RESUMO

This study aimed to identify factors that affect lymphovascular space invasion (LVSI) in endometrial cancer (EC) using machine learning technology, and to build a clinical risk assessment model based on these factors. Samples were collected from May 2017 to March 2022, including 312 EC patients who received treatment at Xuzhou Medical University Affiliated Hospital of Lianyungang. Of these, 219 cases were collected for the training group and 93 for the validation group. Clinical data and laboratory indicators were analyzed. Logistic regression and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression were used to analyze risk factors and construct risk models. The LVSI and non-LVSI groups showed statistical significance in clinical data and laboratory indicators (P < 0.05). Multivariable logistic regression analysis identified independent risk factors for LVSI in EC, which were myometrial infiltration depth, cervical stromal invasion, lymphocyte count (LYM), monocyte count (MONO), albumin (ALB), and fibrinogen (FIB) (P < 0.05). LASSO regression identified 19 key feature factors for model construction. In the training and validation groups, the risk scores for the logistic and LASSO models were significantly higher in the LVSI group compared with that in the non-LVSI group (P < 0.001). The model was built based on machine learning and can effectively predict LVSI in EC and enhance preoperative decision-making. The reliability of the model was demonstrated by the significant difference in risk scores between LVSI and non-LVSI patients in both the training and validation groups.

RESUMO

Electromagnetic interference shielding (EMI SE) modules are the core component of modern electronics. However, the traditional metal-based SE modules always take up indispensable three-dimensional space inside electronics, posing a major obstacle to the integration of electronics. The innovation of integrating 3D-printed conformal shielding (c-SE) modules with packaging materials onto core electronics offers infinite possibilities to satisfy ideal SE function without occupying additional space. Herein, the 3D printable carbon-based inks with various proportions of graphene and carbon nanotube nanoparticles are well-formulated by manipulating their rheological peculiarity. Accordingly, the free-constructed architectures with arbitrarily-customized structure and multifunctionality are created via 3D printing. In particular, the SE performance of 3D-printed frame is up to 61.4 dB, simultaneously accompanied with an ultralight architecture of 0.076 g cm-3 and a superhigh specific shielding of 802.4 dB cm3 g-1. Moreover, as a proof-of-concept, the 3D-printed c-SE module is in situ integrated into core electronics, successfully replacing the traditional metal-based module to afford multiple functions for electromagnetic compatibility and thermal dissipation. Thus, this scientific innovation completely makes up the blank for assembling carbon-based c-SE modules and sheds a brilliant light on developing the next generation of high-performance shielding materials with arbitrarily-customized structure for integrated electronics.

RESUMO

In women, ovarian cancer is a common gynecological cancer associated with poor prognosis, reoccurrence and chemoresistance. Scoulerine, a benzylisoquinoline alkaloid, has been reported effective against several carcinomas. Thus, we investigated the impact of scoulerine on ovarian cancer cells (OVCAR3). Cell viability was assessed by MTT assay, migration was determined by Boyden Chamber assay, while the invasion was monitored by Boyden Chamber assay using the matrigel. The stemness properties of OVCAR3 cells were observed by tumorsphere assay. Epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) and stemness-related protein markers were monitored by real-time PCR analysis and immunoblotting. Scoulerine inhibits the viability of OVCAR3 cells with the IC 50 observed at 10 µmol L-1 after 48 h treatment. Scoulerine inhibited the colony-forming ability, migration and invasiveness of OVCAR3 cells in a dose-dependent fashion. Scoulerine treatment also drastically reduced the spheroid-forming ability of OVCAR3 cells. The mesenchymal and stemness--related markers like N-cadherin, vimentin, CD-44, Oct-4, Sox-2 and Aldh1A1 were downregulated, whereas the epithelial markers like E-cadherin and CD-24 were upregulated in scoulerine-treated cells. The upstream PI3K/Akt/mTOR-axis was downregulated in scoulerine-treated cells. We concluded that scoulerine successfully perturbs the cancerous properties of OVCAR3 cells by targeting the PI3K/Akt/mTOR axis. In vivo studies revealed a substantial decrease in tumor mass and volume after scoulerine treatment. Furthermore, scoulerine treatment was found to decrease oxidative stress factors in ovarian cancer mice model. Scoulerine is a potential anticancer agent against ovarian cancer and can be considered as a lead molecule for this malignancy, provided further investigations are performed.

RESUMO

Towards the difficulties of traditional processing technology in loading high-concentration functional fillers to realize the target electromagnetic interference shielding (EMI SE) performance, and constructing the arbitrary-designated architectures for serving advanced electronics, this work innovatively formulated a functional multi-walled carbon nanotubes@cellulose nanofibers (MWCNT@OCNF) ink for direct ink writing (DIW) 3D printing, which not only possessed high freedom on the proportion of functional particles, but also imparted to the ideal rheological performance for 3D printing. Based on the pre-programmed printing trajectories, a series of porous scaffolds featuring exceptional functionalities were architected. Particularly for the electromagnetic waves (EMWs) shielding behaviors, the optimized one with "full-mismatched" architecture posed the ultralight structure (0.11 g/cm3) and superior SE performance (43.5 dB) in the X-band frequency region. More encouragingly, the 3D-printed scaffold with hierarchical pores possessed the ideal electromagnetic compatibility on EMWs signal, where the radiation intensity generated by EMWs signal fluctuated in a step pattern in 0 and 1500 µT/cm2 as loading and unloading scaffolds. Overall, this study paved a novel path for the formulation of functional inks to print lightweight, multi-structure, and high-efficiency EMI SE scaffolds for the next-generation shielding elements.

RESUMO

High-performance flexible piezoelectric polymer-ceramic composites are in high demand for increasing wearable energy-harvesting applications. In this work, a strategy combining solid-state shear milling (S3M) and fused filament fabrication (FFF) 3D-printing technology is proposed for the fabrication of high-performance biomimetic wearable piezoelectric poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF)/tetraphenylphosphonium chloride (TPPC)/barium titanate (BaTiO3) nanocomposite energy harvesters with a biomimetic fish-scale-like metamaterial. The S3M technology could greatly improve the dispersion of BaTiO3 sub-micrometer particles and the interfacial compatibility, resulting in better processability and piezoelectric performance of the nanocomposites. Typically, the FFF 3D printed energy harvester incorporating 30 wt % BaTiO3 showed the highest piezoelectric outputs with an open-circuit voltage of 11.5 V and a short-circuit current of 220 nA. It could hence drive nine green LEDs to work normally. In addition, a 3D-printed biomimetic wearable energy harvester inspired by an environmentally adaptive fish-scale-like metamaterial was further fabricated. The fish-scale-like energy harvester could harvest energy through different deformation motions and successfully recharge a 4.7 µF capacitor by being mounted on a bicycle tire and the tire's rolling. This work not only provides a 3D printing strategy for designing diversified and complex geometric structures but also paves the way for further applications in flexible, wearable, self-powered electromechanical energy harvesters.

RESUMO

In this paper, a local enrichment strategy was adopted to prepare carbon nanotube (CNT) enriched polylactic acid (PLA) composite filaments, which were used to fabricate the corresponding conductive 3D-printed parts by fused deposition modeling (FDM) technology. Combined with computer simulation, the carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were found to be successfully kept and supported on the surface of filaments after 3D-printing. With this strategy, the prepared 3D-printed parts showed a remarkably enhanced electrical conductivity, which was approximately eight orders of magnitude higher than that of the conventional 3D-printed parts at the same loading of CNTs. This encouraging result provided a new method for fabricating the high-performance parts through FDM printing, and also opened up new routes for 3D-printing technologies to prepare other advanced binary or multicomponent polymer composites.
