PURPOSE: To characterize subgroups with similar nutritional status trajectories during the 6-month period after pancreatectomy and to identify demographic and clinical characteristics influencing changes in nutritional status in each subgroup. METHODS: This longitudinal prospective study recruited 112 patients with newly diagnosed pancreatic tumor from an outpatient pancreatic surgical department of a medical center in northern Taiwan between September 2016 and April 2019. Patients completed a demographic and clinical characteristics form, the Mini Nutritional Assessment scale, and the Symptom Severity Scale prior to surgery (T0), 3 months after surgery (T1), and 6 months after surgery (T2). Latent class growth analysis was used to investigate the trajectories of nutritional status. Generalized estimating equations were used to identify significant factors influencing each trajectory. RESULTS: Two latent groups of nutritional status trajectories were identified. Among 112 patients, 74.11% and 25.89% were classified as having high and low nutritional status trajectories, respectively. High nutritional status was significantly negatively correlated with changes in symptom severity. Low nutritional status was significantly negatively correlated with older age, surgical complications, and changes in symptom severity. CONCLUSIONS: Symptom severity has the most significant negative effect on perioperative nutritional status. Older age and surgical complications exert negative effects on perioperative nutritional status among patients with low nutritional status. These findings emphasize the need for nurses to identify at-risk individuals and provide individualized nutritional care to improve nutritional status in this population. This study improved homemade apparatus for characterizing the interfacial shear strength (IFSS) of carbon-fiber-reinforced polyphenylene sulfide (PPS/CF) composites. The upgraded generation II experimental device includes a newly developed experimental clamp for samples, as well as testing systems. Compared with the initial generation I apparatus and the commercial Toei instrument, the generation II device is easier and more efficient to operate. The average interfacial adhesion values obtained using these devices were consistently approximately 40 MPa, with relatively low data scatter, showing excellent repeatability and applicability during microbond tests. Notably, the generation II experimental device was equipped with an additional high-frequency data-capturing tool to identify the debonding peak force more precisely, which demonstrated a higher interfacial shear strength of 42.81 MPa during testing. Therefore, the new instrument was able to reflect the change in the interfacial stress state during the interface debonding process more accurately and reliably.

PURPOSE: This study assessed the changes in malnutrition status, symptom severity, and anorexia-cachexia-related quality of life (QoL) before and after pancreatic surgery and identified significant factors associated with changes in anorexia-cachexia-related QoL in patients with operable pancreatic cancer. METHODS: In total, 76 patients with pancreatic cancer who were scheduled to undergo surgery were recruited from a medical center in northern Taiwan. The Mini Nutritional Assessment, Symptom Severity Scale, and Functional Assessment of Anorexia-Cachexia Therapy scale were used to assess the patients' nutritional status, symptom severity, and anorexia-cachexia-related QoL, respectively. Bioelectrical impedance analysis was performed using X-Scan Plus II to assess body composition. A generalized estimating equation approach was used to identify significant factors associated with anorexia-cachexia-related QoL. RESULTS: In total, 42.1% of the patients had malnutrition or were at risk of malnutrition before surgery. Preoperative malnutrition (ß = -3.857, p = .001) and higher early satiety (ß = -0.629, p = .005), insomnia (ß = -0.452, p = .025), and pain (ß = -0.779, p < .001) were associated with lower anorexia-cachexia-related QoL. CONCLUSION: Clinicians should actively assess the nutritional status of patients with pancreatic cancer before surgery and provide symptom cluster management interventions to improve nutrition, insomnia, and pain, which is crucial for enhancing patients' anorexia-cachexia-related QoL.

A simple and efficient strategy for enhancing the interfacial interaction in carbon fiber-reinforced poly(arylene sulfide sulfone) (CF/PASS) composites by grafting polymeric chains via thiol-ene click chemistry is reported here. Simultaneously, three thiol compounds and carbon nanotubes were grafted on CFs to explore the reaction between the CF and thiol groups. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and normalized temperature-dependent IR spectroscopy results confirm the successful grafting of three thiol compounds, carbon nanotubes, and polymer chains. Similarly, obvious changes on the CF surface can be seen before and after modification via scanning electron microscopy, such as grafted nanotubes and polymeric resin, and the increase in the modulus gradient and interfacial thickness of CF/PASS can be clearly seen via atomic force microscopy. All the results of micro and macro tests on mechanical properties indicate that connecting low molecular weight thiol-terminated PASS (HS-LPASS) onto CFs enhances the interfacial property and mechanical performance of CF/PASS to a greater extent. The interfacial shear strength, interlaminar shear strength, and tensile strength of CF@HS-LPASS-reinforced PASS (CF@HS-LPASS/PASS) increase significantly by 38.5, 43.6, and 24.4%, respectively. All the results demonstrate that thiol-ene click reactions can be used for CF modification; furthermore, in the presence of external stress, the grafted polymeric interphase can act as a "bridge layer" to improve the stress transfer efficiency.

Double polymeric grafted layer is constructed by two steps of chemical reaction, in which two polymers had been used, respectively polydopamine (PDA) film and modified PASS (NH2-PASS) resin containing amine group, as the interphase in carbon fiber reinforced poly(arylene sulfide sulfone) (PASS) composite (CF/PASS) to work on enhancing the interfacial property. All the test results of chemical components and chemical structures on the carbon fiber surface show that the double polymeric grafted layer was constructed successfully with PDA and NH2-PASS chains. And obvious characteristics of thin PDA film and a polymer layer can be clearly seen in the morphology of modified carbon fiber. In addition to this, the obvious interphase and change in the thickness of interphase have been observed in the modulus distribution images of CF/PASS. The final superb performance is achieved by PASS composites with a double polymeric grafted layer, 27.2% and 198.6% superior to the original PASS composite for IFSS and ILSS, respectively. Moreover, the result also indicates that constructing a double polymeric grafted layer on a carbon fiber surface is a promising technique to modify carbon fiber for processing high-performance advanced thermoplastic composites and is more environmental friendly as well as convenient.

BACKGROUND: Acupuncture is a widely used alternative and complementary therapy. Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is an important technique to explore the underlying mechanism of acupuncture, and the task-based fMRI can reflect the instant effects or sustained effects of acupuncture in the brain. This scoping review aims to summarize the characteristics of acupuncture mechanism studies employing task-based fMRI and conclude a reference for future studies. METHODS/DESIGN: This review will follow the Guidance for Conducting Scoping Reviews. Eligible articles will be collected from 7 databases (PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, CNKI, WanFang, VIP, and CBM) with the related keywords such as "Acupuncture" and "fMRI"; those articles should be published from January 1, 2000, to December 31, 2021; and the language should be restricted in English or Chinese. Each research step will involve at least two reviewers. The PRISMA-ScR (Preferred Reporting Items for Systemic Reviews and Meta-Analysis Extension for Scoping Reviews) will be used to organize the review. Data will be extracted from the illegible articles, and findings will be presented in tables and narrative form. A descriptive qualitative approach to analysis will be conducted to form the scoping review. DISCUSSION: This review aims to clarify the extent of acupuncture mechanism studies employing task-based fMRI. It is supposed to make a critical evaluation or propose quality requirements for future studies by summarizing the objectives and designs of eligible studies. OBJECTIVE: To observe the clinical effect of Panlong (dragon-like) acupuncture combined with Xingnao Kaiqiao (regaining consciousness and opening orifice) acupuncture on post-stroke fatigue. METHODS: Sixty patients with post-stroke fatigue were randomly divided into an observation group (30 cases, 1 case dropped off) and a control group (30 cases, 2 cases dropped off). The patients in the control group were treated with Xingnao Kaiqiao acupuncture at Neiguan (PC 6), Shuigou (GV 26), etc. for 30 min; based on the treatment of the control group, the patients in the observation group were treated with Panlong acupuncture at Jiaji (EX-B 2) of T1 to L5 for 15 min. The two groups were treated once a day, 6 times a week, for a total of 4 weeks. The scores of fatigue assessment instrument (FAI), energy of stroke-specific quality of life (SS-QOL), and modified Barthel index (MBI) in the two groups were compared before and after treatment, and the clinical efficacy was evaluated. RESULTS: Compared before treatment, the total score and each item score of FAI in the observation group were reduced after treatment (P<0.05), while the total score and FAI-1 and FAI-4 scores in the control group were reduced after treatment (P<0.05). The total score of FAI and FAI-1, FAI-2 and FAI-4 scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the SS-QOL energy scores and MBI scores of the two groups were increased compared before treatment (P<0.05), and the SS-QOL energy score in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.01). The total effective rate was 72.4% (21/29) in the observation group, which was better than 46.4% (13/28) in the control group (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: The Panlong acupuncture combined with Xingnao Kaiqiao acupuncture could effectively alleviate the fatigue symptoms and improve quality of life in patients with post-stroke fatigue.

A series of novel thermoplastic elastomers based on (poly(decamethylene terephthalamide/decamethylene isophthalamide), PA10T/10I) and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) were synthesized via a facile one-pot, efficient and pollution-free method. The thermal analysis demonstrates that the melting points of the resultant elastomers were in the range of 217.1-233.9 °C, and their initial decomposition temperatures were in the range of 385.3-387.5 °C. That is higher than most commercial polyamide-based thermoplastic elastomers. The tensile strength of the resultant elastomers ranges from 21.9 to 41.1 MPa. According to the high-temperature bending test results, the resultant samples still maintain considerably better mechanical properties than commercial products such as Pebax® 5533 (Arkema, Paris, France), and these novel thermoplastic elastomers could potentially be applied in high-temperature scenes. The non-isothermal crystallization kinetics of the resultant elastomers and PA10T/10I was investigated by means of Jeziorny and Mo's methods. Both of them could successfully describe the crystallization behavior of the resultant elastomers. Additionally, the activation energy of non-isothermal crystallization was calculated by the Kissinger method and the Friedman equation. The results indicate that the crystallization rates follow the order of TPAE-2000 > TPAE-1500 > PA10T/10I > TPAE-1000. From the crystallization analysis, the crystallization kinetics and activation energies are deeply affected by the molecular weight of hard segment.

BACKGROUND: As the number of COVID-19 cases in the US continues to increase and hospitals experience shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE), health care workers have been disproportionately affected. However, since COVID-19 testing is now easily available, there is a need to evaluate whether routine testing should be performed for asymptomatic health care workers. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to provide a quantitative analysis of the predicted impact that regular testing of health care workers for COVID-19 may have on the prevention of the disease among emergency department patients and staff. METHODS: Using publicly available data on COVID-19 cases and emergency department visits, as well as internal hospital staffing information, we developed a mathematical model to predict the impact of periodic COVID-19 testing of asymptomatic staff members of the emergency department in COVID-19-affected regions. We calculated various transmission constants based on the Diamond Princess cruise ship data, used a logistic model to calculate new infections, and developed a Markov model based on the average incubation period for COVID-19. RESULTS: Our model predicts that after 180 days, with a transmission constant of 1.219e-4 new infections/person2, weekly COVID-19 testing of health care workers would reduce new health care worker and patient infections by approximately 3%-5.9%, and biweekly testing would reduce infections in both by 1%-2.1%. At a transmission constant of 3.660e-4 new infections/person2, weekly testing would reduce infections by 11%-23% and biweekly testing would reduce infections by 5.5%-13%. At a lower transmission constant of 4.067e-5 new infections/person2, weekly and biweekly COVID-19 testing for health care workers would result in an approximately 1% and 0.5%-0.8% reduction in infections, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: Periodic COVID-19 testing for emergency department staff in regions that are heavily affected by COVID-19 or are facing resource constraints may significantly reduce COVID-19 transmission among health care workers and previously uninfected patients.

Patients with nontuberculous mycobacterial lung disease (NTM-LD) often have significant exercise intolerance and poorer health-related quality of life (HRQL). The goals of treatment for NTM-LD should include reducing the severity of symptoms, improving HRQL, and reducing acute exacerbations. Nonpharmacological treatment, including pulmonary rehabilitation program and optimal nutritional strategy, should be one part of treatment for NTM-LD. A pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) program can comprise education, airway clearance techniques instruction, exercise training program, and inspiratory muscle training (IMT). Airway clearance techniques can improve the volume of sputum expectorated, cough symptom, breathlessness, and HRQL. Exercise training can improve exercise capacity and HRQL, and reduce acute exacerbations and dyspnea. Clinical benefits of IMT remain controversial but high-intensity IMT has been shown to be effective in increasing respiratory muscle strength with concurrent improvement of HRQL and exercise capacity. Body weight and muscle mass loss are common in patients with NTM-LD. An adequate protein and caloric diet combined with antioxidant nutrients might be the most appropriate dietary strategy. Comprehensive treatment for NTM-LD should include the combination of both pharmacological and nonpharmacological treatments. The management programs should be tailored to the individual's condition.

BackgroundAs the number of COVID-19 cases in the US continues to rise and hospitals are experiencing personal protective equipment (PPE) shortages, healthcare workers have been disproportionately affected by COVID-19 infection. Since COVID-19 testing is now available, some have raised the question of whether we should be routinely testing asymptomatic healthcare workers. MethodsUsing publicly available data on COVID-19 infections and emergency department visits, as well as internal hospital staffing information, we generated a mathematical model to predict the impact of periodic COVID-19 testing in asymptomatic members of the emergency department staff in regions affected by COVID-19 infection. We calculated various transmission constants based on the Diamond Princess cruise ship data, used a logistic model to calculate new infections, and we created a Markov model according to average COVID-19 incubation time. ResultsOur model predicts that after 30 days, with a transmission constant of 1.219e-4 new infections per person2, weekly COVID-19 testing of healthcare workers (HCW) would reduce new HCW and patient infections by 5.1% and bi-weekly testing would reduce both by 2.3%. At a transmission constant of 3.660e-4 new infections per person,2 weekly testing would reduce infections by 21.1% and bi-weekly testing would reduce infections by 9.7-9.8%. For a lower transmission constant of 4.067e-5 new infections per person2, weekly and biweekly HCW testing would result in a 1.54% and 0.7% reduction in infections respectively. ConclusionPeriodic COVID-19 testing for emergency department staff in regions that are heavily-affected by COVID-19 and/or facing resource constraints may reduce COVID-19 transmission significantly among healthcare workers and previously-uninfected patients.

BackgroundAs the number of suspected and confirmed COVID-19 cases in the US continues to rise, the US surgeon general, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and several specialty societies have issued recommendations to consider canceling elective surgeries. However, these recommendations have also faced controversy and opposition. MethodsUsing previously published information and publicly available data on COVID-19 infections, we calculated a transmission rate and generated a mathematical model to predict a lower bound for the number of healthcare-acquired COVID-19 infections that could be prevented by canceling or postponing elective outpatient surgeries in Washington state. ResultsOur model predicts that over the course of 30 days, at least 75.9 preventable patient infections and at least 69.3 preventable healthcare worker (HCW) infections would occur in WA state alone if elective outpatient procedures were to continue as usual. ConclusionCanceling elective outpatient surgeries during the COVID-19 pandemic could prevent a large number of patient and healthcare worker infections.

Etiology of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS), a complicated three-dimensional spinal deformity with early-onset, receives continuous attention but remains unclear. To gain an insight into AIS pathogenesis, this review searched PubMed database up to June 2019, using key words or medical subject headings terms including "adolescent idiopathic scoliosis," "scoliosis," "pathogenesis," "etiology," "genetics," "mesenchymal stem cells," and their combinations, summarized existing literatures and categorized the theories or hypothesis into nine aspects. These aspects include bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell studies, genetic studies, tissue analysis, spine biomechanics measurements, neurologic analysis, hormone studies, biochemical analysis, environmental factor analysis, and lifestyle explorations. These categories could be a guidance for further etiology or treatment researches to gain inspiration.

Segregated conductive polymer composites have been proved to be outstanding electromagnetic interference shielding (EMI) materials at low filler loadings. However, due to the poor interfacial adhesion between the pure conductive filler layers and segregated polymer granules, the mechanical properties of the segregated composites are usually poor, which limit their application. Herein, a simple and effective approach, the partial dissolution method, has been proposed to fabricate segregated poly(arylene sulfide sulfone) (PASS)/graphene nanoplatelet (GNP) composites with superior EMI shielding effectiveness (SE) and high tensile strength. Morphology examinations revealed that the GNPs were restricted in the dissolved outer layer by the undissolved cores, and there was a strong interaction between the PASS/GNP layer and the pure PASS core. The resultant PASS/GNP composites showed excellent electrical conductivity (60.3 S m-1) and high EMI SE (41 dB) with only 5 wt% GNPs. More notably, the tensile strength of the PASS/GNPs prepared by partial dissolution reached 36.4 MPa, presenting 136% improvement compared to that of the conventional segregated composites prepared by mechanical mixing. The composites also exhibited high resistance to elevated temperatures and chemicals owing to the use of the special engineering polymer PASS as a matrix.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of double lumen microcatheters in chronic coronary artery total occlusion(CTO)lesions at bifurcation during percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI).Methods From October 2013 to March 2015,we retrospectively analysed the application of double lumen microcatheter with bifurcation CTO lesions and reviewed the patients' clinical features,coronary angiography,intervention operation success rate,complications rates and incidence of major adverse cardiac events(including all-cause death,nonfatal myocardial infarction and target vascular remodeling).Results Twenty-three CTO lesions at bifurcation were treated with double lumen microcatheters,stenting were performed in 21 lesions and 2 lesions only received PTCA due to small blood vessel size.The operation success rate was 100%.All the 11 right coronary lesions and 3 left coronary lesions were managed using single stenting technique.Double stenting strategy was used in 9 left coronary lesions including 4 cases with mini-crush technique,4 cases with modified culottes technique and one case with modified T technique.All double stenting procedures were completed by kissing balloon expansion.There was no major adverse cardiac event occured during and after operation.Conclusion Double lumen microcatheters are useful in PCI treatment of bifurcation CTO lesions.

BACKGROUND & AIMS: Patients admitted to intensive care units (ICUs) often need enteral nutrition (EN) support. For patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D), standard EN formulas may not provide ideal nutrients. The purpose was to investigate whether use of a diabetes-specific formula (DSF) could provide clinical and health economic benefits (compared to standard formulas) in critically ill patients with T2D. METHODS: This study was a retrospective analysis of medical records and expenditure data covering a 5-year period (2009-2013) from the hospitalization database of the National Taiwan University Hospital. Records of ICU patients who had T2D and were receiving enteral feeding with either the DSF or non-diabetes-specific formula (non-DSF) for at least 5 days were included in the analysis. Mortality, ICU length of stay (LOS), diabetes-related medications, and total costs of care (including all costs covered by the National Health Insurance and private expenses) were considered as the primary outcomes. RESULTS: A total of 158 patient records were analyzed in the DSF group and 794 in the non-DSF group. The baseline demographics including age, gender, weight, body mass index (BMI), and comorbidity patterns were mostly comparable between the groups. Compared to those receiving non-DSF, patients with T2D receiving DSF were found to have significantly decreased mortality (5.1% vs. 12.3%, P = 0.0118) and reduced need for insulin prescription (29.1% vs. 38.4%, P = 0.0269). ICU LOS was shorter for DSF patients, but no statistical difference was found (13.0 days vs. 15.1 days, P = 0.1843). However, significantly lower total ICU costs were reported for DSF patients (6700 USD vs. 9200 USD, P < 0.0001). CONCLUSIONS: The use of DSF in ICU patients with T2D is correlated with significant reduction in mortality and improved health economic outcomes.

Cell-sheet technology involves the recovery of cells with its secreted ECM and cell-cell junctions intact, and thereby harvesting them in a single contiguous layer. Temperature changes coupled with a thermoresponsive polymer grafted culture plate surface are typically used to induce detachment of this cell-matrix layer by controlling the hydrophobicity and hydrophilicity properties of the culture surface. This review article details the genesis and development of this technique as a critical tissue-engineering tool, with a comprehensive discussion on connective tissue applications. This includes applications in the myocardial, vascular, cartilage, bone, tendon/ligament, and periodontal areas among others discussed. In particular, further focus will be given to the use of stem cells-derived cell-sheets, such as those involving bone marrow-derived and adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells. In addition, some of the associated challenges faced by approaches using stem cells-derived cell-sheets will also be discussed. Finally, recent advances pertaining to technologies forming, detaching, and manipulating cell-sheets will be covered in view of the potential impact they will have on shaping the way cell-sheet technology will be utilized in the future as a tissue-engineering technique.

Insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF2) is a potent cell growth and differentiation factor and is implicated in mammals' growth and development. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of the mutations in the bovine IGF2 with growth traits in Chinese Qinchuan cattle. Four single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were detected of the bovine IGF2 by DNA pool sequencing and forced polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (forced PCR-RFLP) methods. We also investigated haplotype structure and linkage disequilibrium (LD) coefficients for four SNPs in 817 individuals representing two main cattle breeds from China. The result of haplotype analysis showed eight different haplotypes and 27 combined genotypes within the study population. The statistical analyses indicated that the four SNPs, combined genotypes and haplotypes are associated with the withers height, body length, chest breadth, chest depth and body weight in Qinchuan cattle population (P < 0.05 or <0.01). The mutant-type variants and mutant haplotype (Hap 8: ATGG; likely to be the beneficial QTN allele) was superior for growth traits; the heterozygote diplotype was associated with higher growth traits compared to wild-type homozygote. Our results provide evidence that polymorphisms in the IGF2 gene are associated with growth traits, and may be used for marker-assisted selection in beef cattle breeding program.

Neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is a poorly understood life-threatening illness afflicting premature infants. Research is hampered by the absence of a suitable method to monitor disease progression noninvasively. The primary goal of this research was to test in vivo MRI methods for the noninvasive early detection and staging of inflammation in the ileum of an infant rat model of NEC. Neonatal rats were delivered by cesarean section at embryonic stage of day 20 after the beginning of pregnancy and stressed with formula feeding, hypoxia and bacterial colonization to induce NEC. Naturally born and dam-fed neonatal rats were used as healthy controls. In vivo MRI studies were performed using a Bruker 9.4-T scanner to obtain high-resolution anatomical MR images using both gradient echo and spin echo sequences, pixel-by-pixel T2 maps using a multi-slice-multi-echo sequence, and maps of the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) of water using a spin echo sequence, to assess the degree of ileal damage. Pups were sacrificed at the end of the MRI experiment on day 2 or 4 for histology. T2 measured by MRI was increased significantly in the ileal regions of pups with NEC by histology (106.3 ± 6.1 ms) compared with experimentally stressed pups without NEC (85.2 ± 6.8 ms) and nonstressed, control rat pups (64.9 ± 2.3 ms). ADC values measured by diffusion-weighted MRI were also increased in the ileal regions of pups with NEC by histology [(1.98 ± 0.15) × 10(-3) mm(2)/s] compared with experimentally stressed pups without NEC [(1.43 ± 0.16) × 10(-3) mm(2)/s] and nonstressed control pups [(1.10 ± 0.06) × 10(-3) mm(2)/s]. Both T2 and ADC values between these groups were found to be significantly different (p < 0.03). The correlation of MRI results with histologic images of the excised ileal tissue samples strongly suggests that MRI can noninvasively identify NEC and assess intestinal injury prior to clinical symptoms in a physiologic rat pup model of NEC.

Betel quid chewing is associated with various pathologic alterations in oral mucosa. However, the molecular mechanism behind so many contradictory alterations remains unclear. Here we aimed to build a model to facilitate the related studies in cultured cells. In our results, areca nut extract (ANE) was found to exert different effects in oral cells depending on the supplemented serum level. ANE strongly induced DNA damage, necrotic ballooning, and inflammatory cytokines under lower serum concentration while might convert to facilitate deregulated growth of serum-supplemented cells via modulating the activity/expression of factors such as E-cadherin and Snail. Despite ANE significantly activated NF-κB, a mediator critical for inflammation, inhibition of NF-κB did not prevent the activation of IL8 promoter. We further discovered Y705-dephosphorylated STAT3 might enhance IL8 transcription. Since necrosis and the inflammatory cytokines could cause massive inflammation, infiltration of interstitial fluid might potentiate cellular resistance against the acute cytotoxicity of ANE and further support the proliferation of transforming cells. Induction of VEGF and angiogenesis under lower serum condition also paved the way for cell growth and subsequent metastasis. Accordingly, we concluded that in correlation with serum infiltration ANE caused particular effects in oral cells and possibly the various clinicopathological alterations in vivo.
