RESUMO

The authors first applied a complex of modern noninvasive methods of studying cerebral vascular pathologies, both direct (phonoangiography, echopulso- or echosphygmography, bidimensional scanning) and indirect (telethermography, ultrasound flowmetry, photoplethysmography and ophthalmodynamometry, inhalation radiocirculography) in examining patients with various stages of atherosclerotic carotid impairment and various forms of cerebral vascular pathology (ischemic stroke, transient disorders of the cerebral circulation, initial manifestations of cerebral circulation deficiency) verified by cerebral angiography, surgery or necropsy findings. High informative value of the above methods used combined in cases of circulatory pathology in the carotid bed was shown and the differential evaluation of the importance of every individual method in concrete types of cerebrovascular pathology was carried out. The use of ultrasound and thermovisual methods is considered to be most promising in the diagnosis of vascular cerebral impairments.

RESUMO

The paper deals with the potentialities of visualizing the carotid and temporal arteries as well as jugular veins with the help of the non-invasive method for compound real-time ultrasound scanning. In 18, out of twenty healthy volunteers examined, the echotomograms exhibited reasonably clear-cut images of the above-listed vessels. Their localization, size, and pulsation patterns are described, which enables one to differentiate the arterial and venous trunks. Visualization of the vertebral artery was also performed. The technique of ultrasound transducer orientation by means of Doppler sonography is presented.

RESUMO

This is a report on a previously undescribed clinical symptom manifested in the form of an asymmetrical pattern of pulsation in the cervical vessels in healthy people, with a more pronounced nature on the right side. Using ultrasound angiography and flowmetry, 300 volunteers (200 healthy people and 100 patients with diseases of the peripheral nervous system) were studied and the physiological asymmetry of the blood flow along the jugular veins was demonstrated.

RESUMO

Results of clinical and experimental studies of the venous cerebral circulation using a set of non-invasive and economic ultrasonic methods (echo-encephalography, echo-pulsography, dopplerography and combined ultrasonic scanning of the neck) are presented. The studies were carried out both on humans and animals. As a total, 15 animals and 69 humans with signs of venous dyscirculation were examined. Data allowing one to judge about the side and degree of the disturbances of the venous cerebral hemodynamics were obtained.

RESUMO

At present, the ultrasonic diagnosis employs A, M and B-echograpic apparatus along with Doppler indicators and meters. Specific features of these devices determine a complex of medical problems to be solved. So, A-devices find particularly successful application in biometry, M-devices for studying the time course, mainly in cardiology. The possibilities of B- units depend, to a considerable degree, upon the scanning-system tupe. Correlation of clinical experience in employing ultrasonic technique allowed one to recommend examplary sets of diagnosis devices for different medical fields.

RESUMO

With the aid of modern ultrasonic diagnostic devices experiments were conducted in order to receive signals from foreign bodies of a different composition, non-radiocontrast ones including. Experiments on 10 human brain preparations revealed the typical peculiarities of echo-signal from foreign bodies in the cerebral matter. In 30 adult mongrel dogs it was proved that foreign bodies can be diagnosed in the course of primary and secondary debridement of skull and brain wounds. It was found that the shape and size of the foreign bodies in the human brain can be most explicitly determined with the aid of a specially designed device having a high azimuthal resolution.
