RESUMO
A complex of clinical radiation and MRI studies of the joint was conducted in 45 patients with tuberculous arthritis. Two major forms of tuberculous lesion of the joint were identified: primary osseous tuberculous arthritis (79.6%) and tuberculous allergic synovitis (20.4%). In patients with tuberculous allergic synovitis, MRI revealed a nonspecific exudative proliferative response of the synovial membrane and edema of the bone marrow and periarticular tissues. In primary osseous tuberculous arthritis, MRI showed tuberculous inflammation foci in the epiphysis of the bone; proliferative changes in the synovial membrane, destruction of cartilaginous, fibrous, and osseous structures, as well as periarticular abscesses.

Two new methods for elimination of bronchial fistulas in postresectional empyemas were tested in 40 patients. The most effective procedure was transbronchial diathermocoagulation of the draining (fistular) bronchus, with a full clinical effect being in 100% of patients), and selective foam rubber obturation in 80%.

A device is described intended for digital recording and reproduction of x-ray images attached to RUM-20M x-ray diagnostic complex with x-ray image amplification. Radiation loading of patients and the staff were reduced more than twofold. Spot photographs during x-ray examinations were ruled out. The quality of hard copies of images made using various printing devices are compared.

The authors propose a procedure and equipment for control by using a rotation table of a PYM-20M X-ray system with an image intensifier. A 4 x 4-cm beam field is used. The procedure makes it possible to lower X-ray loads in patients by 10-15 times, to calculate the absorbed integrated radiation dose, to enhance the quality of plane films, to draw up a protocol of studies. This increases the accuracy of X-ray anatomic instrument position. The apparatus can be remotely controlled.
