RESUMO

Intolerance reaction of the skin refers to multiple reaction patterns, including toxic, allergic, pseudo-allergic and even psychiatric mechanisms. In our case, a patient was diagnosed for years as having "multiple allergies", but except for a documented contact allergy to a local anesthetic, her underlying disease was panic disorder with multiple phobias. Using this case study with one year follow-up, hypotheses are discussed about effective psychotherapy in patients with intolerance reactions of the skin. Differential indications are explored with reference to the latest investigative results in psychoneuroimmunology. In this patient, psychotherapy helped the phobias and eliminated her conviction that she had multiple allergies. In addition, the positive pre-therapy allergy testing was not reproducible. The dermatologist should not expect such patients to present with phobias, because they frequently shift their phobic anxiety into the fear of allergic reactions to escape from the label of having psychiatric disease. Such patients should receive psychotherapy if they begin to generalize their avoidance behavior and limit their social contacts.

RESUMO

This article examines the risk of false memories induced by psychotherapy with special regard to sexual abuse. Current psychological constructs based on depth psychology are reviewed critically. The multitude of psychological disorders connected with sexual abuse in recent time and a subjectivistic misunderstanding of empathy frequently lead sometimes to uncritical acceptance of anamnestic reports about sexual abuse. Thus, the question of what really happened often is risen not before forensic appraisals. It can be shown that the descriptive psychiatric view and depth psychological oriented constructs tend to compete with each other with the consequence of different results in therapeutic practise and forensic appraisal if inappropriately applied. The author shows how to distinct between induced delusional symptoms and dissociative phenomena. Furthermore he draws attention on the ethically doubtful long-term results of a not correctly indicated use of psychological constructs based on depth psychology about extreme traumatization in the psychotherapy of strongly suggestible patients.

RESUMO

The effectiveness of concurrent psychotherapeutic treatment for various skin diseases can be regarded as sufficiently validated. Contributions on in-patient treatment concepts are rare, and there are up to now no reports on methods integrating psychotherapeutic treatment approaches. Our concept of a 4-week short-term psychotherapy-starting from a conflict hypothesis in the complaint intensifying, acute situation-includes the bimodal work on both understanding and practice oriented treatment focus. By means of 2 case studies with 1-year-follow-up, insight is given into the treatment approach from which effective factors of psychotherapeutic treatment were tentatively in with patients with skin diseases.

RESUMO

Sialic acid is an acute phase reagent with tumour burden reflecting fluctuations of serum level. The parameter is unsuitable for an early recognition of cancer. Sialic acid could be used as a parameter in questions concerning tumour burden: the diagnosis of tumour stage, the control of growth after therapy, the prediction of recidivation. The small specificity of an increased serum level of sialic acid will presumably be only of little use in tumour diagnostics.

RESUMO

An account is given of three patients who exhibited a malignant neuroleptic syndrome after the administration of neuroplegics. Like other authors, we identified typical elicitation factors and clinical characteristics. In one case a catatonic dilemma with lethal issue was observed. In the final case dealt with in this paper, the renewed application of neuroplegics following the termination of the malignant neuroleptic syndrome was tolerated without complications, whereas in the case of an epileptic patient with damage to the brain, the malignant neuroleptic syndrome returned upon dosage increase.
