RESUMO

This study explored the clinical features of tracheobronchial foreign bodies (TFB) in children lacking both a foreign body aspiration history and bronchial cut-off signs on imaging. This study was conducted between 2011 and 2021, including 45 children without a choking history or tracheal interruption on CT scans. Common symptoms were cough and wheezing (91.1%, 41 cases), followed by decreased breath sounds (55.6%, 25 cases), rales (48.9%, 22 cases), and wheezing (42.2%, 19 cases). Prior to TFB confirmation, bronchopneumonia was the prevalent diagnosis (88.9%, 40 cases). Vegetable matter was the most frequent foreign body type (75.6%, 34 cases), primarily located in the right main bronchus (31.1%) and left lower lobe bronchus (22.2%). TFB in children with obscure medical histories presents non-specifically, highlighting bronchoscopy's pivotal role in diagnosis and treatment. Key Words: Bronchoscope, Paediatrics, Tracheobronchial foreign body, Diagnosis.

RESUMO

Subglottic cyst is a rare cause of laryngeal tinnitus in infants and young children, and only a few cases have been reported at home and abroad. In this paper, we report the clinical characteristics and treatment experience of three cases of subglottic cysts in Children's Hospital of Nanjing Medical University. All the 3 childrem were prematurechildren, with a history of tracheal intubation, and the main symptoms were coughing and wheezing.Electronic nasopharyngolaryngoscopy revealed spherical neoplasm under the glottis. Neck computed tomography (CT) showed a slightly hypodense shadow with poorly defined borders, and no significant enhancement was observed after enhancement. Under the self-retaining laryngoscope, the new organisms were clamped and nibbled, and the cyst wall was cauterized by low temperature plasma. There was no recurrence in postoperative follow-up.

RESUMO

The aim of the present study is to explore the differential expression of key molecules associated with Wnt signaling in both clinical non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) tissue and adjacent normal lung tissue, and to discuss the tumorigenic role of the activation of Wnt signaling pathways in NSCLC. A total of 52 NSCLC patients were employed in the present study. Lung cancer tissue samples and paracarcinoma tissue samples were obtained from these patients, who had undergone surgical resection of their primary cancer. The cases were diagnosed by hematoxylin and eosin staining. Using reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction and immunohistochemical straining, the messenger RNA (mRNA) and protein expression levels of Wnt inhibitory factor-1 (WIF-1) and important molecules associated with Wnt signaling pathways were detected. Compared with normal tissues, a marked decreased in the mRNA and protein expression levels of WIF-1, and an increase in ß-catenin and cyclin D1 expression, were observed in tumor tissues. This suggests that the activation of the Wnt/ß-catenin signaling pathway may be closely associated with lymph nodal metastasis and lower pathological classification. However, no obvious difference could be observed in adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) expression levels between lung cancer tissues and adjacent tissues to the carcinoma. The activation of the Wnt/ß-catenin signaling pathway in NSCLC could be initiated by WIF-1 gene inhibition without APC expression changes, and this may be different to the mechanism in other tumors.

RESUMO

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(25)H(25)NO(2), contains two independent mol-ecules. The crystal packing exhibits weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O, C-H⋯π and π-π inter-actions.

RESUMO

In the title mol-ecule, C(21)H(16)Cl(2)O(2)S, the five-membered ring is rotationally disordered between two orientations in a 1:1 ratio. In the crystal structure, weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link mol-ecules related by translation along the a axis into chains, which are further combined into layers parallel to the bc plane via C-H⋯π inter-actions. The crystal studied was a racemic twin with a 0.37 (19):0.63 (19) domain ratio.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate incidents and clinical features of auditory neuropathy in Nanjing deaf school students. METHOD: Three hundred and fifty-eight deaf students in the school accepted the first examination including otoscopic examination, tympanometry and transiently evoked otoacoustic emissions (TEOAE) screening. Detailed audiological and vestibular evaluations including pure-tone audiometry, immittance audiometry and acoustic reflex measures, transiently evoked otoacoustic emissions (TEOAE), distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAE), auditory brain stem response (ABR), electronystagmography (ENG) and vestibular evoked myogenic potential (VEMP) were given to whom had positive TEOAE screening. RESULT: Three hundred and twenty-three students entered the program of screening for auditory neuropathy. One student had positive TEOAE in single ear while the other two had positive TEOAE in both ears. In the screening stage, there were strong evidences in these three students with auditory neuropathy in the detailed audiological procedures. CONCLUSION: Auditory neuropathy, which can also be found in deaf schools, is not as rare as we thought before. Early identification and intervention may help those children to avoid entering the deaf school and to return to normal society.
