RESUMO

We evaluated antioxidant state of 62 patients with coronary heart disease and 47 patients with obliterating atherosclerosis of lower extremities by peroxide-depend chemiluminescence and inhibition of azo-initiated chemiluminescence and hydrogen peroxide-hemoglobin-luminol chemiluminescence system. The flash amplitude of peroxide-dependent chemiluminescence in the plasma from patients was 32% below the control. Antioxidant activity of the plasma from patients was higher than in healthy individuals by 33 and 27% depending on the type of free radical-generating systems. The increase in antioxidant activity was most pronounced in patients with combined pathology: coronary heart disease complicated by obliterating atherosclerosis. These results explain the decrease in peroxide-dependent chemiluminescence of the plasma and whole blood in patients with atherosclerosis compared to that in healthy individuals.

RESUMO

The activating ability of several dyes has been investigated, including rhodamines, Nile blue, methyl violet, and malachite green. Egg yolk lipoproteins with Fe2+ ions added were used as a model system. It was shown that rhodamines activated mainly early stages of the chemiluminescence, while the Nile blue dye activated the later stages of the luminescence (mainly the stage of the stationary chemiluminescence). The dye Nile blue in the concentrations of 4 mkM increased the intensity of the chemiluminescence by one order of magnitude.

RESUMO

Physical-chemical properties of low-density human blood plasma lipoproteins have been studied using the chemiluminescence activated by the coumarin. The difference in the activated chemiluminescence of the native and oxidated lipoproteins can be seen in the fact that the amplitude of the quick flash is larger for the oxidated lipoproteins.

RESUMO

Rhodamine Zn in concentrations of 300-500 mumole/l enhances Fe(2+)-induced chemiluminescence (CL) in blood serum, liposome and lipoprotein suspensions by two orders of magnitude. Several different rhodamines were compared, chemiluminescence spectra were measured and relationships between dye concentration, medium composition and CL intensity were studied.

RESUMO

Antioxidative activity of potassium- and sodium glycyrrhizins was detected by means of chemoluminescence procedure. As shown by the spectral studies the glycyrrhizin salts formed complex of the I type with cytochrome P-450 from rat liver microsomes, inhibited inactivation of isolated cytochrome P-450LM2 and induced hemoprotein formation after administration into rats. The preparations of glycyrrhizic acid appear to be useful for treatment of toxic impairment of liver tissue.

After cessation of the stirring of reagents in the egg yolk lipoprotein suspension where lipid peroxidation had been initiated by ferrous ions a drop of chemiluminescence (CL) was observed after a lag period, the duration of which increased in the course of stationary-state CL development. The CL intensity was but slightly dependent on oxygen pressure in the gas phase above incubation mixture within oxygen partial pressure limits 760-40 mm Hg. These data suggest that the CL quantum yield is growing during lipid peroxidation development as a result of the formation in the system of some compounds amplifying the CL intensity and/or development of a new CL reaction whose rate depends purely on oxygen and whose photon emitters are different.

RESUMO

In the presence of rhodamine J the chemiluminescence intensity of monolayer liposomes induced by ferrous ions is increased by three orders. There is no accumulation of malonic dialdehyde. It is suggested that chemiluminescence activation is related to rhodamine J interaction with the products of lipid peroxidation whose molecules are in the excited state.

RESUMO

Luminol dependent stimulated by barium sulfate crystals chemiluminescence of leukocytes in the whole blood was studied. Chemiluminescent kinetics and dependence between the chemiluminescence intensity and temperature were investigated. The chemiluminescence is related to the formation of reactive oxygen by stimulated leukocytes which settled to the bottom of the cell together with the crystals of barium sulfate.

RESUMO

A new method for the assessment of the severity of the patients' status and prediction of the clinical course of suppurative-inflammatory processes is described, making use of the peripheral blood luminol-dependent chemiluminescence. Early assessment of the patient's condition and prediction of the disease course helps correctly choose the treatment strategy. The technique is simple and rapid, recommending its wide clinical application.

RESUMO

A considerable rise in indices of chemoluminescence (CL) of the whole blood in children with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis was noted. A correlation of CL with clinico-laboratory indices of the disease activity was revealed. The highest level of CL was observed in the articulovisceral form and in the maximum degree of the disease activity. There was a significant difference in CL intensity in the minimum degree of the disease activity and remission of the pathological process.

RESUMO

Rhodamine G was found to activate blood plasma chemiluminescence induced by ferrous ions. The dye in concentrations 300-500 mole/l increased chemiluminescence by an order of magnitude. The luminescence was inhibited by histidine and SOD. A conclusion may be drawn that the mechanism of the activated ferrous chemiluminescence with rhodamine G was related to superoxide anion-radicals and singlet oxygen.

RESUMO

The effect of Dibunol and Delagil on the course of experimental pancreatitis was studied in experiments in 80 rats and 36 dogs. The intravenous injection of the drugs was shown to decrease lethality of the animals. Control of biochemical parameters has revealed decreased activity of amylase, lipase, trypsin and malonic dialdehyde, normalized level of superlight luminescence of blood plasma. A good medical effect was obtained in 15 patients with acute pancreatitis.

RESUMO

To assess the efficacy of laser therapy in the management of unresponding wounds and ulcers the method based on the estimation of chemiluminescence of tissue fluid in the presence of H2O2 was developed. It is suggested that laser radiation-induced decrease in chemiluminescence can be attributed to the activation of catalase in tissue fluid, which has an obvious positive therapeutic effect on reparative regeneration of wounds and ulcers.

Chemiluminescent properties of blood serum from rabbits with hypo-, normo- and hyperthyroidism were investigated. The ferrum-induced chemiluminescence of the serum was shown to be decreased both in hypo- and in hyperthyroidism as compared with the normal state. The oxidative capacity of the main substrate of the peroxidation in blood serum--apo-B containing lipoproteins--did not markedly differ in various states of thyroid gland. The efficiency of branched free radical chains was dissimilar; these data suggest that the content of lipid-soluble antioxidants was increased in the lipoproteins in hypo- and decreased in hyperthyroidism. Measuring of the chemiluminescence quenching in the standard chemiluminescent system indicated that the content of water-soluble antioxidants was increased in blood of animals both with hypo- and hyperthyroidism. However, a higher content of water-soluble antioxidants was noted in blood of rabbits with hypothyroidism as compared with the animals with hyperthyroidism.
