Josephson vortex motion as a source for dissipation of superflow of e-h pairs in bilayers.

It is shown that in a bilayer excitonic superconductor dissipative losses emerge under transmission of the current from the source to the load. These losses are proportional to the square of the interlayer tunneling amplitude and are independent of the value of the input current. The case of a quantum Hall bilayer is considered. The bilayer may work as a transmission line if the input current exceeds a certain critical value. An input current higher than the critical one induces Josephson vortices in the bilayer. The difference in electrochemical potentials is required to feed the load and it forces Josephson vortices to move. The state becomes non-stationary which leads to dissipation.

[Improvement of the diagnostic quality in thyroid diseases based on visualization and standardization of examinations]. / Povyshenie kachestva diagnostiki zabolevanii shchitovidnoi zhelezy na osnove vizualizatsii i stabilizatsii obsledovaniia.

There was proposed the method of the thyroid gland (TG) visualization in the system of topographical coordinates and in the projection of the organ image on the anterior surface of neck. One hundred of patients with the TG pathology were examined with application of the method. There was noted the possibility of the TG visualization application in the system of coordinates for enhancement of the fine-needle aspirational biopsy quality and diagnostic examination in total.

[Comparative characteristics of thyroid cancer morbidity based on clinical data]. / Sravnitelnaia kharakteristika zabolevaemosti rakom shchitovidnoi zhelezy po materialam kliniki.

Comparative assessment of the incidence of thyroid cancer in patients operated on for different thyroid diseases from 1980 to 1986 (2448 cases, group 1), and from 1987 to 1991 (1993 cases, group 2) was carried out. The increase in incidence of thyroid cancer in group 2 patients was noted as well, as that in incidence of cancer development among the other hyperplastic diseases of the thyroid gland, autoimmune thyroiditis in particular. The results obtained are indicative of the necessity for correction of the tactics of treatment and prophylactic follow-up of the patients with different forms of goiter.

[The natural body resistance of patients operated on for differentiated thyroid cancer]. / Sostoianie estestvennoi rezistentnosti organizma bol'nykh, operirovannykh po povodu differentsirovannogo raka shchitovidnoi zhelezy.

After operation for differentiated thyroid cancer, late assessment of the indices of cellular and humoral immunity was carried out in 37 patients ranging in age from 20 to 70 years. Control group included 38 healthy subjects of the similar age. In patients examined, increase in IgC content, absence of changes in IgA and IgM levels were noted. Relative content of B-lymphocytes was increased, total number of lymphocytes, T- and O-cells--significantly decreased.

[The surface activity of vasopressin and its interaction with artificial and biological membranes]. / Poverkhnostnaia aktivnost' vazopressina i ego vzaimodeistvie s iskusstvennymi i biologicheskimi membranami.

It was determined that vasopressin has surface active properties and in nanomolic concentrations is capable to incorporate in lipoprotein monolayers which are formed from myocytes plasma membranes. By means of pH-metric and fluorescent analysis it was shown that vasopressin interacts with other membrane structures which have no specific receptors--phosphatidylcholinic liposomes and vesicles of sarcoplasmic reticulum of skeletal muscles causing increasing permeability of phospholipid bilayer for Ca2+ ions.

[Histological and immuno-morphological characteristics of differentiated cancer of the thyroid gland]. / Gistologicheskie i immunomorfologicheskie kharakteristiki differentiated cancer of the thyroid gland.

Histological and immunomorphological study of the removed tumor and tissue of the thyroid was performed in 80 patients with differentiated thyroid cancer. Activation of immune reactions and immunocompetent cells was reported at the border with blastomatous process. The latter seems a factor contributing to a favorable run of differentiated thyroid cancer. The capacity of papillary and follicular cancer for multifocal growth limits indications for preserving surgery in such lesions.

[Cytologic diagnosis of thyroid gland adenoma and goiter]. / Tsitologicheskaia diagnostika adenomy i zoba shchitovidnoi zhelezy.

Examinations of smear impressions of postoperative biopsy specimens of the thyroid from adenoma patients have revealed among polygonal structures 1 to 20 spherical complexes (per micropreparation) consisting of relatively monomorphic follicular cells with intensively blue cytoplasm. The 'ball' size was 200-900 micron or more. Cellular composition, specific features of cellular structure, and the presence of spherical structures permit differentiating adenoma from goiter.

Results of questionnaire survey of 275 physicians of major clinical specialties are provided in regard to 26 aspects of medical expertise. Information is provided which characterise physicians' knowledge of medical expertise provisions, the sources of this knowledge, the assessment of competence of this expert commission and of its director, ungrounded issue of sick lists, denial to identify factual disability, causes leading to this phenomenon and also ways of reducing the level of morbidity associated with temporary disability.

[Experience in the reduction of the primary disability level]. / Opyt raboty po snizheniiu urovnia pervichnogo vykhoda na invalidnost'.

Measures are designed which are undertaken to form a commission of health occupational experts (CHOE) at local and regional levels in connection with entitlement to disability among workers. Organizational issues are described on early identification and adequate treatment of diseases frequently leading to disability, on promoting motivation of health workers in the reduction of disability among workers, raising the quality of medical-labour examination, information supply of physicians and public health administrators of these problems. A recommendation is made of the necessity to place commissions and institutes of health occupational experts under the authority of ministries of public health of the USSR and union republics. Advisability of including the section devoted to disability issues into the progress report of curative and preventive institutions is emphasized.
