[Effects of probiotics on pathogenic mycobacteria].

A procedure has been developed to study the antagonistic effect of probitics on pathogenic Mycobacterium tuberculosis, by employing the cultural filtrates obtained after joint incubation of a probiotic and an antagonistic strain in the liquid nutrient medium. It has been shown that two probiotics actively elaborate bactericidal agents that suppress the growth of pathogenic mycobacteria and reduce the number of colony-forming units in the solid egg culture medium by 2-17 times.

[Cattle Mycobacterium xenopi infection].

Cattle mycobacteriosis caused by achromous M. xenopi strains was identified in two stock farms. The most typical strain of M. xenopi is the copyrolysis detected by tests and the composition of high molecular-weight mycolates containing 22, 24, and 26 hydrocarbon atoms and having typical double peaks of saturated and unsaturated acids.

For preceding treatment of pathological materials, the authors propose a decontaminating agent that contains plivasept at a concentration of 0.08%, the enzyme imozymase and sodium bicarbonate versus decontaminating agents containing chlorohexidine bigluconicum or plivasept alone. The authors' agent increases the proportion of Coch bacterial positive cultures and increases the informative value of luminescence microscopy by reducing the proportion of samples having single mycobacteria in the agent. The use of the proposed decontaminating agent saves the time of attending personnel by reducing the stages of preceding treatment of pathological materials.

A latex antibody diagnostic kit was used to reveal microbacterial antigens in the sputum of patients with tuberculous and nonspecific lung disease in 54 and 38% of cases, respectively. It is suggested that Mycobacterium antigens are present in different tissues of an infected macroorganism.
