focused on PHD. OBJECTIVES: To examine the relationship between baseline complete blood count parameters (WCC, RDW, platelet parameters) and the risk of incident PHD in pneumoconiosis patients. DESIGN: A retrospective cohort study. SETTING: This was a single-centre, retrospective cohort study that used data from an Occupational Disease Hospital, Chengdu, Sichuan. PARTICIPANTS: A total of 946 pneumoconiosis patients from January 2012 to November 2021 were included in the study. Female patients and patients who had PHD, coronary heart disease, hypertensive heart disease, cardiomyopathy, heart failure, oncological disease, multiple organ dysfunction, AIDS at baseline and follow-up time of less than 6 months were also excluded. OUTCOME MEASURES: We identified PHD according to the patient's discharge diagnosis. We constructed Cox proportional hazard regression models to assess the HR of incident PHD in pneumoconiosis, as well as 95% CIs. RESULTS: In the multiple Cox proportional hazard regression analysis, platelet count (PLT) and plateletcrit (PCT) above the median at baseline were associated with an increased risk of PHD in pneumoconiosis with adjusted HR of 1.52 (95% CI 1.09 to 2.12) and 1.42 (95% CI 1.02 to 1.99), respectively. CONCLUSION: Higher baseline PLT and PCT are associated with a higher risk of PHD in pneumoconiosis.

RESUMO

Spectrally discriminating CH3OH and CD3OD, and even detecting CH3OH contents in the CD3OD solvent, are important yet have not been achieved so far, likely owing to their very similar chemical/physical properties. Herein, dynamic transesterification reactions, which can be achieved via two-step proton transfers, can be signaled via ultraviolet UV-visible (UV/vis) absorption and fluorescence spectroscopies under mild experimental conditions. Introduction of strong electron-withdrawing groups, such as -NO2, to the aromatic ring (benzoic acid moiety or phenol moiety) of carboxylate esters to activate the esters is important for transesterification reactions and is an intriguing method for modulating the selectivity of the spectral response. The rate constant of the transesterification reaction enhanced with increasing the total number of strong electron-withdrawing groups. Furthermore, the rate constants of esters in which substituent(s) are connected to the phenol moiety are higher than those of corresponding esters in which substituent(s) are connected to the benzoic acid moiety. In transesterification systems, added aliphatic amines mainly play two roles: (i) lowering the energy barrier of the first transesterification step via the formation of intermolecular hydrogen bonding in ternary systems and (ii) deprotonating the released 4-nitrophenol in UV/vis absorption spectral systems to generate an UV/vis absorption spectral signal reporter, i.e., nitrophenolate anions. As a result of the methanol-mediated transesterification reaction, spectral-sensing systems can be established for discriminating CH3OH and CD3OD and even detecting low CH3OH contents in the CD3OD solvent, owing to the kinetic isotope effect. This is the first example of spectral recognition between CD3OD and CH3OH.

RESUMO

Objective: To compare the clinical efficacy of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) combined with laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) and laparoscopic common bile duct exploration and lithotomy (LCBDE) in the treatment of cholecystolithiasis combined with bile duct stones. Methods: From September 2018 to January 2022, 195 patients with cholecystolithiasis complicated with extrahepatic bile duct stones from Department of Department of General Surgery, Shanghai Jiading Central Hospital met the inclusion criteria, including 60 cases in the LC group and 86 cases in the LCBDE group. The general condition, operation success rate, complications and residual stone rate of the two groups were retrospectively analyzed. Results: In the simultaneous operation group, 58 patients successfully performed ERCP, and the indwelling rate of the abdominal drainage tube (41.7 % vs. 95.3 %) was significantly better than that in the LCBDE group. There was no significant difference in the conversion rate to open surgery, operation time, and intraoperative blood loss between the two groups. In the simultaneous surgery group, 4 patients (6.7 %) developed pancreatitis after ERCP, which was cured by conservative treatment. The pain score at 6 h after operation was significantly lower than that in the LCBDE group (3.9 ± 1.6 vs 6.5 ± 2.4). There were no significant differences in biliary leakage (1.7 % vs. 4.7 %), postoperative cholangitis (5.0 % vs. 5.8 %), incision infection (3.3 % vs. 3.5 %), and bile duct stone residue rate (5.0 % vs 3.5 %) between the two groups. There was no severe pancreatitis, second operation or death. The duration of hospital stay was shortened in the concurrent operation group (5.1 ± 2.3d vs 7.9 ± 3.7d), and the operation cost was significantly higher than that in the LCBDE group (48839.9 ± 8549.5 vs 34635.9 ± 5893.7 yuan). Conclusion: ERCP combined with LC and LCBDE are both safe and effective methods for the treatment of cholecystolithiasis combined with extrahepatic bile duct stones. The simultaneous operation group has certain advantages in patient comfort and rapid rehabilitation, which can be popularized in qualified units.

RESUMO

Introduction: Angle-closure glaucoma is a common type of glaucoma in Asian populations. However, the role of inflammatory cytokines in angle-closure glaucoma is yet to be elucidated. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the expression of interleukin-4 (IL-4) and IL-12 in the aqueous humor of patients with chronic primary angle-closure glaucoma (CPACG) and elucidate the correlations between IL-4 and IL-12 concentrations in the aqueous humor, the degree of visual field defects, and retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness in patients with CPACG. Methods: Aqueous humor samples were obtained from 31 patients diagnosed with CPACG at the Shaoxing People's Hospital between April 2022 and March 2023 and from 30 individuals with cataract (control). Based on the degree of the mean defect (MD), patients were divided into three groups: group A (MD ≤ -6dB, n= 10), group B (-6dB< MD< -12dB, n= 9), and group C (MD ≥ - 12dB, n= 12). RNFL thickness was measured using an optical coherence tomograph, and the concentrations of IL-4 and IL-12 in the aqueous humor were measured using Luminex technology. Results: Aqueous humor concentration of IL-4 was significantly higher (p = 0.036) in the CPACG group than in the cataract group. However, there was no significant difference (p > 0.05) in IL- 12 concentration between the two groups. Additionally, there were no significant differences (p > 0.05) in IL-4 and IL-12 levels among patients with varying degrees of visual field defects (groups A, B, and C). Spearman's correlation analysis showed that IL-4 and IL-12 concentrations were not correlated (p > 0.05) with RNFL thickness around the optic disc and the degree of visual field defects. Discussion: Conclusively, IL-4 may play an important role in the pathogenesis of CPACG. Given that IL-4 and IL-12 concentrations in the aqueous humor were not significantly correlated with RNFL thickness and the degree of visual field defects, the increase in IL-4 and IL-12 expression may not induce apoptosis and loss of retinal ganglion cells or affect RNFL thickness as well as the degree of visual field defects.

RESUMO

Purpose: This aims to investigate the efficacy and safety of intercostal nerve anastomosis among breast cancer patients who undergo immediate subpectoral prosthetic breast reconstruction after nipple-areola-sparing mastectomy. Methods: From 2022 to 2023, female patients between the ages of 20 and 60 diagnosed with stage I-IIIA breast cancer, who required and were willing to undergo immediate subpectoral prosthetic breast reconstruction after nipple-areola-sparing mastectomy, were screened and assigned to take the operation with (treatment group) or without (control group) intercostal nerve anastomosis (the nerves with appropriate length and thickness were selected from the 2nd-4th intercostal nerves, which were then dissociated and anastomosed to the posterior areola tissue). A radial incision at the surface projection of the tumor location was used. The patients' breast local sensation was assessed using Semmes-Weinstein monofilaments before the operation as well as at 10 days, 3 months, and 6 months postoperatively. Furthermore, the patients' quality of life was evaluated 6 months postoperatively using the EORTC QLQ-C30 questionnaire. Adverse events, operation duration, drainage volume, and the duration of drainage tube carrying time were also monitored and recorded. Results: Compared to the pre-operative period, a significant decrease in local sensation was observed 10 days after surgery in both groups. However, the control group showed a significant reduction in sensation at 3 and 6 months postoperatively, while the treatment group showed noticeable recovery. A statistically significant difference (P < 0.001) in local sensation between the pre-operative and post-operative periods was observed at the final follow-up in the two groups. By the time of 3 and 6 months postoperatively, a significant difference was seen in the local sensation between the two groups. Intercostal nerve anastomosis was found to significantly improve the patients' quality of life, including emotional (P = 0.01), physical (P = 0.04), and social functioning (P = 0.02) and pain (P = 0.04). There were no significant differences in general characteristics (such as age, BMI, and subtypes). Although intercostal nerve anastomosis increased the duration of operation by around 20 min (P < 0.001), it did not affect the volume or duration of postoperative drainage tube usage between the two groups. Conclusion: This study indicated that intercostal nerve anastomosis improved the local sensation and quality of life of patients who underwent immediate subpectoral prosthetic breast reconstruction after nipple-areola-sparing mastectomy. RESUMO

Amphiphobic fluoroalkyl chains are exploited for creating robust and diverse self-assembled biomimetic catalysts. Long terminal perfluoroalkyl chains (Cn F2n+1 with n=6, 8, and 10) linked with a short perhydroalkyl chains (Cm H2m with m=2 and 3) were used to synthesize several 1,4,7-triazacyclononane (TACN) derivatives, Cn F2n+1 -Cm H2m -TACN. In the presence of an equimolar amount of Zn2+ ions that coordinate the TACN moiety and drive the self-assembly into micelle-like aggregates, the critical aggregation concentration of polyfluorinated Cn F2n+1 -Cm H2m -TACN⋅Zn2+ was lowered by ∼1 order of magnitude compared to the traditional perhyroalkyl counterpart with identical carbon number of alkyl chain. When 2'-hydroxypropyl-4-nitrophenyl phosphate was used as the model phosphate substrate, polyfluorinated Cn F2n+1 -Cm H2m -TACN⋅Zn2+ assemblies showed higher affinity and catalytic activity, compared to its perhyroalkyl chain-based counterpart. Coarse-grained molecular dynamic simulations have been introduced to explore the supramolecular assembly of polyfluoroalkyl chains in the presence of Zn2+ ions and to better understand their enhanced catalytic activity.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Reprogramming glucose metabolism, also known as the Warburg effect (aerobic glycolysis), is a hallmark of cancers. Increased tumor glycolysis not only favors rapid cancer cell proliferation but reprograms the immune microenvironment to enable tumor progression. The transcriptional factor ONECUT3 plays key roles in the development of the liver and pancreas, however, limited is known about its oncogenic roles, particularly metabolic reprogramming. METHODS: Immunohistochemistry and Western blotting are applied to determine the expression pattern of ONECUT3 and its clinical relevance in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Knockdown and overexpression strategies are employed to determine the in vitro and in vivo functions of ONECUT3. Chromatin immunoprecipitation, luciferase reporter assay, and gene set enrichment analysis are used to decipher the molecular mechanisms. RESULTS: The glycolytic metabolism is inversely associated with T-cell infiltration in PDAC. ONECUT3 is identified as a key regulator for PDAC glycolysis and CD8+ T-cell infiltration. Genetic silencing of ONECUT3 inhibits cell proliferation, promotes cell apoptosis, and reduces glycolytic metabolism as evidenced by glucose uptake, lactate production, and extracellular acidification rate. Opposite effects of ONECUT3 are observed in overexpression studies. ONECUT3 enhances aerobic glycolysis via transcriptional regulation of PDK1. Targeting ONECUT3 effectively suppresses tumor growth, increases CD8+ T-cell infiltration, and potentiates anti-PD-1 therapy in PDAC. Pharmacological inhibition of PDK1 also shows a synergistic effect with anti-PD-1 therapy. In clinical setting, ONECUT3 is closely associated with PDK1 expression and T-cell infiltration in PDAC and acts as an independent prognostic factor. CONCLUSIONS: Our study reveals a previous unprecedented regulatory role of ONECUT3 in PDAC glycolysis and provides in vivo evidence that increased glycolysis is linked to an immunosuppressive microenvironment. Moreover, targeting ONECUT3-PDK1 axis may serve as a promising therapeutic approach for the treatment of PDAC.

RESUMO

The tapertail anchovy Coilia brachygnathus, a commercially important species mainly distributed along the mid-lower Chang-Jiang basin, is by far the most dominant species in Lake Honghu. To figure out its success in this semiclosed lake, some basic biological parameters of this anchovy were analysed based on samples seasonally collected from October 2020 to December 2021. The results demonstrated that the age classes of fished individuals varied from 0.5 to 3.5, with the majority (97.36%) being between 0.5 and 3 years old. The size at 50% maturity of 17.2 cm total length (TL) for females and 19.0 cm TL for males corresponded to 1 and 1.6 years, respectively. Coilia brachygnathus has a short life span, early sexual maturity and a relatively fast growth rate. The flourishing of the fish in the lake is mainly attributed to its short life span, early maturity, fast growth rate, closed fishing, pelagic spawners, the availability of plenty of food and low predation effect on it. Age 3.5 year occurs in an extremely small percentage of the total (<3%), indicating that a large number of larger-sized or older fish died after spawning, which is probably one of the major sources of water pollution if the closed fishing measure is adopted in Lake Honghu. Thus, individuals older than 2 years or more than 20.0 cm TL should be harvested. These findings have important management implications for the fish resources in Lake Honghu and beyond.

RESUMO

Background: Male breast cancer (MBC) is a rare disease and differs from female breast cancer (FBC) in clinicopathological and immune tissue types. Given the limited research on MBC due to its rarity, an understanding of the shared and distinct features of MBC and FBC is vital for formulating efficacious treatment strategies. Methods: Data of patients diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database from 2012 to 2017 were analysed. Chi-square test was used to compare clinicopathological characteristics between male and female patients. Kaplan-Meier analysis was utilized to compare differences in overall survival (OS). Results: A total of 2,858 patients with MBC were studied, 134 of whom had distant metastasis. Compared with 8,698 patients with metastatic FBC, a higher proportion of metastatic MBC patients had tumors located in the center of the breast, received surgical treatment, and had bone + lung metastasis. Survival analysis revealed no difference in OS between metastatic MBC and FBC patients (P=0.27), but there was a significant difference in OS between metastatic and nonmetastatic MBC (P=0.004). Compared with metastatic FBC, MBC patients with bone metastasis alone, lung metastasis alone, liver metastasis alone, and bone + lung metastasis also had worse prognosis (P=0.021, 0.019, 0.024, 0.011, respectively). Conclusions: Metastatic MBC has unique clinicopathological disease features and patterns of metastasis. No significant difference between the survival of metastatic MBC and FBC patients was observed. Distant metastasis was an independent risk factor impacting the prognosis of MBC patients.

RESUMO

Tumor microenvironment (TME) stimuli-responsive nanoassemblies are emerging as promising drug delivery systems (DDSs), which acquire controlled release by structural transformation under exogenous stimulation. However, the design of smart stimuli-responsive nanoplatforms integrated with nanomaterials to achieve complete tumor ablation remains challenging. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to develop TME-based stimuli-responsive DDSs to enhance drug-targeted delivery and release at tumor sites. Herein, we proposed an appealing strategy to construct fluorescence-mediated TME stimulus-responsive nanoplatforms for synergistic cancer therapy by assembling photosensitizers (PSs) carbon dots (CDs), chemotherapeutic agent ursolic acid (UA), and copper ions (Cu2+). First, UA nanoparticles (UA NPs) were prepared by self-assembly of UA, then UA NPs were assembled with CDs via hydrogen bonding force to obtain UC NPs. After combining with Cu2+, the resulting particles (named UCCu2+ NPs) exhibited quenched fluorescence and photosensitization due to the aggregation of UC NPs. Upon entering the tumor tissue, the photodynamic therapy (PDT) and the fluorescence function of UCCu2+ were recovered in response to TME stimulation. The introduction of Cu2+ triggered the charge reversal of UCCu2+ NPs, thereby promoting lysosomal escape. Furthermore, Cu2+ resulted in additional chemodynamic therapy (CDT) capacity by reacting with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as well as by consuming glutathione (GSH) in cancer cells through a redox reaction, hence magnifying intracellular oxidative stress and enhancing the therapeutic efficacy due to reactive oxygen species (ROS) therapy. In summary, UCCu2+ NPs provided an unprecedented novel approach for improving the therapeutic efficacy through the three-pronged (chemotherapy, phototherapy, and heat-reinforced CDT) attacks to achieve synergistic therapy.

RESUMO

The introduction of signal amplification to molecular spectral sensing systems is an intriguing topic in supramolecular analytical chemistry. In this study, click chemistry was used to generate a triazole moiety to bridge with a long hydrophobic alkyl chain (Cn) and another short alkyl chain (Cm) bearing a 1,4,7-triazacyclonane (TACN) group for efficiently generating a self-assembling multivalent catalyst, Cn-triazole-Cm-TACN·Zn2+ (n and m represent the carbon numbers of both alkyl chains, respectively; n = 16, 18, and 20; m = 2 and 6), to catalyze the hydrolysis of 2-hydroxypropyl-4-nitrophenyl phosphate (HPNPP) when Zn2+ was added. The triazole moiety introduced adjacent to the TACN group plays an important role in improving the selectivity of Zn2+ because the triazole moiety can participate in the coordination interaction between the Zn2+ and neighboring TACN group. The supplementary triazole complexing increases the space requirement for coordinated metal ions. This catalytic sensing system also shows high sensitivity, with a favorable limit of detection down to 350 nM, even if only UV-vis absorption spectra rather than more sensitive fluorescence techniques were used for signaling, and can be used to determine the concentration of Zn2+ in tap water, which demonstrates the practical application feasibility.

RESUMO

Background: Preoperative anemia has been associated with perioperative morbidity and mortality in patients undergoing cardiac and non-cardiac surgery. Preoperative anemia is common in elderly hip fracture patients. The primary objective of the study was to explore the relationship between preoperative hemoglobin levels and postoperative major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) in hip fracture patients over 80 years. Methods: The retrospective study enrolled hip fracture patients over 80 years from January 2015 to December 2021 in our center. The data were collected from the hospital's electronic database after approval by the ethics committee. The primary objective of the study was to investigate MACEs, and the secondary objectives included in-hospital mortality, delirium, acute renal failure, ICU admission rate, and transfusion (>2 U). Results: 912 patients were entered for final analysis. Based on the restricted cubic spline, the risk of preoperative hemoglobin (<10 g/DL) was associated with an increased risk of postoperative complications. With univariable logistic analysis, a hemoglobin level <10 g/DL was associated with increased MACEs [OR 1.769, 95% CI (1.074, 2.914), P = .025], in-hospital mortality [OR 2.709, 95% CI (1.215, 6.039), P = .015] and transfusion >2 U risk [OR 2.049, 95% CI (1.56, 2.69), P < .001]. Even after adjustment for confounding factors, MACEs [OR 1.790, 95% CI (1.073, 2.985), P = .026], in-hospital mortality [OR 2.81, 95% CI (1.214, 6.514), P = .016] and transfusion >2 U rate [OR 2.002, 95% CI (1.516, 2.65), P < .001] were still higher in the lower hemoglobin level cohort. Moreover, a log-rank test showed increased in-hospital mortality in the cohort with a preoperative hemoglobin level of <10 g/DL. However, there was no difference in delirium, acute renal failure, and ICU admission rates. Conclusions: In conclusion, for hip fracture patients over 80 years, preoperative hemoglobin levels <10 g/DL might be associated with increased postoperative MACEs, in-hospital mortality, and transfusion >2 U.

RESUMO

Designing an imine-based fluorescent probe capable of greatly suppressing the tendency of intrinsic hydrolysis reaction is an attractive topic in the field of chemo-/biosensing. In this work, hydrophobic 1,1'-binaphthyl-2,2'-diamine containing two amine groups was introduced to synthesize probe R-1 bearing two imine bonds linked by two salicylaldehyde (SAs). The hydrophobicity of binaphthyl moiety and the unique clamp-like structure formed from double imine bonds and from ortho-OH on SA part make probe R-1 is able to function as an ideal receptor to coordinate with Al3+ ions, leading to the fluorescence originated from the complex rather than from the assumed hydrolyzed fluorescent amine is turned on. Further study revealed that, when Al3+ ions were introduced, both the hydrophobic binaphthyl moiety and the clamp-like double imine structure in the designed imine-based probe showed important contributions to suppress the intrinsic hydrolysis reaction, resulting in generating a stable coordination complex with an extremely high selectivity in fluorescence response.

RESUMO

We aimed to observe changes in angle width and choroidal thickness (CT) before and after phacoemulsification intraocular lens implantation (PEI) combined with goniosynechialysis (GSL) in patients with primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG) complicated by cataracts. This prospective cohort study included 60 patients with PACG complicated by cataracts from the Department of Ophthalmology of Shaoxing People's Hospital, China. Patients underwent PEI combined with GSL (PEI-GSL group) or laser peripheral iridotomy (LPI) followed by PEI (PEI group). Intraocular pressure (IOP) and endothelial counts were significantly decreased in both groups after surgery, while best-corrected visual acuity and central anterior chamber depth were significantly increased. However, there were no significant differences between the two groups. The opening degrees of room corners at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock were recorded as AA12, AA3, AA6, and AA9, respectively. Anterior chamber depth was significantly increased postoperatively compared to preoperatively in both groups, with no significant between-group differences (all ps > 0.05). At 1, 3, and 6 months postoperatively, the width at AA12, AA3, and AA9 points was higher in the PEI-GSL group than in the PEI group (all ps < 0.05). Significant between-group differences at AA6 were observed preoperatively (p = 0.023) and at 1 (p = 0.027) and 3 (p = 0.033) months postoperatively but not at 6 months postoperatively (p = 0.055). CT was smaller postoperatively than preoperatively (all ps < 0.001). The present study suggests that patients with PACG who underwent PEI with or without GSL had reduced IOP and CT after surgery.

RESUMO

Imitating and incorporating the multiple key structural features observed in natural enzymes into a minimalistic molecule to develop an artificial catalyst with outstanding catalytic efficiency is an attractive topic for chemists. Herein, we designed and synthesized one class of minimalistic dipeptide molecules containing a terminal -SH group and a terminal His-Phe dipeptide head linked by a hydrophobic alkyl chain with different lengths, marked as HS-C n+1-His-Phe (n = 4, 7, 11, 15, and 17; n + 1 represents the carbon atom number of the alkyl chain). The His (-imidazole), Phe (-CO2 -) moieties, the terminal -SH group, and a long hydrophobic alkyl chain were found to have important contributions to achieve high binding ability leading to outstanding absolute catalytic efficiency (k cat/K M) toward the hydrolysis reactions of carboxylic ester substrates.

RESUMO

How to distinguish D2O and H2O and determine the trace H2O content in D2O solvent, by using molecule-based spectral probes, is an intriguing topic in analytical chemistry, yet considerably few examples remain up to now, likely due to the very similar physical/chemical properties between D2O and H2O. In this work, we found that both the hydrolysis reactions to release fluorescent amines and aggregation-induced emission (AIE) of imines, functioning as dual fluorescence signals to distinguish D2O and H2O, could be modulated by changing the imine structures. The hydrophobicity of imines showed an important contribution to the ability of modulating the hydrolysis reactions and AIE, demonstrating a significant difference on fluorescence signals in D2O and H2O solvents. Among all tested imines, probe 3, condensed from 2-naphthylamine and salicylaldehyde, was found to have the potential ability to act as an ideal candidate for probing the H2O content in D2O solvent, particularly in a low H2O content range, using the ratiomeric emission signals.

RESUMO

The aim of this study was to compare intraoperative indicators and postoperative complications of sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) via the axillary cribriform membrane and traditional axillary fold with blue dye to make a priority choice. This single-center, retrospective cohort study enrolled 330 eligible breast cancer patients with stage of cTis ~ 2N0M0 in our hospital from August 2018 to July 2021. Multiple linear and binary logistic regression were used to evaluate the effects of different surgical approaches on intraoperative indicators (drainage volume, tube time, intraoperative bleeding, operative time and the number of sentinel lymph nodes (SLNs)) and postoperative complications (upper limb edema and dysfunction). All statistical tests were two sided. Multiple linear and logistic regression results after adjusting the covariate showed that the axillary cribriform fascia approach could render more greater intraoperative indictors and reduce the risk of upper limb dysfunction (P = 0.038, OR 0.32, 95%CI 0.11-0.94). High BMI could increase the drainage volume, tube time and operative time. There was no significant difference in the number of SLNs between the two approaches and it also had no relationship with intraoperative indicators and postoperative complications. Overall, 6 (1.8%) experienced upper limb edema and 18 (5.5%) experienced upper limb dysfunction. Univariate logistic regression analysis showed that radiotherapy increased the risk of upper limb edema (P = 0.032, OR = 12.76, 95%CI 1.25-130.06). SLNB through the axillary cribriform fascia approach produces more satisfied intraoperative indictors, a lower risk of upper limb dysfunction.
